"Freedom March" September 11

Okay I know DC resistance has been declared dead but I feel like poking it with a stick to see if it isn't just sleeping.

As many of you know there's a "Freedom March" from the Pentagon to the National Mall on September 11. Anyone wanting to participate is "free" to register with the proper authorities and if they pass the screeing then they are "free" to join the march.

Of course it's a none-too subtle attempt (once again) to link the terrorist attacks of September 11th to the Iraq war just sickens me. Lene Reifenstahl would love this, though she might not care for Clint Black.

Is there any movement at all in this town to join the "Freedom March" with some free expression of our own? Rather than an an oppostion, wouldn't it be great to join the march in a very good natured manner, just with signs and slogans that might be a little too free. When confronted, one could smile broadly and say "Isn't it great how we can all get together and celebrate our freedom?"

Being thrown out of a celebration of freedom for having the wrong politcial views would amuse me for months.

Wow, well put. Didn't you know that we are only a few degrees of "freedom" away from a full military controlled state? Oh I CAN'T wait...all this thinking for myself just hurts :b

I don't know... my free thinking is pretty easy and linear.

It's the Christian Nationalist thinking that I can't seem to get my head around. For example: "Loveth thy neighbor unless thy neighbor is Hugo Chavez, then sendeth thee an operative to taketh him out."

Anyway... so the question remains. Is anything happening on the 11th or are we just ignoring the whole thing? I'd go alone but my fears of turning into the wig lady in front of the white house are just too great.

I still have a very uneasy feeling about that freedom march...especially after doing some reading about the NY anti-war anti-bush marches in 2004.

I hate to say this but I think everyone involved - both sides of the arguements - has the wrong approach. There are so many middle grounds and agreed areas of interest but the system forces us to polarized our efforts. I think we all could be a lot smarter about "waging our battles". I would go into it more, but it is late and a Saturday night = lame lame I am on the internet.
