Like many potent things, we are often simultaneously attracted to and fearful of fire, and for good reason. For many fire is associated with the erotic, the sensual, the sexual; it is aesthetically enchanting, mesmerizing in its dynamic beauty. But fire is also dangerous, and potentially destructive. To play with it is to dance with one of the most powerful, focus-and-respect-demanding partners imaginable. Contact fireplay is one way of dancing with fire. It is perhaps the most intimate, allowing the flames to caress you, allowing you to "hold" the flame. Contact fireplay can intensify sensually intimate partnered experiences, ritual performances, dance and other types of dramatic performances.
