Okay Farscapers, I have a silly little question about something a character said that I don’t quite get.
Well, it sort of makes sense – but I wonder if anyone can make a little more sense for me.
Season 4, episode 1
“Chrichton Kicks”
An odd gal lands on the dying leviathan that Chrichton is holed up in.
She levitates or climbs walls and ceilings by “shifting her gravity center”.
It turns out that she is the expert that was hired to lead the bad guys (Grudex?) to leviathans for the purpose of harvesting their neural cluster tissue.
“I was too good. A simple Leviathan travel route was all they expected.”
“I sabotaged myself” ?? …
(She sabotaged herself, because she did more than she was supposed to do? Is there a little more to it than that?)
She may be on the verge of being disappeared / killed off by the Grudex.
“My loss counts as breach – they won’t even have to pay fees to my organization.”
(Now you can see by her expression, that she may not be telling the whole truth – so maybe she is hiding something else … but, if she is, what?)
Okay, so she went beyond what she was supposed to do?
I don’t quite get it (almost, but not quite),
What does she mean “I sabotaged myself”?
And why would she?
Thanks,
Will

Re: Season 4, episode one
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 5:08 PMThanks psychokitty, I know what the word sabotaged means in this context. I just don't know how she got there - to be in the position of having "screwed herself".
Replaying the dialogue a few times I finally made out from Chrichton's muttering (occasionally he mutters); that, having led the Grudeks to the sacred burial ground (instead of just providing general route info), the Grudeks would not want to risk her telling anyone else where it was.
So, maybe it's just that:
She is a victim of her over-achieving nature --- led them to the prize instead of simply mapping out some Leviathan travel routes.
She wanted them to harvest from the dying Leviathans instead of the healthy population (she's a real "humanitarian"?).
Having lead them to the big prize - they would have to silence her so she wouldn't tell anyone else where it was?
And having silenced her, they could claim she disappeared - and not have to pay her employers.
Okay, maybe that's all there is to it; just seems like she has some other agenda?
For some reason I just find her a bit intriguing.

Re: Season 4, episode one
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 10:24 PMWill think about it like this:
A person leads a group to a gold mine instead of just mining nuggets for the group. That means the persons job as a middleman has been terminated.
That's what Sputnik meant by her being "too good" and how she sabotaged herself. She's too smart for her own good.
