I will be traveling Europe for five weeks from June 21st till July 26th. My only tentative plans are staying with family in Frankfurt and then on the Dutch border in the Black Forest. I hear that it is really cheap to fly out of London so I want to plan a trip to Southern Europe. I hear that Sevilla, Spain is beautiful and relatively inexpensive. It is also not too far from Lisbon so I was thinking of maybe renting a car and going there. I would also love to visit other places around the Mediterranean, maybe even Italy. I will be traveling with my mom so we will have money for about 100 dollars a day for this trip. Any suggestions would be great.. how to book a villa online (or any past suggestions)? Or bed/ breakfast type places to stay in Spain. Even maybe a cruise on the mediterranean (I have no idea how expensive this is).... The trip is not solidified I just would love some suggestions!!! I am in South Africa so basically relying on my mom to look up stuff in books in the states and she isn't really on top of it! Thanks again.

Re: Seville, Spain in July + Lisbon, Italy, and Mediterranean .. suggestions, help please!
Thu, March 4, 2004 - 12:12 PMWell Sevilla is an excellent choice, a beautiful Spanish town with great Moorish architecture ( the tappas is superb in Andalusia). In Spain it's easy to rent a Hostel, that's much cheaper than hotels and the quality can be quite good. Downtown Sevilla you will see 3 hostels in every street.......
........You better forget Lisbon this summer because the European Championship football (soccer) starts 12 June 2004 till 4 July 2004. The regular prices will be higher and every hotel will be packed with soccer fans and believe me you don't need that on your holiday :) ....
.......check out www.easyjet.com for cheep European airplane tickets, don't except any service on this flights........
....a cruise you're kidding right? wait 50 years for doing that!.........
......the Black Forest is not on the Dutch border but in the South of Germany, if you like traveling/ cycling it's nice but beware: it's an attractive area for gray hairy people.......
Don't forget Paris Amsterdam and Barcelona!
Enjoy your stay in Europe! -

Sun, July 11, 2004 - 1:47 PMSeville and Granada are very good places to visit, but unless you are used to very hot temperatures, you will be uncomfortable. I was there inthe late Spring a few years ago, and it was over 40 C!
I guess you could sleep during the day and go out in the evening when the place cools down. People will certainly be up and about even very late. The best tapas don't even get served until nighttime.

Thu, April 15, 2004 - 11:16 PMHi Erica - I just joined Tribe and saw your post. I wanted to let you know that Air Europa is another great way to buy online air travel while you are in Europe and they have great fares. You could take the train from Seville to Madrid and fly to just about any other major city in Europe. Be sure to check it out!

Native Spaniard here!!!
Fri, May 14, 2004 - 11:06 AMHi Erica,
I totally second your plan to go to Seville. Seville is a bewildering city with a *fantastic* night life. The only cons I see are: 1) you're gonna swelter to death if you go there around July (temperatures usually reach well over 40ÂșC). 2) Everything is gonna be damn packed up with tourists, so make sure you book your hotel or whatever well in advance. Also, beware of the cons that regent the typical "tapas" bars around the most touristic areas. They will rip you off with a broad smile and serve you substandard-quality food. As a rule of thumb, just avoid everything near the river for stops longer than it takes to gulp down a superchilled beer.
Also, please, make sure you visit Granada, some 70 Km away from Sevilla. You won't regret, trust me on this one. The same disclaimer applies, nevertheless.
As for cheap and convenient travel around Europe, I will suggest that you give a try to Frankfurt-based www.lastminute.com. You will find some of the cheapest air fares there, and I've been told the service is pretty reliable. Also, if you're considering to go to Europe for a whole month, you might as well want to check out the EuroRail passes, which allow you unlimited freedom of movement around several European zones for about Eur 400. -

Tue, May 18, 2004 - 3:17 PMwhen you go to granada, be sure to visit the north african quarter... a bit touristy in the market but oh-so-fun!
and if you can, go from granada to guadix, to the town where over 10,000 people live in cave-houses. there's one you can stay overnight in too, the people there are lovely.

Tue, June 29, 2004 - 6:02 PMHello,
Flights check out.....the bible
www.cheapflights.co.uk/low-co...ut.html
You can book cheap car hire through, easyjet car hire.
If you go into some travel agencies they can do a deal. Soem have specific deals with hotels where you pay 50 euros to buy a room voucher off them and they check you into a 3/4 star hotel for a night, or you can go for Hostales, or pensiones which are probably better and more or less the same.
Go to Granada and see the Alhambra, well worth it. I drove from Madrid to Caceres,Seville and then to Granada and on to the Alpujaras next to the Sierra Nevada. Very good roads, Madrid to Caceres is 2 and a half hours or so and the same from there to Seville.
The highway from Italy to Barcelona is the business. Very good.
If in doubt avoid touristy spots , unless its to do some recon for info........Best deals and prices are generally not in a resort.
Suerte y pasatelo bien...
