Roofing shingle repair...tar in a can?

topic posted Sat, July 16, 2011 - 10:11 PM by  Benjamin
Do they sell roofing-tar-patches-in-a-can type shit at Home Depot?
A branch has worn through the roof EXACTLY where the plywood joins together in our roof...
and I'm dreading having to replace shingles and just want to glue some tar over it.

I don't know exactly what kind of goo is appropriate, but there are several varieties on their website:

I hope something there is useful to you. I wonder, would it be helpful to place some flashing on the area that the branch tends to wear at (assuming the branch can't be removed for some reason)?

I hope your project goes smoothly for you :)

Went pretty good. Got some goopy tar stuff and a thingy that squeezes it out.
Seemed to go okay, we'll see next time it rains.

Damn near fell off the ladder when I stepped down, after flushing out the gutters with the hose.
