I found a floor lamp with two working fixtures (the third is fixable), a very nice toy puppy that barks when you squeeze its paw for my daughter, a casual service for eight (bowls and plates), a plastic strainer, and four huge salad bowls with lids and a salad fork. All sitting in a box next to the dumpster at my condo. My friend scored several blank or barely-worked stretched canvases.
The people around here throw away the most amazing things. I once made almost a hundred dollars because someone threw away four high-end vacuums and I salvaged them and sold them for parts.

Re: This week's finds
Sun, December 2, 2007 - 5:52 PMYeah, the only thing I didn't bring in was the office-sized trashcan full of golf balls. I probably should have, I could have given them to BM peeps for something.

Re: This week's finds
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 4:52 PMI just found four pieces of Samsonite luggage next to the dumpster. They're old and the exteriors need cleaning but the interiors are clean and in pretty good shape. Nothing I can't fix with a needle and some nylon thread. Suburban dumpsters are such a goldmine. There's also some kind of strange wheeled cart out there but it's too big for me to get up my stairs alone and I'm not certain what it is. -

Re: This week's finds
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 6:29 PMI found a box with flight jumpsuit, gas max, two trousers, t-shirts, jacket and sleeping bag in military fatigue. What was especially cool was that i slit my pinky open rummaging around in the dumpster and was bleeding all over the place when i found it.
We also found a un-opened Sam Adams in that dumpster.

Re: This week's finds
Sat, March 8, 2008 - 5:40 PMWent to take out the recycling tonight and found a palm tree next to the dumpster. Not sure what kind it is, some small ornamental. It was badly in need of re-potting, so I did that, hopefully it will survive the transplant.
It had a few dead fronds which I clipped off, but overall looks healthy aside from being root-bound.
