operatically trained vocalist and classical guitarist looking for musicians/band...

So that's what I am and I'm looking to form pr join a serious band. Metal/rock with a cello as well, maybe piano/keyboards... etc.

I haven't heard exactly what I want to hear in this (operatic metal) genre so I want to create it. I compose music every day, in many different genres but this is probably my favorite. I have a heavy dark classical influence when I compose metal. I like music with dynamics that can be hard or soft as well. I'm not so much into cheese. I like fantasy but not all the songs have to be about it. Image and stage presence is important as I hope to be marketable. Music is still the most important part.

I live in Montreal, I'm willing to travel and I assume that we will be anyways!

I prefer vegan band members but I'm happy with anyone as long as there are no animal products in the tour bus. It would really be nice to find some other vegan metal musicians.

Also I'm up to starting an accousic project if anyone is interested, or a project that mixes electronica with my singing and other instruments.

so i've been really getting into the Folk/Pagan metal movement that's splintered off from the black metal scene lately. i've always liked Irish and Nordic folk music to begin with so the blending of them with metal is right up my alley.

Bands like Cruachan, Orphaned Land, Tursis, Odroerir, Thryfing, Tyr.

slipknot v.s. mushroomhead

MY fav. band is slipknot and i started to listen to mushroomhead and i found out slipknot came out first and what mushroomhead relates to slipknot: 9 members,DJ,raps like corey talyor in parts of songs! and masks. I heard mushroomhead studied slipknot's features (got from website) it says its a rumore mushroomhead did that! my personal thought's, i thinks its true you put your thought's in this topic!

FYI: Sonoma County metal scene SUX ASSSSSSSSS

I just witnessed first hand why no bands bother coming to play in Santa Rosa and/or Sonoma County. A new venue for metal shows in Santa Rosa, called Epiphany Music, just opened up. It's been a long time since Santa Rosa has had a venue for metal. So this is a great thing, right?

You would think that metal heads in Sonoma County would come out to show their support for the venue. You would think that if some bands traveled from Long Beach and Willits to come and play in Santa Rosa, that they would get some support. Well, you may think that, but you'd be dead wrong.

In Sonoma County apparently it's currently the vogue to only go and see your local bands then leave the venue, not bothering to give the other bands (headliners), any respect for having put forth the effort to play here. Yet people in Sonoma County bemoan the fact that nothing ever goes on here, and there is no metal scene. Well, it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to figure it out, does it?

What a bunch of fucking bullshit! I'm heartily ashamed of this county. This used to be an area that musicians loved to play, not any more. The vast majority of the so called metal heads in this county deserve every bit of the mediocre existence that they're currently living. If you put out disrespect and laziness you only recieve it back in spades.

Until you change your actions the reality of a decent harsh metal scene in this county will never change. To both Putrefukation and Embryonic Devourment; I'm soooo sorry that this happened to you guys. It was neither deserved or called for, and I for one am very embarrassed.

New Dark Tranquility

OHHHHH MAAAAAN!!! Ok, I'm listening to the new Dark Tranquility album "Character" right now, and quite frankly, it RULES!!! This is one of the best albums I've heard come out of the Gothenburg scene in a while! DT continues their blending of old school Melodic Death roots with their more textured, keyboard influenced style(though the keyboards NEVER overpower, always used in a passing or backing sense). The first track actually opens up with blast beats!!! When was the last time you heard a Gothenburg band blast?? All in all, this definitely makes my preliminary "Best of 2005" list... hopefully this is a good omen for 2005 releases...

Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed onstage last Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio, just as his band, Damageplan, was beginning their performance. Also killed were the band's head of security, Jeffrey 'Mayhem' Thompson, an employee of the club, Erin Halk, and a member of the audience, Nathan Bray.

Damageplan was formed in 2003 by Dimebag Darrell and his brother, Vinnie Paul, following the disbanding of their previous group, Pantera. Damageplans debut album, 'New Found Power,' was released by Elektra Records in February 2004.

Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul were born and raised in Texas, the sons of country songwriter Jerry Abbott, who also owned a recording studio. The brothers formed Pantera in the early 1980s, going on to achieve multi-platinum stardom in the 1990s with their groundbreaking, uncompromising approach to metal music. They released a string of hugely influential albums, including the #1 charting 'Far Beyond Driven' and three other top ten albums. The band earned four Grammy nominations.

I saw Metal Church last night at this dive bar in Denver and they blew the roof off of the fucking place.

They played classics like Ton of Bricks, Watch the Children Pray, Gods of Wrath, and Metal Church. Plus the new stuff was fuckin' killer.

I am glad they have decided to record another album. It will be a must when it released later this month.

for some reason, i've simply never heard this song except at a club i go to frequently. i love the music, and i want to know who does it. the only clue i have is that there is a lyrics that says "pain is a tool" (i can't understand any other lyrics.)

i cant believe how Cannibal Corpse have been able to be consistent over the last 14 years. has it been that long ? it seems like a few years ago when i first heard eaten back to life & nearly shat myself. of course i can do without the noodly guitar leads, but the grooves & rhythms are there. how can i forget the gore? the thing i really admire is that the song writing has gotten very intelligent. this is something that the layman can't tap thier feet to because the track structure is constantly evolving. quality death metal indeed. highlights are the opener severed head stoning, blunt force castration & my thrash fave if you remove the fucking guitar masturbation, bent backwards & broken. well worth a listen but if you want truly innovative stuff i highly recommend Asterisk's "Dogma"

I saw this and had to jump in. Some of my favorites bands are Deftones, Tool, Origin, Mortician, A Perfect Circle, Metallica, and a bunch of other crazy shit. What's everyone here into?
