Don't drink the water?

Man, who else has noticed the funky smell coming from the tap in NYC for the past 8 months or so? The taste is also quite noticeable!

This, at a time when Mayor Bloomberg has been bragging about the City's fabulous tap water... encouraging residents that it's not at all necessary to purchase bottled water since NYC has such clean water for free.

So, Mr. Know-it-All, is it "clean" 'cuz they're adding tons of chlorine? That's definitely one of the foul smells that has permeated the taps (this year) in my opinion. It also has a bit of "rotten egg" smell; totally grosses me out! I don't wanna shower or brush my teeth with that crap :-(

Please let me know who else smells it -- What are your thoughts?

eww....well I've been in Greenpoint over a decade, and I won't even give my dog tap water...unless it's been filtered....talk about funky smells....all these folks snapping up property and most of them don't realize what's going on underground..

Read somewhere that tap water (don't know if this also applies to NYC) has more chlorine in it than your average swimming pool....ick. And what does chlorine ingestion, not to mention flouride ingestion do on a long term basis? I'm guessing it's not a good thing...

      yeah --

come to think of it, I smell it much more when the faucet is running... not nearly as much in the glass.

Naw, I wuz wrong... too hasty, i guess. Ever since, I've been bottling tap water in plastic & glass containers of various sizes; as big as a gallon, as small as a pint. This is as far as I need to go in my experiment -- Y'know why?

'Cuz this crap tap water is clearly polluted... no matter how you cut-it!

Under scrutiny, it smells the same in each & every container no matter 'how big or small'.
After it has sat for a while it smells less, until you "shake-it-up".

So, Mr. Bloomberg... what does 'that' mean?
