Burners Mission to Mars.

Data received in recent months from the Red Planet indicate that life
could survive on Mars. A group known as Burners have volunteered
to make the first large scale mission. Authorities were apprehensive
at first to let non-government agencies make this trip, but after careful
analysis of the Burner community it was made clear that this group of
people is extremely resourceful and capable of dealing with the unknown.

Burners are going to dispense with the glossy space program as we know it.

Earthdance needs your help!

8:39 Productions has been asked by Realivze Tribe to take a large role in organizing this year's Earthdance on September 15 in San Diego’s Balboa Park. For those who don't know, Earthdance is a worldwide event that takes place in support of humanitarian causes through the global language of music and dance, culminating in a synchronized prayer for peace (which included 360 events in 57 countries last year). Check out www.earthdance.org for more information on the organization.

This year's event will be a FREE event held in Balboa Park, but will be on a much larger scale than last year. There will be three stages featuring local, national, and international talent with bands as well as DJ's. There will also be artists, performers, and vendors of all kinds, as well as (permit pending) a beer garden. The event is being fully funded through sponsorship and we will be donating 100% of the proceeds to Surf Aid (www.surfaidinternational.org), Green Thrive, Balboa Park, and Earthdance International.

How can you help? We want to make this a fun event that truly represents the spirit of Earth Dance, and nobody has more fun in an earth-conscious way than Burners. We are inviting all hoopers, jugglers, stilt walkers, clowns, acrobats, flag spinners (sorry no fire) to come out and do your thing. We are calling all artists, designers, jewelers, and craftspeople to set up vendor booths, give demonstrations, or donate a piece to the cause (tax write-offs can be arranged). We also welcome installations from the Burn to be set up on-site so that they can be enjoyed one more time. Basically, we are open to any and all ideas - it can be as simple as just showing up and playing around, or we can try to work out a more coordinated performance that could be featured on one of the stages – but please make sure you contact us about bringing performance equipment of any kind as there will be security at the door for liability reasons.

If this sounds like something fun that you'd like to participate in, please give us a shout!

Wonderland Auditions

The Wonderland Project is announcing open auditions for a production of Alice in Wonderland. A single performance of the piece will take place at the Fuego De Los Muertos Arts Festival in October of 2007.

The very adult version of the Lewis Carroll story is that of a girl searching for her identity in a world she does not understand. It calls for character actors: 4 men and 4 women, ages 18 to 40. We are asking for a one minute monologue followed by a cold reading and movement.

New Arahat Live/DJ set - Soul of the Peacefull Warrior - Discs 1 & 2 - Plus my archive

Hello everybody, I recorded a new Psy-Trance mix at home in my studio not too long ago. Its titled "Soul of the Peacefull Warrior", Disc 1 and 2. I mixed straight through for 2 1/2 hours, then split it into 2 CD's.

It was mixed using M-Audio's Torq dj software and recorded 24 bit to Soundforge, then mastered in Cubase SX. I used two Pioneer CDJ-800's going into an Ecler mixer to control the tunes in the software using the Timecode discs, with the tables set to Vinyl Mode.

I just uploaded it to my friends server along with a bunch of my older mix sets from the last few years. Included is a mastered version of my New Years Eve set from this last year split it into Three, 1-hour files. There's a breaks mix, a Radio station appearance, as well as my fav's from 05.

Thanks for reading and listening, I hope you enjoy at least one of the mixes. Please post any comments whether positive or negative, constructive criticism never hurt anybody.

Volunteers for an Aids benefit?

I'm working with a committee right now to put together an AIDS/HIV benefit ordeal within the next few months and looking for volunteers for either entertainment or a little grunt work.

So far we have a few metal bands interested in playing and we'd also like to possibly get some DJ help and maybe a little fire spinning entertainment if we can score this right. We also need help in getting equipment for the performances as well as personal to man the master control board and people to take tickets/$$$.

The Forbidden City...

The cold night air was crisp with a breath of winter and a hint of change as a court mystic paced the halls of a palace outside of Bejing. It was the twilight hours of the Ming Dynasty and the only comfort for the mystic's troubled mind came in the form of sputtering torches that cast ghostly shadows across the stones of the hall. Who was this ninja council? What did they hope to gain from opposing the imperial regime? Who were they to think they could effect change? Lost in his brooding, he almost failed to notice... a movement... a slight shift in the shadows. His eyes darted to the source of the movement just in time to see an arrow flew past his head to implant itself in the wall. Startled at first, he realized that the arrow had intentionally missed and carried with it a message. Curiosity overcame fear as he removed the parchment and snapped it open. His concern was valid. The Ninja Council had moved on Bejing and taken over the Imperial Palace known as The Forbidden City. Drawing on their vast resources, the Ninjas planned to gather the finest musical mystics to open a portal to the future.

Ten reasons why Burners should come to Electric Shock this Friday night in SD

1. Static Lounge is a relatively small, undiscovered venue. Even though it is right across the street from On Broadway, it does not have a crowd of douchebag regulars who are there simply to look cool and grab women’s asses. We create our own vibe.

2. We’ve got a great sound system, and we know how to use it. Cerwin Vega bassbins and dual-12” JBL tops pumping basslines out of two turntables, two CDJ’s, and an effects-laden Numark mixer.

3. Jude. I’ve seen Jude play sets of progressive, breaks psytrance, and downtempo – and he’s made my jaw drop every single time. This will probably be his last performance in SD before his child is born in January, after which he will be taking a hiatus.

4. Jonathan Brae. He has been a local favorite for years, and is one of the DJ’s I am most impressed by since moving to California. The guy simply loves what he does – I saw him play 2-4 am at Xara in front of about six people, and he was smiling and jumping up and down the whole time. His dirty house & breaks selection as well as inhuman technical ability gets the asses shaking every time.

5. Our friend Conscious Pilot is coming down from the OC to do live projection visuals for the event. I met him at Caladan, a rave deep in the forest north of LA, and he was sitting by himself just bugging out to his own creations. Some of you may have met him at the Burn – he camped with the RLD. A cool mofo who makes cool looking shit.

6. We’re cheap. Many people are weary of nights downtown because of the damage to their wallets. Our event is only $5 and we have the cheapest drinks downtown (and cheaper than most places in general) - $3 drink specials all night.

7. Houkas. Not only do we have great music, cool visuals, and cheap drinks, but the Static Lounge is a houka bar as well. There is plenty of comfy couch space to sit back, relax, and enjoy the Middle Eastern vibe of flavored tobacco in ornate water pipes.

8. 8:39 Productions. We’re always working hard to bring you the best music at cool, different venues. And you love us, so you want to support us and let us keep throwing kick-ass parties.

9. Isn’t the flyer cool? I sure think so. And I made it. Yay!

10. It’s Friday. You ain’t got no job, and you ain’t got shit to do! Sorry if you don’t get that reference – the point is that it’s the end of the work week and you need to get out and release some tension, relax with good friends and good music.

ALL CAMPING IS PRE-ASSIGNED FOR THE ELYSIUM MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL!

Okay folks, great news!

The miraculous Gwen got with me last night and we placed all the large conglomerates for Elysium camping. Some of those groups include
* Liquid-O,
* Playa Monkey,
* Groovyland/Purple Turtle,
* The Black Company,
* The Red Light District,
* Wandering Junk,
* Machina Candeo,
* Phoenix Projekt,
* Camp Chocula and
* Camp Harmony.
We also placed all the amazing people who contacted me early on with their special camping requests. All of you who have bought your tickets will be hearing from either Gwen or myself, or both, in the next few days with your camp space assignments.

When you get your assignments you can go to the Elysium website to see where you are on the map. If you need to be moved, or have special requests, NOW is the time to let Gwen and I know so we can make arrangements to make you very happy.

So for anyone who is still unsure, you MUST get in touch with me if you have specific camping requests, or with Gwen if you are planning on bringing an RV or large camper-type vehicle. ALL CAMPING IS ASSIGNED FOR ELYSIUM. When you get to the gate and show your ID and paypal confirmation you will be given a map and directed to your camping location.

And if you still havent bought your ticket, jump on that quickly! They're only $35/person, but the first tier ends on Saturday and the price goes to $50/person (RV cost is more). I need your paypal confirmation number in order to assign your camp site.

When you email me at burningbronwen@earthlink.net (not on tribe) please include all of the following information:
* your real name,
* PayPal confirmation number,
* if you want to be with one of the large groups,
* what kind of camping arrangements you've made (tent, car, dome, RV etc),
* other campers sharing your tent etc,
* other structures (like shade structures etc) that you will be bringing
* any special requests (close to stage, away from stage, close to restrooms, shade etc.)

Synergy this Saturday!

This Saturday night we are hosting a club night called Synergy at a newly renovated, super-modern, intimate venue in Clairmont - conveniently located by the 163 & 15 highways. The venue has reasonably priced drinks, a nice patio, super-slick decor, and AFTER HOURS! We're bringing in our own sound system so the place will BUMP.

Our very special guest DJ for the night is San Diego legend Baquai? - he has been DJ'ing and throwing parties around SD for over 10 years, and has earned respect from every crew around by playing a wide range of styles with extreme accuracy - anything from breaks to house to progressive to techno. Dear Friends and Family,

Next weekend yer pals at Ninja Skillz and Blue Insomnia are having a shindig in Baja, Mexico called Alma Paradiso. We're crazy excited about this event as we've managed to get our paws on a beautiful strip of beach near Rosarito and Ensanada for all of our butt-moving, hand-drumming, fire-dancing, sandcastle-making, volleyball-playing, and sweet love making ( fingers crossed! ) delight! It's double cool for me cuz it's sort of an unofficial " coming home " party... ask me over a Corona, and I'll fill you in... Just wanted you to have the lowdown on Alma Paradiso according to me.

Since I was a wee little Saynt, dreaming the good dream about being able to share the music that moved me with with everyone in an effort to move them, one of my favorite daydreams was to be able to play music on some picturesque exotic beach somewhere. Right at Sunset. You know... the kind of sunset where the powers that be take thick and vibrant orange, purple, and blue brushes and color the sky... I'd always picture myself rocking out with this crazy tribal-style music. Something almost primal. Then, I'd imagine that there was a huge a crowd of folks there, some were dancing, but alot of them had drums. Big ones, little ones, empty paint jugs, empty water bottles... anything that made for a decent percussion instrument. We'd all be playing together. The same beat... all in sync. Conduits ALL for the divine pulse.
Funny thing about being a part of such a dynamic and encouraging community... you get to do shit like that. SO... On Saturday at Alma Paradiso, I will be laying down a tribal set from 7pm - 830pm. RIGHT through the sunset and RIGHT on the beach.
The only thing missing is YOU. So I'm putting the call out to anyone and everyone who wants to partake. Bring a drum. Big ones, little ones, empty paint jugs, empty water bottles... anything that makes for a decent percussion instrument and help me transition from day to night right there on the sand. Lets see just how huge we can make this drum circle. Our sacred space. Then lets see how many dancers we can bring into it. This is an endeavor for us all. We all take part. Beyond DJ or Drummer, we'll wake the gods, channel the divine pulse, and become participants in a very new spin on a very old style ritual. If you'll be joining us in Mexico, join me with your drum/jug/whatever on Saturday.

okay, so i am still hearing whispers of a party in OB a few weeks ago: a frat boy in a bar with wide eyes telling his frinds. Another: a student at Mesa shaking his head in disbelief still, recalling the "nudists" down the block. a resident of Abbot street scratching her head pondering how far they went down the street, trying to find a reason why people would do that so late.

i just smile, listening quietly, and staring off into space. people are still talking about you all. just so you know.

(so the guy says" yeah these nudidts were dancing down the street at like 2 or three in the morning..." and i ask him, "so these nudists, they wwere running around naked?"

he said, "well, yeah,... i mean they had thier shirts off.")

This is going to be a fund raiser for the Purple Turtle. Let me know if you are interested in being in it. Jonah was the first one to jump on board, so he has the cover and the month of January, but we got 11 months to fill up. Phil has to be in it too, because he was the first DJ I ever knew and that was way before I knew anything about the burner scene. I would also like Sims, Blue, BB, Wolfie, Lola & Levi, Porter Tinsley, Skandar, Angela’s bro (sorry I can’t remember your name at the moment). If all those people agree that leaves 2 free months. I am sorry if you know me and I have left you off this list, it is only because I am always so focused on taking pictures, I often don’t really know what is going on around me other than that and I like evil hip hop and most of you don’t play any of that.

Hi everyone!

As many of you likely know, I posted an event last week for a girls' get together. It seems the general concensus was for a 7:30/8:00pm dinner & drinks thing in La Jolla. A few suggestions were made as to location. I'll go wherever anyone wants (although budget could be taken into account since I'm rather freaking broke!).

I wanted to personally invite more of the girls I know but the event program only allows people on the friends list to be added. :o( I'll drop emails out today if I get time. Please post here if you're coming, or may join us, and we'll figure out where everyone needs to be. And just in case, I'll post my cell number so last minute arrangements can be made. :o)

Hey party people-

This is what I can remember of a set that I played at an 8:39 Productions party in LA called Conception.

I was the only drum & bass DJ on the lineup. The other DJ's played breaks, house, and psytrance. So I decided to play a raver set.

We were recording the mix at the party, but I blew out the power during my set... But since the crowd enjoyed the set, I decided to record it when I got home.

I wasn't able to capture the same energy at home by myself that a rocking crowd provides, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. =)

For making this such a wonderful first 8:39 event. The 8:39 crew and a slew of there friends got together to put this all together (and you should see the pics of how this place looked before hand) and we created this wonderland for you all to dance the night away. It was definitly amazing to see the transformation of it turning from a warehouse into a danceclub. Also big wondeful fat snuggles and thanks to all the djs and artists who came out to strut there stuff for us woowoo what fabulous freakin music there was all night long!! There are so many things to say and so many thank yous to be put out there.

Know that you are all appreciated by me and i love you all.

Thanks for being a part of the Conception!!!!
