Somehow, I made it back into an alien 'default' world. I didn't want to return to Missouri, but it's 'home', and I did miss V.

iRONic and I both ended up at Midwest Burners' HullaBallU, the decom event. I got to sit down with friends that I hadn't had the chance to really get to know before.....Sunday morning my bud Murdoch (He's at Pandora's fix-it shop in center camp on-playa) and I made breakfast for all the ranger staff, using 4 pounds of bacon and 30 eggs and a pound of cheese. We fed a dozen rangers, and had a heck of a time doing it. It turns out that Murdoch is a great cook, too.....he's got the spice thing down just right.

Saw my uncle for the first time in 5 years a couple of weeks ago. He got remarried this year, and his new wife is super. Stayed overnight at their house in Denver on the way back from an American Institute of Professional Geologists meeting, this year in Grand Junction, Colorado. I presented a paper and went on a couple of superb field trips. On my way back to Columbia, I made it over the Rockies just in time.....they had 4" of snow the next morning up at the 9,000-foot level. When I passed through Vail the snow was already blowing sideways.

I'm looking forward (already) to 2010! I have an event to go to.....the "Lake Lahontan Submarine Races"......you all are invited.......
