As I said I've seen southern style master/slave scenes(read white on black) and it didn't bother me. It isn't something that excites me nor do I want to do it a "working something out" As a DM I remember having to keep a watch on one such scene. Not because the scene was a problem but there were some folks from out of town and they were bothered by it. I happen to know them both and the female has given classes on such scenes.

If he was working through issues or playing a kinky role for fun it still has ruined his career. If he's an antisemitic Nazi or just a fascist we'll never know but he's a product of a dark chapter in history and is paying the penalty of being his father's son.

Your comfort is about where the person's comfort was who exposed this essentially private act in the first place. I don't condone the exposure and I feel uncomfortable with Nazi scenes myself, but the scene described was pretty standard D/s role playing if you ignore the family links to fascism. But he has those links and hence that charge attached to the roles.

In the wake of Catholic Church scandals role playing a priest with alter girl/boy as a former priest would sit wrong with many folk. I can see why. But it's still role playing.
