Hello my fellow eco-warriors! Thank you for journeying with me upon this wild eco-rant. Like you, I care about the trees and the air and the water and the earth. I long to breathe clean air into my pedestrian lungs. My vegetarian tongue craves the sweet nectar of peaches and plums uncontaminated by pesticides and hormones. I wish upon a thousand stars that our one lonely sun will blaze just warm enough to permit our long term survival. Like you, I want health, I want happiness, I want survival! I want to witness all the birds break free from the cage of extinction, I desire to hear the lions roar and the eternal flapping “whisk, whisk” of butterfly wings across unknown eternities.

Like you, I refuse to own a car, or eat meat, or buy excess luxuries. I shop at Goodwill and search the FREE category on craigslist in hopes that one less woman will slave away in a sweat shop, one less chicken will be debeaked while flapping its wings in agony, one less soul will suffer for the sake of my consumer bliss.

I too, have attended the eco-rallies, and yes, I have voted for Green Party presidential nominee Ralph Nader. I too, have watched endless movies and read the latest books on the subject of sustainability, global warming, and “how to make it all go away.” I too, have attended the green seminars, listening to hours of lectures, talking, chatting, discussing, and arguing on all matters of saving the environment.

Where did the time go? The energy? The knowledge? The wisdom? The lessons learned? The inspiration? Hundreds of hours spent dabbling in the sustainable community. The hustle and bustle of the gatherings, the hoots and hollers at the rallies, the chat and chuckles over “the issues”—all are echoes now. Sure, great changes came about. Consciousness was spread, absolutely! No doubt. Love was shared, compassion expressed—thoughts turned into action. Indeed. Bravo, my eco-friends, my eco-community, my eco-world!

But much was wasted, lost, and forgotten along the way. The echoes blew away with the winds of consciousness. A drawer full of eco-brochures glanced over once, business cards never replied to, messages fading in a sealed bottle of time.

I heard the leaves of autumn rustle and my mind awoke me back to reality! Pragmatism and action began to crowd out philosophy and thoughts. I was reminded of one of my first heroes who spoke to my soul before the word “sustainability” was part of my vocabulary. Karl Marx. I remembered his words, “Workers of the world, unite!” I thought of the toiling masses of yesterday and the still toiling masses of today. Worlds apart from me and my sustainability friends. Sure, they hear about it on the nightly news and read about it in the paper between two or three part time jobs. But too tired, too caught up in survival, perhaps, to consider the environment. I hear Marx’s words spoken about the division of labor, the cruel labor abuses, the alienation, the struggle of classes, the wastefulness of bureaucracy.

Ah, the history of man!

I think of the labor movement, the strikes, the victories for higher pay and fewer hours, worker safety and health care benefits. Such similar struggles, labor rights and sustainability. Warriors fighting for a new truth, a better world, a more ecstatic existence.

But how to bridge such seemingly alike worlds that are yet so far apart?

We must join forces on the happy middle ground where sustainability meets class justice. We must cease to merely preach to the choir of sustainability—and we musn’t preach our message to the masses. Religion has created enough distress with its impositions, its self-righteousness, and its unreasonable demands. Let us not make that mistake for another six millenniums. We must communicate in the language of the struggling masses. We must first understand and sympathize with our working brothers and sisters, and only then begin to work together on a solution to our dead-end lives of slave work and slave wages. Let us not parade the masses down the endless road of chit-chats on the environment and political rallies, eco-conventions and voting booths. The masses know hard work, and this is their greatest asset! We who preach from the alter of sustainability have much to learn from our working class counterparts. Hard work—let us channel this powerful energy, skill, and diligence into a sustainable future. In the words of Marshall McLuhan, “The medium is the message!” And in this case, the medium is eco-preneurialism. Let us not preach the high-browed language of righteousness, but speak the humble language of survival. Let us not form more redundant organizations, engage in more discussions, or march down more roads to nowhere. Let us not create more jobs, but lead workers down the path to self-enterprise. An ounce of business is worth a pound of politics-- and a hundred eco-preneurs, worth a million men marching!

Time has come. Let’s get to work!

Aloha!

Souldancer here. I recently joined an AMAZING constellation of savvy, skilled, financially sound leaders on Hawaii's Big Island. They're cooking up something - simply, profoundly amazing! The call it TAG - The Abundance Game. This game will touch lives - locally and globally in a manner I've not seen in four decades.

Now - BEFORE YOU ALL GROAN and mutter, "ya right! What EVER!!" - (like I did BEFORE I joined in on a free conference call), I invite you to:

1) review http://celebrate888.com (keep in mind, this is a very simplistic "feeder page" designed to weed out anyone who's got a short attention span. What they're planning is so global and intricate, it's clear ONE website WILL NOT cover it all).

2) dial into the conference call - any day - between now and 8/8/8 at Noon (Hawaii Time; 3 p.m. PST, 4 p.m. MST, 5 p.m. CST and 6 p.m. EST). In this call, you'll discover the mountains of amazing things this group has planned to launch based on a decade of research and development. In a nutshell, this group plans to launch on 8/8/8 a new way of living an abundant life - more ethically and with integrity, than we've seen in some time.

3) GET a TAG number. It's free! There's ZERO need to buy or sell anything. Here's a direct link to getting your TAG ID:
http://www.The888Event.com/?id=0souldancer@gmail.com

Be sure to join this conference call for you'll meet the leaders of this group - in person. Ask your questions. (This is NOT a recorded "talking head" conference call.) If you can be in front of a computer while on the phone - all the better! You'll access password protected sites that'll amazing you!

"Nothing ventured NOTHING gained!"

I look forward to knowing you well!

Namaste

The Action Hero Network is a hub for activists... a network of networks... a way to empower anyone to get their message out in a big way, because there is power in numbers. Even if many people can't take part when events are not in their hood, it is important to know so many are doing good work.

Razoo.com has a contest to promote this new website (which is an action hero network) and will give $10,000 to the group with the most support.

This money could go to Stitch Uganda Together: http://beta.razoo.com/causes/stitch_uganda_together , and the rest would go to hosting an action hero gathering in Roblito, Mexico ( www.solomax.com/roblito.html ) again this winter... a sort of activist summer camp, combining service and adventure. These are images from last winter: http://actionhero.smugmug.com/gallery/2468421#129472990

I'm now putting out the call to all activists to spread the word to Join the action hero group on Razoo.com ..and if they have a cause, they can create their own group there. Action Hero is a place to whatever you are doing, so use that space to promote Abundance.

Please join and share opportunity with your network: http://beta.razoo.com/groups/action_hero_network

The Pew Internet & American Life Project today released a report describing how the internet improves Americans' capacity to maintain their social networks and how they gain a big payoff when they use the internet to activate those networks to solicit help.

The report is based on two surveys and finds that the internet and email expand and strengthen the social ties that people maintain in the offline world. The surveys show that people not only socialize online, but they also incorporate the internet into their quest for information and advice as they seek help and make decisions.

Disputing concerns that heavy use of the internet might diminish people's social relations, the report finds that the internet fits seamlessly with Americans' in-person and phone encounters. With the help of the internet, people are able to maintain active contact with sizable social networks, even though many of the people in those networks do not live close to them.

The report, "The Strength of Internet Ties," highlights how email supplements, rather than replaces, the communication people have with others in their network.

Be sure to save the date - Thursday January 5th, 6pm - for the next
Abundance League. Location details below.

We are excited to start 2006 welcoming some new Abundance Leaguers and
reconnecting with those who helped us create this community of cooperation,
trust, authenticity, and joy during the past 8 months.

As well as the usual announcements by members, a unique opportunity has been offered to our community by our new leaguers from Austria - Doris and Harald.

Seems by day Harald and Doris make their living analyzing social networks
with the aim of maximizing value creation. How Abundance League of them!
Usually they do this for high tech clients and governments through their
company FAS.research, but they've offered to do a social network analysis of
The Abundance League as a gift to the community. The end result will be a
visualization / resource map of The Abundance League as a social network of
resources. How cool is that? Thank you Doris and Harald!

So after announcements, Harald and Doris will give an overview of the
practice of Social Network Analysis and then will walk us through what we,
the study participants, need to do so they can complete a social network
analysis of The Abundance League.

Given the success of the analysis relies somewhat on a good turnout for
January 5th, we hope you will make a special effort to attend. We're looking
forward to this as an excellent group learning experience with a very useful
artifact as an output.

We hope to see you there!

Dear Abundance Leaguers,

We are super excited to invite you to our next Abundance League on Thursday, December 1, 6pm-10pm. (It's starting to look like TAL is every first Thursday.)

We are proud of the community that is steadily forming around the ideas of interconnectedness, cooperation, and joy. We're committed to seeing us all grow and thrive with each other's support.

We are hoping that the Abundance League will be a nurturing place of interaction for the development of deep and fun relationships, where we can make friends that we can call community members. We want the Abundance
League to be a space where we can help make someone else's life easier and find collaborators in realizing our hopes and dreams.

We want the Abundance League to be a fun event about social interaction, community building, and our projects related to this. In the USA in 2005, the phrase "community building" is used all too freely by businesses and institutions that really aren't dedicated to collective empowerment.

How about we, the people with common interests living in a particular area, spend time together to find out what those interests are and reinvent our area?

In the spirit of a new and improved Abundance League, we'd like to see other members of the community help us make it happen. Some of the ideas floating around the last gathering were to have rotating locations, so we can all host and feel ownership over this great event. Having a potluck dinner style gathering for the relaxed vibe and ritual aspect that food and drink bring into any meeting of souls was proposed as well.

We are full of ideas and energy and can't wait to see you all again so we can move forward with inventing this together. We would like to see the kind of community that is invested in their members being aware and present, feeling supported in living the lives they want, being of service and in fun, here and now.

See you soon!

"At present, people create barriers between each other by their fragmentary thought. Each one operates separately. When these barriers have dissolved, then there arises one mind, where they are all one unit, but each person also retains his or her own individual awareness. That one mind will still exist even when they separate, and when they come together, it will be as if they hadn't separated. It's actually a single intelligence that works with people who are moving in relationship with one another... If you had a number of people who really pulled together and worked together in this way, it would be remarkable. They would stand out so much that everyone would know they were different."

Beautiful feeling to start articulating the detailed description of the culture we are strving for and thriving in.

I wanted to share with you the message I sent to my family that is changing the holiday dynamics in my family. Feel free to copy and paste! Think of what would happen if a huge number of people did this...
Dear Family,

Unfortunately, we won't be joining you for the holidays.

Andrea and I have decided that we will celebrate the holidays in the following way. Tell us what your favorite cause is and we'll donate $100 to it.

If you'd like to do the same for us, for whatever amount you are comfortable with, our cause is Forest Ethics. You may send us a holiday card with a check made out to Forest Ethics.

PLEASE DON'T MAIL US GIFTS.

We've decided to do this for a couple reasons. First, neither Andrea or I are Christian.

Second, it seems inappropriate to participate in the orgy of consumption associated with the holidays as the links between the consumer lifestyle and human and environmental devastation become abundantly clear. Rather than contribute to this societal self-destruction, we'd rather learn about the causes you care about and support them.

Love,

Dear Abundance Leaguers,

We're so grateful for what the Abundance League has brought to all of us involved with it -- new friends, practical help, camaraderie, inspiration, and the direct experience of abundance.

As far as we are concerned, it has been an incredible earning experience, crucial to our own personal evolution. We've learned that co-creation is not just a group process, but also a dialogue between self evolution and group evolution. We've learned that fidelity to the integrity to oneself simultaneous with fidelity to the collective is true, just, and powerful.

We hope each of you has gained somehow.

We are deeply grateful to all of you. You have been fearless in your self-expression and commitment to your visions. These visions speak of a world where everyone is welcome, where everyone is valued, where everyone is free
to give and get help with their passions, where beauty flows abundantly from the springs of co-creation, mutual support, and cooperation. We have witnessed incredible outpourings of artistic beauty, of passion, healing wisdom, and personal and collective truth. Oh yeah, and there were all your
great projects! Thank you for sharing yourselves so generously!

We are also incredibly grateful to Scott Levkoff and Polly Whitaker who were our partners in creating and hosting the event. Without their inspiration, wisdom, and deep experience with the co-creative process, the Abundance
League would not have happened. Not to mention the wonderful community space that they've created for gatherings. We are grateful to have such fearless servants of evolution in our midst! Thank you Scott and Polly.

While we have benefited greatly from this experience, wonderful new developments in our lives preclude our continued coordination of this event. We'd like to have one
more Abundance League with Neal and Maritza as organizers next Thursday, November 3rd.

We look forward to inviting you to a new gathering that will be focused in creating and nourishing a tighter community and will emphasize social interaction. Stay tuned.

We hope to see you Thursday!

Where: Maritza's house, 1117 Tennessee St. #3
(nearest major cross is 22nd and 3rd Streets)
When: Thursday Nov. 3. 27th 6:30-9:30ish
What: Abundance League Monthly Gathering.
There will be no featured speakers, just announcements and mingling.

Abundantly yours,
I very much enjoyed the opportunity to meet with you all yesterday. Thank you for allowing me to share my vision about what I call..conscious rEvolution. I have been putting a lot of work into this..not generated income from a regular job for about 2 years, but rather focused most all of my time and attention on my personal studies....

I am just now in the process of putting all the material together, and I realize how much work is involved in this...so..I could definiltey use all the help I can get..from writers..editors..web designers, media people..I need help with promotions...distribution of marketing material..organization of workshops and semiars..and on and on the list goes....

Right now I am working on a mission statement for the group I am organizing, and also trying to put together flyers and a brochure. I definitely could use and would very much appreciate your assistance..also..maybe you know how to put together a business proposal..or how about writing a grant?
Maybe you have an idea of how to market this material to other social groups or organizations here in the Bay Area. Since I have trained myself to present publically I am looking for the proper outlets and an audience to share this awareness with...so please let me know if you can think of anything that could help get this rEvolution on the road.
people! Check them out at www.planetwork.net

---------------------------------------------

The Abundance League Charter
The Abundance League is a growing network of social
visionaries, instigators and community leaders that gather
monthly to explore the social architecture of sustainability,
to share positive solutions, and to co-create a new culture
of abundance. Our focus is not only on results, but on the
process of collaboration and mutual support. We are open
to everybody.

The Abundance League Mingle Dynamics-
Our community supports the following dynamics….

Be authentic
Represent yourself, your passions, and your projects
authentically

Give authentically
Don't give beyond your means, make offers you cannot
honor or give gifts with expectation of return!!!

Say hi
Smile, or "tip your hat" to acknowledge those directly
around you or walking by. Acknowledging is a
simple way to honor and welcome others.

Make connections
Introduce others to those you've met. A good community
is often a place where everyone knows everyone.
Connecting the dots is fun.

Ask questions
Learn about those you meet. Ask about their passions,
talents, and projects so that you can introduce
them to the people and ideas that can help them.

Help if you can
Once you learned someone's passions, offer them a favor
such as e-mailing a link, recommending a book,
giving moral support, or making an introduction.

Listen
Listen to others as you would want them to listen to you!

Sparkle
Be bright and brief in group conversation. Honor others'
time and attention.

Mind if I Mingle?
If you want to break from a group, say politely something like,
"it was nice meeting you, do you mind if I continue mingling?"

Make yourself known
Share your opinions, talents, projects, and passions in an
authentic and respectful way. Let people know where you
need help.

Remember names
Using a new acquaintance's name several times in conversation
can help you to remember it. Do not be afraid to ask their
name again if you forget.
