Dear dancers,

thank you for a wonderful show at Rakkasah last weekend and for the opportunity to take pictures!
I have made a first selection from my 800+ shots, and after brushing them up finished with 350+ shots at:

picasaweb.google.com/sharif....Rakkasah

I have also posted a much smaller selection of 40 pictures from these on my website:

www.bellydancersharif.com/galle...kasah/

You are welcome to download your pictures for personal use and memory of the occasion.
If you'd like to use a picture for promotion or on your personal website, let me know!

As always, my opt-out policy applies, see www.bellydancersharif.com/terms...pt-out .
Please let me know if there are any pictures of you that you'd rather not continue to share with a wider audience...
note that not every amateur photographer at Rakkasah gives you that option!

Because my photography hobby has started out as a wicked scheme to promote my belly dance website,
I would really appreciate a link on your website! No pressure...

Have a great day!

  • I loved all the pics, they are awesome!

I love the two pics taken of my ladies of Raven's Fire; you have them listed as "Sandra and Song of the Sand ".

It's pretty funny (at the time, it wasn't funny at all), we were super late, I mean late, checking in. We were soooo lucky that we were allowed to perform, I guess we were in "Sandra and Song of the Sand" time slot. We are Raven's Fire =D

    thanks, they are fan-taa-bu-lous.
    • I had some trouble figuring out who's who at times (I know 50% of the dancers/groups, and use the program to figure out the rest). Thank you for responding, I will correct the group name and repost by the end of the week or so. You WILL get the credits you deserve!
      • thank you so much for your time and effort. I speak for all the dancers in Raven's Fire, we certainly appreciate it you hard work; we are a fairly young troupe and need any and all exposure we can get ;)
        • Dear Raven,
I really enjoyed your group's performance, it came across very confident powerful, as a tribal style choreo should.

I have updated the group name on my website. There are still tags embedded in the pictures that need to be changed.

Also, note that there is a total of five pictures of your group on the Picasa album - see the first post in this discussion for a link.

          Have a great day!

          • Wow wee! They look Hot, Hot, Hot!
You sure have the eye for art. All the pics; wow, I can not imagine how much time you have spent on them.

Blessings and thank you, again =D
            • I guess as a dancer I have a leg up on other photographers (pun intended...). I can tell you that a few years ago I was glad to get anything recognizable from a dance performance. The low light makes it pretty hard. I've come quite a ways since then.
I do spend a fair amount of time brushing up each picture to correct color, exposure and composition. It really makes a difference!
  • Hey!
Those pictures look great! Do you have any of the bands? I saw a couple of dancers (who are dancing to the bands) but you can't really see the band in any of them.

I'd love some photos to post on my website. Maybe I'm not seeing all the photos or something?

    • Glad you like the pictures, Carmine!
if you have seen the Picasa collection (350+ pictures), you have seen all that's fit to print. I admit that at Rakkasah I concentrated heavily on the dancers, but I have done musicians/bands before (and I am a musician myself - I play keyboards). There may be something in the background that I can enlarge, but often the lighting on the musicians wasn't that great.

If you let me know where you are playing I can certainly make an effort to set you up with some decent pictures!
      • I played in 3 different bands. Djinn, Pangia and with Scott Wilson.

I was on the East stage 5 times (1 time on Friday, 2 times on Saturday, 3 times on Sunday)

And I was on the West stage 1 time on Saturday.

Let me know if you got anything cool and how to credit you.

        Thanks!

        -Carmine
        • Hi Carmine,
I do see you in the background in a couple of photos, but those are not usable for your purpose, even after cropping.

My photographic approach often throws the background out of focus to get more attention on the subject - the dancer. That makes most of my shots unusable for promoting the musicians.

I'd be happy to turn my attention to you as a musician next time!
