Re: San Francisco, Peninsula, San Jose
Fri, May 6, 2005 - 12:20 AMI attend the Javellana School of Escrima Serrada in South San Francisco. The instructor runs it out of his garage, which he has filled with training tools, bags, pads, gloves, etc. I train weapons an hour and then open hands (glove work, sparring, bag work) an hour.
There are a lot of places to go to, and a lot of International Escrima Serrada Association schools to attend, and I know the FMA schools are out there too, so you should land at someplace decent, but for my money (75$mo) there is no better school in SoSF. It's super convenient to me, but even if it wasn't I'd still go. I could be studying at Fairtex in S.F. but I choose this school over it for individualized instruction.

Re: San Francisco, Peninsula, San Jose
Wed, November 22, 2006 - 12:46 PMSup Berto still looking for a Guro? I am involved in 2 arts in the Santa Clara / San Jose area:
The Garimot system bi-weekly (www.garimot.com , video.google.com/videoplay )
This art includes Arnis De Mano, Harimaw Buno, and Hilot. Gat Puno Abon Baet is the Grandmaster of this system.
and:
IESA Serrada Eskrima weekly (www.tribe-iesa.com , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sultan_uddin).
This is the art of Grandmaster Sultan Uddin, a disciple of Grandmaster Angel Cabales.
I'm having alot of fun learning from great peeps, I wouldn't change a thing about what I'm learning now.

Re: San Francisco, Peninsula, San Jose
Thu, March 8, 2007 - 9:33 AMYea he is! He's doing well. He's a very busy guy, planning his wedding and working very, very hard right now. I am urging him to hold class weekly, and have managed to get around the breaks in bi and tri weekly training sessions by taping them, which is helpful for me to review not only his movement, but my movement as well.
Peace, ~John -
