It's the "burnal equinox" and the placement team want s to know our plans.
I feel I have completed the 7th Ray temples project. ie. I am not driven to do it again without enough help to make it easy on everyone.
And I would love to do it again if we do have enough help.
So what do you want to do? I would like your commitment as soon as possible, but I need it by May Day to get the application in on time.
How about your Droogies? Anyone new want to go for a ride?
Maybe a new theme? After a few years of a fairly serious theme, I would be fine with me to get SILLY. "Temple of the Giant Resurrection"?
"Church of the Big Bang"? something else?
I'd like to hear from you soon and need to hear by May1

Hi! I'm Kathleen and I'll be arriving Wednesday after I see my two darlings off to school for the new year...ah! the juggling act of a parent, but I'm so excited to meet you all soon.

I'm planning a group dinner. My idea so far is tacos. How does this sound? I'm planning it for Thursday night. I'll bring tortillas, tofu and seasoning, beans and cheese. Would you like to bring something to add? There will be about 12 of us.

Warmly,
Kathleen

Camp organization, What Now?

I'd like to propose (not dictate) some guidelines for the camp and see who can help with what. Please review the information listed below carefully and reply to me at raygris@asis.com with your response, thoughts, and ideas.

>> Every person should bring 5-10 gal of Bio-diesel or gasoline. The Bio-diesel is for the camp generator. If I get some help soon on the art car conversion, we will also be needing propane fuel for that vehicle. If it does not get converted, then gasoline is the fuel needed for the generator to recharge the art car batteries. Please let me know how much of what type of fuel you are bringing.

>>. Contribution to the camp can come in 4 ways;
1) Be at BRC early on Saturday the 23rd to help set up the camp before Monday opening. If you choose this option I need to know this week. All who arrive early need to be given bar code passes before you arrive at the gate and I need to know how many people to request passes for. Please call me or e-mail me before July 27th if you are coming on Saturday.
2) During the event, pick up the moop in camp, vacuum the rugs in the Temple, and knock the dust out of the temple pillows in the morning and moop the camp again in the evening.
3) Stay after the event Monday (or possibly into Tuesday) to teardown and pack up the camp and do our Leave No Trace clean up.
4) Contribute to the camp coffers with a yet-to be-determined stash of cash.

>> What can you bring for the camp in your vehicle?

Participating in a theme camp requires a lot of stuff. I need your help bringing supplies as I cannot carry two temples, an art car with tow vehicle and all of our theme camp gear myself. Here are items I need help with bringing to the Playa…..

1. The tow vehicle for the art car is a small electric GEM car that can fit in the back of a large pickup but must face forward into the wind stream or it's front window may pop out. It weighs about 1000 lbs. It can also be placed on a small trailer and towed to the playa.

2. The camp generator is about 2 ft wide, 3 ft long and 2.5 ft tall. It weighs 430 lbs.

3. Extra water. I will need someone to bring extra water for me because of all the extra camp stuff I am bringing this year. Please talk to me about how much extra water to bring if you can.

4. Temple lights and art. The lights for the temple and the art car are all lightweight (LED) but physically large. The art work for the temple is lightweight but a little delicate. The brackets are about 12" x 18" and there are 12 of them. The lintels are approx. 1' x 5' and there are 12. The pillars are 8 inches x 8 feet, and there are 18 pieces.

5. Couches. One couch and one love seat for our Playa lounge area (both are light weight). These are to be picked up in Sacramento at Cathy’s house. (right near the 80 freeway).

All of the above items (except the water and couches) should get to camp for set up Saturday or Monday at the latest.

>>Although we are all responsible for our meals, I am bringing a shade structure that could serve as a kitchen area. If any one wants to plan a group meal, that would be great.

>> I sent BM a plan of our water evaporator. The bilge pump I ordered never came so that's on the list of things that need to be purchased. This is primarily for our shower water, but a paint filter for a 5 gal bucket could be used to remove food scraps from dish water. Although I have all the parts, I would be grateful if someone can please choose to be responsible for this water evaporator set-up.

>> There are still a number of projects to complete before our migration. I could use your help any day until August 15th. Here are some of the things that need to be done.

1. Sew and install covers for the new Temple pillows and mattresses, I have the fabric.
2. Make new heavier rebar stakes (involves cutting, bending and welding rebar).
3. The electric car needs its deco and lighting, a new larger motor installed, the onboard charger installed, the trailer hitch installed, possibly new batteries.
4. The trailer needs the deco for the inside (Joey is thinking of a painting for the inner cone of the canopy) and posts for the large light effects and the capital finished.
5. It would be great if someone wanted to design and create the altar for the temple. I have a lot of pieces for it.
6. There are still a number of castings to be made for the art work in the temple. After giving up on paper-crete, I'm trying paper mache'.

I'm working on these projects every day until the 15th when I leave for center camp. I would appreciate your help in completing as many of these tasks as possible.

…….Please let me know what you think, what you would like, any concerns or ideas or other projects.

Love to you all, Ray

Hello Temple of the 7th Ray family,

Please know that all who are heading out to the Playa for early set up on Saturday August 23 are welcome to crash at my house in Sacramento. I live just off the Interstate 80 freeway (less than 2 miles) right before crossing Hwy 5. Please call me at 916-390-4395 or e-mail me at cathy.bain@sbcglobal.net if you want to sleep here Thursday night before heading up to BRC. I plan to leave my house no later than 2pm...ish (heavy on the ish) on Friday August 22. Friday afternoon traffic headed for Reno is slow and I will be pulling a camper-trailer behind my car so I will be traveling slow myself. I plan to stop in Reno for gas, eat a nice meal, and fill up my empty water containers with filtered water from a grocery store (less weight to carry over the mountains to Reno). I hate to hurry, so thought it would be a nice comfy ride if I leave early. I want to be in line at BRC gates late Friday night....nap....be ready to drive in at midnight when they let us in. These are my plans, you are welcome to join me or do your own thing.
Namaste, Cathy

We have a preliminary approval for the art car. This give us a voucher so we can get in the gate at BRC and then get the inspection. We went for night/day with/without trailer, so we can use the Gem car to get ice too.
We also have the workshops listed in the program, What Where When.

Tell a wise one
or else be silent
for the masked man will be mawkish right away
I praise what is truly alive
what longs to be burned to death.
In the calm waters of love nights
where you were begotten
where you have begotten
a strange feeling comes over you
you see the silent candle burning
distance does not make you falter now
flying, arriving in magic
you are the moth
and you are gone
whoever has not experienced this
to die and so to grow
is but a troubled visitor
on a lonely planet
