Clothing and Shoes needed for outreach

The Leon and Mary Fields Foundation is set to host a Do Something Saturday~ that empowers people on Saturday September 8th in Venice. The event supports homeless people, low incomes families and seniors by providing meals, new and used clothes and shoes in good condition.

My first date in a LONG time

I was in a relationship for a little more then 9 years and we are still the very best of friends. But since it ended 5 years ago I have really put my time and energy into my business and as of February of this year my time in now devoted to my foundation.

I dont have any regrets and I would change the way my life has gone, but there are times when it would be nice to have someone to share things with. I know I have great friends and an awesome family. I have always been what many call "a stand alone person" meaning I dont mind if the entire world thinks what I stand for is wrong. I will stand for it anyway. I am not what many in the gay community would call a HOT guy. I am Kengi and thats all I know how to be. There are times when i would love to just chill with someone special. Someone I can talk to, cry with, camp with and FIGHT WITH. LOL. Oh Yeah they have to love USC FOOTBALL TOO.

Anyway, this guy has been reading my blog since April and he has been sending me cool messages and has even come to a few Do Something Saturday. He is even made the effort to come out when I spend 3 to 7 days on the street so I am in contact with people. Two days ago he called and called me to ask me out. I was shocked. Dontget me wrong, i dont think I am in any way ugly, but when lets face it. Gay men like fit men. ABS and all that. That just isnt me. I was that way in high school and college. I was MR JOCK, MR GYM. But I own a catering business and I am a private chef. Please dont tell me that I need to drop a few pounds because it isnt good for my body. I just had my annual check up and I am just a s fit as this tight ABS, great ass, awesome pecs sexy smile guy that was in the office with me. I n fact my fit test was better then his. So was my blood pressure and sugar and all that stuff.

The guy that asked me out is an awesome guy. I love his mind and his smile is so fucking sexy. He also has this AMAZING body. So tonight I am going to dinner with Chris. This is the first real date that I have been on in a long time. I guess for me whats really cool about this is the fact that this guy sees me for who I am and not what I should look like. I am so looking forward to dinner tonight. I guess I cant wear my outreach tot he homeless community attire. LOL

I had a fist fight last night. I really hate to fight, by I had no choice.

At around 10:45PM tonight I got into my first fight for my belongings. I am just happy I wasn’t too tired and my back didn’t hurt as much otherwise I could have been in really bad jam. I did bang my firsts up a bit, but I’m happy I am at least able to make this blog entry right now.

While I am very upset and a little shaken by this, I won’t blame the mentally ill homeless person who attacked me. It isn’t his fault. He is mentally ill and needs to be in a hospital and not out walking the streets attacking people only to get money for drugs that make him feel better.

I was walking up 7th street when it happened. The guy ran up behind me. I am very aware of the area down here on and around Skid Row so I stay alert all the time. When I felt him get close to me I moved quickly to the right but he was fast. He pushed me, so I swung and hit him in the face. It was dark and there were other people near by and I didn’t want to give them the idea that I was someone that they were going to be able to rob. He swung back and hit me in the jaw. This punk hit me pretty hard. I swung again and landed another hit to his face. I threw another punch with my right hand and hit him again in the face. The entire time I kept moving so he wasn’t able to grab me or hold me. I just kept swinging. The entire time I could hear my older brother mark telling me to stick and move and then I heard him telling me to knock his ass out.

This guy wasn’t giving up and I was getting tired. So I knew I had to hit him harder and make ever punch hurt and land. I stopped moving away from him and moved toward him. My body weight was more then his and I stood a better chance of knocking him down this way. I charged him and kept swinging and this took him by surprise. I kept hitting him in the head, face and in his side until I was able get my foot behind his and I swung and hit him right in the middle of his face twice. He began to fall back and I then pushed him to make sure he fell. I turned and ran away, but I also noticed that the crowd had gotten larger and they were getting closer. As I ran away one guy tried to hit me with a bottle but he missed. I ran from 7th and main to Figueroa. I was crying a little because I hate to fight. It doesn’t solve anything, but I wasn’t about to take a beating from someone who may have caused me lots or harm.

My hands are hurting and so does my face where he hit me a few times in both jaws. I guess this is what really pissed me off because I have been in my fair share of fights, but I have never been hit in my face. Each time he hit me in my face I would go black for just a second. I know if this guy could really get em up he would have hurt me. I jumped on a bus. I told the driver what happened and he called the police for me. While I don’t want to see someone who is mentally ill go to jail, I also don’t want him to attack someone who isn’t able to fight back.

My body is sore and my head really hurts. I am fine, but please continue to pray for me and ask God to place a HEDGE of protection around me. Skid Row is made up of more then just homeless people. For the most part the homeless people are harmless, but when you mix homelessness with drugs, mental illness and the feeling that there is no way out, people do some crazy things.
I am in a well lit area with plenty of people around and I am waiting for my two friends Cindy and Dom to arrive.

Again, please pray for me and ask God to protect me.

For the next 30 Days

On Monday at 6:00AM I will be leaving home tolive as a homeless man here in LA. I doing this for a few reasons. First is to better know how I can serve this ever growing community. Two is to raise awareness for homeless people and the unfair laws and other things they face. Three I am hoping to give everyone a face and a clear picture into homelessness. Not the one that places like the Salvation Army, OPCC, and the news media would have us to believe but the truth.

For over 6 months I have worked to inprove the living conditions for homeless people by asking them what they need and how I can serve them. I then ask my friends and family to get involved with helping. This is the second time I have done this mission.

I ask that you read my blog daily and jon me if youlive in the LA area on Saturday September 8th for DO SOMETHING SATURDAY ~ that empowers people.

30 days homeless AGAIN...Project KengiKAT swings into high gear

Ok, I know many of you are gearing up for or have even already left for Burning Man, I on the other hand am gearing up for something else, Another thing that burns inside of me.

I am gearing up for my own 30Day Burn. Yep, in about a week Project KengiKAT will kick into high gear once again. I will leave home and live on the streets as a homeless man. I have picked out the two shelters I will be staying at and I have also picked out areas where I will sleep outside. During this time I will blog, photograph and take video of my day and nights. I am doing this once again to raise even more awareness of just how much homelessness is impacting so many people from all walks of life.

DO SOMETHING SATURDAY

During my 30 days of living as a homeless man I am will have at least two HUGE Do Something Saturday ~ that empowers people events. The events will include a picnic and clothing exchange. Please watch my blog for ways you can get involved with my efforts to serve homeless people

I will announce the start of my 30 days tomorrow. On my blog and in my Do Something Saturday Tribe.

Given the current state of this country and the fact the only white men have sat in the oval office, I for one think it's high time that someone take over. I there have been few past Preidents who've done a great job at leading, but far more who've just made a complete mess and mockery of the office and this great nation. I for one think either Hillary or Obama would be great choices for this nation and would lead this nation of the road to complete recovery and not that of the current road of death and destruction.

Gay men suck ass

I know I will get some shit for this, but I dont give I dont care. It wasnt long ago right here on tribe that I and few other people who I call my friends were called nigger and tribe did NOTHING. Gay men mostly all 99.9% white defended this. When my friend Cindy was refered to as KLAN like, gay men 99.9% white also stood by this and said both comments were taken out of context. How can any black person take any comment like nigger and klan out of context when it comes froma white person?

The other day my best friend posted a cool thing about me and what I am doing. AGAIN two gay men. WHITE GAY MEN feel the need to attack me and take pot shots. If I were to call JAR JAR a tired old wheel chair queen I would be wrong and white gaqy men would jump all over me. if I were to call Travis a stupid fag, I would wrong and white gay men would jump all over me and there would be this entire movement to get me kicked off tribe.

It was ok for a white man to call me nigger and say my friend was KLAN like. It was OK for SAB to say what she did about Josh. It was ok for James to say what he said about Homeless Lou. GAY WHITE MEN 99.9% had no problem with these comments. In fact they thought they were FUNNY. A gay man, David made comments about a woman who was raped while lving in s homeless shelter. GAY MEN stood by his evil heartless comment. I simply said now if someone where to say you need dick in your life and call you a fag, there would be a huge outcry on you wrong this person is. So why is it OK for GAY WHITE MEN to attack homeless people, me and other blacks for DOING GREAT THINGS, but it isnt ok to call TRAVIS and JAR JAR two fucking fags who need some dick in their life? Why is it ok to call me a poser and assclown and TOU has nothing to say about this. Not a damn word?

When I see the gay community standing up singing WE SHALL OVER COME- but then use words like NIGGER when refering to blacks, makes me see thre gay community for who they really are. I know people will say. We all arent like this. Well when you sit by and allow it to happen, then you are in support of it.

My friend Vincent will tell. I dont care you're my friend. If you are wrong. I will be the first to tell. YOU ARE WRONG. Take his church Agape, they feed homeless people SPOLIED FOOD. This is no reflection on my friend, but he goes to church there and is always saying how great the place is. I told when I I have seen from this great church. Our friendship didnt end over this and Vincent hasnt launch an all out attack on me. But people like Jar Jar and James can say whatever they want to people because they are GAY AND WHITE and get away with it. I had better not respond because I would be forgetting my place.

Kengi is changing how people will look at and treat the Homeless

If you haven't checked out Kengi KAT 's blog and what he is doing right now in Santa Monica, you need to do it now. He is giving a face to the homeless so that we may open our hearts more. Treat them with dignity and respect. Get them fresh food, cleans socks, safe and comfortable places to sleep. Kengi is asking people what they need. Imagine that, talking to homeless PEOPLE, asking them what would make your life better right now? Kengi is asking and doing. I was with him one night and he asked our new friend Vanessa what she would like. Not, well we think you should have this and be grateful for what you get.

That is the attitude Kengi has come accross most of the time. I shared what Kengi is going through in with someone who is in a meditaiton group with me. This guy in my group had very narrow views and acted as if Kengi shouldn't have a lap top computer if he is homeless.
Where have we heard that before?

Kengi is starting an amazing movement toward caring more about our fellow man....and woman.

Our community is failing badly at providing services for Gay men, women and children who are homeless. The GLTB Center provides NO HOMELESS services to our community other then the few places they have for children. Even this isnt enough. We must work to change this.

I spent a hour with Kengi Today

Kengi called today and sent me on a mission. I had like 3 hours to complete it. I was ordered to get lunch for 30 people from Woody's BBQ on Slauson. I was also order to make 30 gift bags with items such as socks, lotions, deodorant, gloves, t-shirts and underwear.

I met Kengi with a group of people at the Ocean Park Business Park in Santa Monica.

Fed up with African Americans-Think Again!  A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of white people who were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people. At first these white people breathe a sigh of relief. At last, they said, No more crime, drugs, violence and welfare. All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The "NEW AMERICA" is not America at all-only a barren land.  1. There are very few crops that have flourished because the nation was built on a slave-supported system.  2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils, a black man, invented the elevator, and without it one finds great difficulty reaching higher floors.  3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man, invented the automatic gear shift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented the Super Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A. Morgan, a black man, invented the traffic signals.  4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because it's procurer was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson.  5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American, Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper.  6. Moving Even Beyond "Tolerance" to Celebration

I hear people talk about tolerance. To me tolerance can be just one step away from not getting hit in the face by someone. My spiritual teacher talks about not just toleratiing but celebrating people and all there differences; loving all colors and religions and ethnicities and sexes and orientations. Let's stop categorizing people. Some white folks say they are colorblind. That is not true. For me, I don't want to be colorblind. I want to see all the beautiful colors.

I was denied membership into the other alternative gay people tribe. I was told that I was a "Firecracker" I guess I was suppose to just be quiet while my friends were being bashed. Silence truely is a killer. Genicides happen because people are silent.

Let's celebrate differences instead of being scared of them. Peace and love to all who have joined so far.

What gays care about? I mean I know you need a great body, nice car and home. I know about HIV/AIDS and the whole let us marry thing. But what other things do gays care about?

The gay community has no services for people who arent affected by HIV/AIDS. Those are HUGE issues, please dont misunderstand me. But is that it? There is no room or time for anything else? hey I know you've got to get to the gym and that circut party is next week and John just lost his cat to a bad cold.

What does the gay community care about?

I am Lou and would like to take this moment to say thanks to many of you who are now part of this tribe who stood up for me. Thanks to many more of you who offered and showed someone so broke down like me support and love.

I am hoping with my blog that I am able to put a new face on homeless people. Just like it cant be said that all blacks are the same, it cant be said that all homeless people are the same either.

There is a very large number of homeless people who have lost jobs and are looking for work. An even larger number who have full and part time jobs but can not afford places to live. I ask you to open your minds, just like we as gays ask others to open their minds to us. I ask that you not lump all homeless people a lazy, drug users, whores, crackhead and other things.

We are students, workers, people looking for work and we need help just like the homeless drunk you just handed your food or $5 to.
We are human and deserve help, but most of all, we derserve RESPECT.

I've just gotten a invite from a "friend" and seeing it's first posting i noticed the moderator being a person who i 've been sending amessge to every so often over the month(s) or year(s) i had to join.
After just going through a clean out of a few "friends"(i don't collect them and it's still an awful lot of them,some i talk to a few times a year,no different then my sister but this "friend"stuff seems sometimes a little over rated.
Anyway,i wasa member for only 20 some hours of "the other alt gay "tribe" just to answer something that did interest me in a tribe that was Homostory 101,a tribe i like because it's preserving historic events and people (and not just homos,)i hate stickers of any kind and 101 is yet another that isn't right.
