This tribe is for people who would like to be married, who are married, or aren't married, or were married, for people who support the right of people to get married, for people who dislike the idea of anyone ever being married, but still support the right of everyone to decide they wish to punish themselves in that way, and for people who love Mormon-bashing, or people who just happen to hold a grudge against the Vatican for dumping money into seeing that people don't get married.




Dear New Members, Old Members, Young Members and Potential Members,
"Different Sex Marriage Protection League" originally started as a tongue-in-cheek joke: Religious Radicals were screeching that "gay marriage" (ie. equal rights for all citizens in regard to marriage and the non-intervention of the State in using gender to determine recognition of private human relationships) would somehow endanger marriages between people of different genders.

The tribe was set up as a group of gay men and women (and their friends) who (faceciously) vowed to protect those poor straight people who were about to find their relationships disenfranchised in states supporting equal rights to marriage certificates.

It was funny back then (see our early threads).
But back then there were half a dozen active pro-marriage tribes on tribe.
Today (to my knowledge) this is the only one.

I've had comments that the title is off-putting and confusing.
Maybe it's time for a change to make things more clear.
Any suggestions?
