Here's something I thought would make a good topic: who would you picture, from the period of '68, to have been a good act to feature in the RNR Circus?
I could easily picture someone like Neil Young. Especially if he would have done "Sugar Mountain"; hey, why not? Buffalo Springfield did open for the Stones at the Hollywood Bowl in '66...
It's also been mentioned in several sources--including Pete Townshend himself has supported this--that the Small Faces originally wanted to be a part of this movie. According to Townshend, however, "Rod Stewart backed out 'cuz he wasn't too keen on it." I find this statement to be somewhat inaccurate and here's why: 1. "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" had just been released and was in the top spot of the charts for a couple of weeks; 2. in every account that I've read, Steve Marriott didn't leave the Small Faces until after their disastrous Royal Albert Hall show on New Year's Eve of 1968; 3. Rod Stewart and Ron Wood didn't join up with the Faces until the summer of '69, after the Jeff Beck Group had split. Anyway, that would've been cool if the Small Faces had appeared performing "Tin Soldier" or "Don't Burst My Bubble" or "Lazy Sunday"!

Sun, April 8, 2007 - 11:25 PMAh brilliant specs there gov!Neil would have been a fine choice! The Small Faces would have been devine!Other fantasy suggestions for me would include David Jones(pre-Bowie),The Incredible String Band(imagine that),Aurther Brown,Deep Purple,Screaming Lord Sutch,Zappa, and or Beefheart,The Fool,The Pipes of Pan(if they could have been flown in)and of course all the usual suspects.I'd also replace the clowns with The Merry Pranksters
