Deep in the mountains of British Columbia, thousands of freaks gather every year for the legendary Shambhala Music Festival, a feast beyond your imagination, it simply has to be experienced. I was lucky enough to be invited to play set at 4 am on the last night of the festival on a stage called the Fractal Forest: 12 projection screens, a laser spewing pyramid, more sound that you should probably ever assemble in one place, and a DJ booth built into a 30 foot tree stump. Here are some pictures, but they really don't do it justice. I will never EVER miss another year of this festival. It truly is mind blowing,

Im tribe hopping in the hope that i can get every one to bring some lights. LED's or EL wire are low cost,colorful and fun. bring some for you and some for your bike. last year we had sooo many "dark people" and they get hit by bikes on the open Playa. they do have EL tribes in the land of tribe that have deals for kids that burn. tell others, it is safe and makes Burning Man look like, well... like Burning Man!

yes, I realize we are still a ways away from Burning Man.....but I've been thinking about food. I was thinking that canned food would be the best option. I read that you can recycle cans at Burning Man, and cans keep well.

What do you guys think?

Of course, I will bring other food that isn't in cans. Man cannot live on canned food alone.

so i could probly figure this all out myself by doing research but i maybe haven't had enough sleep the last few days/weeks, sometimes there's potholes in the summer in montreal you know, you can get stuck in them for a long time...

ANYWAYS, there's a few of us planning to come from here, we tried to make that map we were supposed to but it consisted of a drawing of a house (like a triangle on top of a square) and a footprint. it needed to be in feet right? but we also didn't really know the benefits of officially joining the brane. can we still come camp near you guys if we're not registered?

we're also a bit confused because we wanted to meet the july 1st deadline to be a registered theme camp as the Anti-Capitalist Ass Pirates but we didn't know if we could do both (join the brane and get registered). it's all so confusing.

but if we register on july 1st i guess they place us right? so we might not get placed near you. that would suck.

is it just me or is BRC getting a little BureacRatiC? maybe it's just me who's trying to be organized enough to actually do something.

i know this is scattered, sorry, but i need help. thanks!

JUNE 15 is the LAST day to turn in your final dimensions (an aerial sketch with dimensions in feet is preferred), your CLEANUP plans, and rough number of people.

IF YOU DO NOT TURN THIS INFORMATION IN YOU WILL NOT BE INCLUDED ON THE FINAL MAP. I can't guarantee you a place if you do not notify me. We will be alloted space based on this information, and year after year, BM shaves the sizes of villages and theme camps at will - so don't count on us having a ton of extra space in the end, because we probably wont! I'm combining all the canada peeps in indigo's awakening, Tribal harmonix,sunshine coast, nelson, and sure Calgary. The reason is that there is not enough people in any one city coming that wants to do there own camp. Indigo's awakening doesn't take much to join. There are 3 structures for day classes every day. Tribal harmonix, and some coast kids as well as gathering oof the tribes, moontribe, consciousness 4,conscious alliance, and more will be holdind panel discusions, mind, body,herbal classes ect. yoga medation. The classes are mostly taken care of unless you have someone interested in anything send them to me. There is a large camping place zoned for me to gather the canadians. You and your friends are so welcome. I guess you might not know some of who's involved. Dream theature 50 person cast sick theature, Whamp turbo shound on flat bed 18 wheeler for night parties on the playa, A new sick style of structure (dome esk but 30 feet tall.) blablabla.
So come on in. Just let me know who's with you. how many, what you plan to camp in, if you interested in comunity meals, connect me with the girls your with for some support on are goddess temple. ect.

Hello I have been checking out your postings and was wondering if you were interested in camping with the brane. I know the map is posted hear but I have alot of up dates to that. I'm on my way to Nelson for 2 months so if any of your crew was from vancover I could fill them in next week with all sorts of details. Indigo's awakening space was to be shared with any canada kids from Vancover,the coast, nelson, calgery, tribal harmonix kids, ect. I'm helping organize that factor. The tribal harmonix spot on the map will be taken by hombolt kids with a cuddle school and body work center. I'd love to fill in a rep for you guys while I'm in BC. You all seem fun and you should chill with the extended west coast family.

Anywho, my input is it seems like lots and lots of responsibility and only being a second year burner i really don't wish to take on that much work.. our smaller theme camp will be just enough for me to handle.. maybe in a few years when i've experienced way more out on the playa i'll be ready for a village.... anyone else got suggestions.. this does not take away from shawn's original idea though????

part of the brane village? or on our own?

So, some of us have mentioned being part of a village consisting of some people from LA, and possibly people from Portland, Vancouver, and Toronto. Others have said that this would be way too much work and we would rather concentrate on our own goals at BM rather than being part of a larger group. I am just wondering what the group consensus on this is.

Here is a post taken from "The Brane" tribe:

If you want to be registered in the BM master list of theme camps - you still need to register your theme camp with BM, and specify that you're located within THE BRANE village. If you're not concerned with being listed, don't worry about registering with them, because your cleanup plans and final placement will be taken care of as part of the village. (i would encourage you to register though)

Regardless - I still need your camp plans and clean-up plans (i'll post a deadline in a bit - so start thinking about it!) and whether you want to be placed on a ROAD facing out because you have an interactive camp with an entrance for participants (art cars automatically get this), or if your camp would prefer to be in the interior of the village on one of our interior roads.

each member of this community is so knowledgeable in their own unique way. it would be rad if we could use each others skills/experience to help one another out.

for the past few years i have been a primary organizer of some communal kitchens on the playa. if any group wants any suggestions frum meal planning, to frame work, to supplies, i would be more than willing to be of assistance. their are a lot of little tricks i have learned or had passed down to me that i would love to share with you all.

also our group is planning on building a geo-dome this year. none of us have done this before. we are looking into a design that is based with pvc tubing. i believe it is made frum 6 25' peices that are arched across in a circular shape (i don't have the exact plans infront of me). has any one had experience with this design? or does anyone know of another inexpensive structure we can create?

lets help each other out... thats what community really is all about, right?

is almost everyone in this tribe from calgary?

how hyped are people on being the the neighborhoo/village with camp beside calgary techno collective, possible LA moontribe, dream theatre, toronto om fest, vancouver tribal harmonix, and others?

i made a post in the part 1 did you catch it?

if we understand each others infrastructure we share structures and possibly sound and programming throughout the week.

we have a 6 sided pyramid stage in vancouver that we would be interested in seeing make the trip and sound potential as well.

we also have people with access to domes and probably much other communally sharable resources and workshop and music programming.

hey everybody! i'm joy. i enjoy long walks on the beach, gnawing at your shoes when you're not home and pushing wheelbarrows full of stars. last year was my first burning man and i am forever in love. ahhh l'amour. i also got the privilege and delight of meeting many beautiful kids from portland and got to ride back with some vancouver creatures of magic! There's been a lot of discussion and interest in gathering our tribes and setting up a little home together, in our bigger home that is burning man. what a great idea! so this tribe is intended to be an online home for us, to help collaborate on making this happen, and to share ideas, excitement, nailclippers and anything else that turns your crank.

so now that you know a little about me, show yo-self, or forever be a mystery.....until we burn the man down that is.

Soundsystem/Parties

Just sussing out which camps have been thinking about bringing a soundsystem and if so what they plan to do with it.

Personally i am not pushing for a party zone although with a village or a block it could be set up far from the sleeping zone which suits me fine. I would like to know if there were to be parties how many were being considered.

Soundsystems for me would come in handy for workshops and having camp music that's condusive to a chill atmosphere and not a non-stop party.

Soundsystems in the desert is considered real wear and tear on gear as far as dust (the finest particle of dust on Earth is found on the playa i read on the BM website). So designing any stage set up with this in mind is pretty key.
