Going to be moving from this job that has become more of a burden than not, away from the bloody cows and the shitty produce and tyhe 3 sports bars in the middle of nowhere.
Moving to Chandler, nothing exciting, but at least it has stores and busses and stuff. And people have heard of it. Who the hell has heard of Maricopa? No, not county, "city."
This is good. Sucks that the first place we've found in a while of looking that will work out for both of us happens to be available the 21st of the month, which means that we're not making the Texas regional burn, which we'd both been really looking forward to, and was the only one I figured I'd be able to make this year. Oh well. Also sucks that my boss didn't realize that by "I'm moving" I meant AWAY, not that I just needed a weekend off.
Have had some burner friends stop by the house, which is nice. One of them got seriously rear-ended when he tried to leave (no, we weren't trying to keep him <grin>). He's miraculously ok, but the car was fubar. Half his stuff is still here, since tghere was really only so much of his belongings he could mail to Boston, where he'd been headed.
I'm at work because my boss decided we needed to be open allll day, no lunch break, open early, because I couldn't explain the concept that when people go out for Mother's Day, they want Eggs Benedict and mimosas, not cheap sushi.
So, gonna be busy the next few weeks- need to find time to pack between working, since it came up kind of suddenly... sucks that the way things are timewise we'll have to pay for 2 places for a few weeks, but that means we'll have a few weeks within which we can move stuff, too.
Trying not to even think about the whole "having to find a new job" thing. Or the "having even less money than we do now until I do" thing. <gulp>

Re: How's tricks?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 12:42 PMAny time I order a mimosa or a bloody mary, I know it's going to be a rough day, and probably just go downhill from there.
Not much new here -- same routine of total chaos, al the time. Got a great travel year lined up -- Toronto, Vermont, West Virginia, Peru (in 4 straight weeks!), London, Paris, and Gabon. Even going to try to whack in a side trip to Equatorial Guinea. At the moment, though, it's all about training for Peru. I'm leading a crew of 10 doing the Inca Trail, so I can't be a total embarrassment to myself. Have been running and hiking a lot. In a month it will be for real at 14,000 feet, so there is no time to be lost in whipping my ass into shape.
Apart from that, not much to report. Lodged a piece of glass in my finger (where it remains), got involved in a ghetto war, and travelled in time. Same old same old. -

Re: How's tricks?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 5:37 PMI've had a ton of people hype that shit to me. I did it. No.affect.whatsoever. Through much amazement and consternation, they poked and prodded the device, reloaded a much larger quantity. It only elicited a short coughing spell, and raised eyebrows. Some folks, I guess, were not intended for the experience.

Re: How's tricks?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 1:41 PMIt's great to hear from you. You'll find another job. Take your time. If you enjoy waiting tables, you should go out to several restaurants around town first and try to observe where the servers look happiest and get hired there. Ask people about their jobs. How much side work, especially.
I am trying to pack. We are all moving to Berlin September 1st, but we're leaving our apartment July 1st. Lots of work and travel are in store for the summer.

Re: How's tricks?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 2:05 PMI got married to Tyler early this year.
I had a baby girl, Georgia Ruth. She was born on April 9th, nearly four weeks early.
I'm tired as hell.
Babies truly are a full time ass whippin' job.
It's like running a marathon...You get all psyched and pumped and gung-ho about it. Then, when you are in the middle of it, it sucks. But, when you come out on the other side it's fantastic.
I still like my job. I am on maternity leave until July. I will be ready to return to work by then. Staying home day in and day out can get to you after awhile.

Tue, May 13, 2008 - 12:19 AMHeartburn DOES suck, and it doesn't get better when you suddenly get the Pepto Bismol song in your head, either.
So, I never saw the recent movie of LWW, but they've actually made the next one, which intrigues me- I almost have hopes for a full set, though there's NO way that's gonna happen.
(I'm seeing Alan Rickman as the marshwiggle for The Silver Chair) -

Re: How's tricks?
Sat, May 31, 2008 - 5:16 PMTricks is good. I'm starting to treat people (using acupuncture) and acu school takes a lot of energy. I painted yesterday for the first time in months and months. I'm doing a lot of wedding planning for my weddin' in September. That's basically my life right now. It's stable, routine, and pretty fun. Going through the pre-wedding testing ground right now. Interesting to see what comes up before a lifelong commitment. All in all, I'm having a great time. These are sweet days.
I want some chili.
