Does anybody remember Lo Fi Customs? I built a chopper with parts I got there a few years ago and it was stolen. On Thursday, dropped like manna in front of my house, was a discarded bike with the same frame that I used for the first chopper, so some higher power clearly wants me to re build her. Sadly, Lo-fi is no longer in SF, and fixies are the hot item now. I can get the parts on line, but between shipping costs and wanting to support local bike shops I would rather get them locally. Any suggestions?
Yes, I have been down Valencia street.
DO NOT SAY CRAIG'S LIST. I REAPEAT: NO CRAIG'S LIST.
I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT CRAIG'SLIST, DUH.
I want a shop. If you hate bike shops I'm not asking you.
And I have already wasted like two hours on Google.

Most bike shops in major cities go with whatever "bike fad" is the current one so bikes we know and love are put on the back burner so to speak. SF is currently the "fixie capital of the world" right now and it boggles me as to "how" they even get those bikes up those SF "roller coaster" steeps with a 32 fixed gear.
Unfortunatly, unless you can find a local shop that either sells Lowrider bikes or is connected to a distributor of them and can order one for you,you are stuck paying the shipping fee's and ordering your lowrider online.
I agree about Craigslist, here in southeastern Idaho, all you "get" on CL is everybody's discarded Wal-Mart bike(Ugh!)
