I came home 2 hours ago after having had the assignment of being election supervisor at a voting centre.
Well, the votes have been counted, and the current government, with aide of the Danish Peoples Party and ONE north atlantic seat (faroe islands) keeps the majority. And despite polls, the Danish Peoples Party gain a seat...
We are not amused...

Re: Election results - we are not amused....
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 5:10 AMIt is not going to be part of the government, since the current government is not dependent on their votes to continue - however the prime minister has indicated that the party - New Alliance - will be given an invitation to gain some influence in political discussions, since the party had said the wanted the current prime minister to continue.
The problem in Denmark right now is, that all the political movement happened between the blocks.
The 'left wing': Social Liberals lost 8 seats. Socal Democrats lost 2 seats. Unity list (ex. commies) lost 2 seats. Socialist Peoples Party won 12 seats.
On the right: The Liberals lost 6 seats, the Conservative status quo, Danish Peoples Party won 1 and the New Alliance entered with 5.
So nothing is new - except - and forgive me - because I am very personal about this...
New Alliance broke out of the Social Liberals with one purpose - to keep the current government in power and at the same time make sure that the Danish Peoples Partys influence was minimized.... It didn't happen - the governments majority with Danish Peoples Party is intact. As a matter of fact - the Danish Peoples Party has begun pressuering the prime minister to NOT make deals with New Alliance.
Conclusion - the middle in danish poltics has weakened. The combined seats of the two middle partis - Social Liberals and New Alliance is LESS than last election where the Social Liberal party was the sole middle party. Legislation is bound to be even more one-sided.
Everything that New Alliance used as an argument to break out of the Social Liberals has been destroyed. And instead of a strong middle, that could give the current prime minister an option between the Social Liberals and Danish Peoples Party, instead of that, the right have gained more influence and the possibilty of compromises to the middle - or even over it - have been weakened.
