I was nine, I think, & determined to buy a Beatles album (probably with paper route cash) so my dad took my down to the Woolworths in town - I remember standing in front of a metal album rack with him & having no idea where to start - he said 'You'd probably like the early stuff' & picked out Meet the Beatles for me. Went home & listened it into the ground & that was the beginning.

I was either 11 or 12 years old.
The 1st album I ever bought was called "Introducing The Beatles"
It was the 1st Beatles album actually released in the U.S. in 1964, it came out before Meet The Beatles.
Introducing The Beatles was on the VJ label, and was a stripped down version on the "Please Please Me" album.
Same tracks, excluding Please Please Me and "Ask Me Why."
I bought it because it was all that I could afford, it was on sale for $2.49, I was so happy and it was totally worth it.
I played that record 2 or 3 times in a row. When I heard "Twist and Shout" I freaked!

The first one I bought was a Rarities lp. The first ones I had were a beat up copy of Meet the Beatles and some other one. I still have them.

The first one I owned was Revolver, when I was about 8 or 9. I don't recall how I got it. Was it given to me? Did I buy it? I'm certain I bought/received it because it has Yellow Submarine on it, which was my favorite song when I was 8 or 9.

It's a funky copy, too - it's a UK pressing, so it has all the songs (unlike the US version of the LP). It's also in mono, on the Parlophone label. I still have it too, but of course I also have it on CD now.

To this day, I still say it's a great album, one of their best. That Rubber Soul / Revolver era was an amazing period for them.

Magical Mystery Tour! It was 1968, I was 10 and after buying singles up to that point I got a $5 for my birthday and my dad took me to a store called Zayre in Mt. Prospect, IL, where I debated in my head between Pepper and MMT. I went with the latter.

Like a lot of you, my parents had all the albums on vinyl, and I would sit and listen to them (or dance) every single night for quite a while. The first album I purchased for myself was Yellow Submarine when I was in the 6th grade because it was one of the only ones we didn't already have in the house.

With my own money??? i think it was "Yesterday, and Today" on Capitol Records. My siblings had all of the Beatles albums released in America on Capitol Records and, until I was 6 years old - old enough to pester my Mum into buying me every new Beatle album released afterward. I stole money from my best friend's house (at his urging, mind you - from a money-jar, and I was scared) and bought the White Album in early 1969. Since it was a double record, at $8.00, my Mum wouldn't buy it for me. I had to steal the money.....she had to pay it back to my best friend's Mum. Thank God I got to keep my copy of it!! I sure wish I could remember the serial number on the cover.
Just listening to the White Album - I'd lose myself, lying on the bed with my eyes closed, listening over and over and over again from Side One to Side Four!!
