I'm 3/4 the way thru my first 2 exposures to him - "Fortress of Solitude" and a collection of short stories, "Men and Comics"....
I avoided "Motherless Brooklyn"... it was just TOO popular when it was out....
It's SO wild in 'Fortress' to read about not only the street names of my childhood of Flatbush / Downtown / Bklyn Heights, but the stores and places i remember....
But i do wonder how much of my liking his writng IS just a somewhat narcissistic thrill at feeling 'in by knowing SO much of what he's writing about.....
