hello lomo ppl,
my nom is the dr. I am curious to find out what kind of camera was used to take the 4 shots in 1 frame. I see these photos in the tribe section. Some are like a window pane and the others are like sequence shots. Is this from the same camera model?

I"m new to lomo so I appreciate any help that you give.

Hello, all. I just came back from Burning Man, where I took my LOMO for the first time. I got some cool photos, and learned a bit about the limitations of my camera. It was fun, and I am longing to hear stories from others who used their LOMO there, and perhaps see and show pics. Thanks, all!

Hi there...

I just got a colorsplash flash to go with my LOMO, and was wondering if I got a defective one. When I turn it on, it flashes on its own! It will flash when I depress the shutter, but it seems to have a mind of its own, too. Any feedback?

The button you press to take a picture is stuck in the down position - it won't come back up. Has this happened to you? what can be done? is it fixable on my own or do i have to take it to a repair place?

Lomo Beyond What U See

Photo Technica Exhibition Space

The Lomo is a Russian-developed camera that was designed for the KGB as a spy camera in the 1970s. Now, the updated Lomo (the official Lomo website says Lomo is short for Leningradskoje optiko mechanitscheskoje objedinenie, meaning the Leningrad union of optics and mechanics) has developed into a chic, shoot-from-the-hip camera providing half-sharp, half-blurry, richly coloured images. Its unique focal range, and unpredictable results, means Lomo-taking is more a method of expression than strict documentation. In this exhibition, 30 photographers, from professionals to students and amateurs, present their Lomo excursions. Miles Portek's Stockholm Syndrome provides warped walls and hues of florid tangerine while parisydneytokyo's Stopover in Lomo 1-3 crashes a burning red orb into a luminous, old-fashioned map. Jay Ryves's Untitled balances stuttered views of lift-off from a runway, Geoff Dyke's The Lake series spotlights ultramarine tranquillity and Stefan Litterini's Red Laser on Green St. 1-2 turns a night-time street corner into a deserted Blade Runner outpost.

1-7 Wellington Street, Chippendale, 9310 7466. Monday 10am-6pm, Thursday 5-8.30pm, Friday 10am-8.30pm, Saturday 11am-5pm, until November 22.

Advice Wanted: Pro Developing in SF

I've been taking Lomo shots for a few years now, and getting them developed through Longs drugs next-day service. I've been mostly pleased with the results, and then I scan in the prints at fairly high resolution and post them to the Web with iPhoto. It works great for me.

I just got a fairly good quality 30 year old Canon rangefinder (a QL-17, the best of the Canon rangefinders), and I shot half a dozen or so rolls in Yosemite last weekend. The cold air was clear, and I think I got some pretty good shots, so I'd like to take the film to be professionally developed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to take my film in SF? I know about Photoworks at Church and Market, but it's expensive. Does anybody know of someplace cheaper, or can anyone vouch that Photoworks is worth the price?

Thanks in advance,
-LiquorPig

i've just unsuscribed from recieving their emails given that each one made a dint in my magic plastic card, but also am feeling rather tired of what seems like a forced sense of community wrapping around sales. granted, it is about sales, but it leaves a tart taste in my mouth.

and then i ran across this:

I'm plugging for a friend's open studio. He's showing some night photos (some holgas, maybe lomos, etc..) this weekend. The info is at http://www.peculiarplanet.com/. Some people from the sf-lomo yahoo group are planning on going saturday (10/11) at 4pm. Mark's super nice and would love to see some lomographers there!
