POPULAR ASTROLOGY

It is hopefully not too rude to divide astrology into professional and popular, as a division in quality may help understanding the ups and downs of astrology as science but also as superstition. As with many other things, such as music, there is a distinct division between popular and particular, even academic approach. Often the two coincide in e.g. a composer who writes popular music besides enticing the trained ear of a professional.
POPULAR ASTROLOGY
Popular astrology is based on known Sun signs that serve also the purpose of ascendants. What makes it popular is that it never changes. There will always be twelve ascendants much as the zodiacal signs will always follow the same order. The apparent order as based on artificial immutability has nevertheless being achieved by violating the basic laws of astronomy, primarily that of precession. Precession namely applies not only to the equinoxes, but also to the ascendant set. Let us resume the main characteristics of popular astrology, for later reference and comparison.
1.
As if there were no precession, we pretend to live in a perennial age of Aries.
2.
There are twelve equally divided zodiacal signs. These do not figure in the real sky1.
3.
The twelve zodiacal signs allegedly rise at east2.
4.
One is restricted to a choice of twelve ascendants.
5.
A horoscope can have only twelve ascendants!
6.
The zodiacal signs should function as ascendants3.
7.
Astrology meant fun, horoscopes were made for entertainment purpose and often had a non-divinatory character. The popular mind sometimes makes use of transits in order to divine issues. Predictions are often largely vague.
AMATEUR ASTROLOGY
1.
Amateurs use directions in order to determine issues. All incipient calculations are made by memory4.
2.
A predictive astrologer does not need ephemerides, pen, paper, pocket calculator, iPod, Internet or PC programs5, as all calculations are performed by heart6.
3.
Amateurs divine issues to the year and month of an event7, while professionals determine the exact minute of the event.
4.
An amateur will calculate all the main loves affairs in one's life in perhaps fifteen minutes. The delineation that follows is colored by quality and direction.
PROFESSIONAL ASTROLOGY
5.
The blueprint of your original natal sky is produced by using relevant data.
6.
The authority behind all calculations are NASA JPL and Harvard MPC.
7.
The zodiac is measured scientifically in order to ensure maximum accuracy.
8.
The number of the zodiacal constellationsi is 22.
9.
The ascendant set is subject to precession, and therefore change.
10.
The number of eastern ascendants for the epoch is 16.
11.
The meridian set is seen as separate in number and quality.
12.
The local zodiac8 is interpolated from flyby dataii.
13.
Astrology is a predictive, and therefore experimental or even exact science.
14.
Predictions are minute.
15.
More than 300 types of traditional directions are used, along with the ascendant ephemeris and secondary angular direction.
16.
The astrologer peruses favorite directions in divining specific issues. E.g. tertiary yearly lunar direction of LILIT VERA9iii, lunar kinetic direction of the Moon or secondary angular direction of Eris towardsiv Algol.
17.
The Cartesian house system handles all possible situations even off the planet. It houses the dwarf planetsv, comets and centaurs, besides a host of objects of interest. It is sensitive to altitude and thus performing as e.g. seaquake agentvi.
18.
The cardinal points of the horoscope chart are east, south, west, north, nadir and zenith.
19.
The Cartesian house system clearly shows one's true natal ascendant, e.g. Hydra and meridian constellation, e.g. Phœnix.

1Not is the sky, meaning they do not correspond to the real constellations and star clusters, which are unequal apart from differing by number and quality. The answer to “Where are then the twelve signs if not in the sky?” is ”Fancy”.
2Allegedly implies that they are mostly not rising at due east, according to the epoch of interest.
3Provided that the rise at east. There is nevertheless a slight difficulty here, described as follows. The ascendant set is always measured at due east. There are 16 ascendants rising at east for the present epoch. The ascendant set was measured for different epochs as well, as published along with the appropriate results. In summing up, there are 88 ascendants in a precession cycle. At the present epoch, the following zodiacal constellations do not rise at east: Scutum, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aries, Auriga, Gemini, Cancer, Crater, Corvus and Libra. Taurus is rising only for five minutes at east in a daily cycle. In the next cycle, Venus will rise in Pegasus at east, thus announcing the new Æon.
420 Minutes Astrology.
5In fact, PC programs tend to slow down one's performance, jam intuition and suggest crooked solutions to what was meant to be plain calculus.
6Even complex synastry calculus can be performed by memory by a skilled amateur.
7E.g. one can be instructed in about twenty minutes in a simple marriage calculation method. From that moment on, one can consider oneself initiated into the simplest divination method. This sort of divination is fast as no talent is needed to determine e.g marriage for anyone in about five minutes or less. Note that we are talking about amateurs and people without any astrological talents at all. If they are able to tell the year of your marriage in seconds, imagine what a real pro can do!
8Planetocentric Astrology, Astrology in Outer Space.
9Square Moon would predict menstrual issues.
iUnderstandably, for planet earth. The local zodiac is the Academic Zodiac.
iiThe universal Cartesian house system handles horoscopes even in outer space. The board mainframe determines the local zodiacs while in a flyby simulation. The implementation of this system is pending, but tests were already performed with success. See also Planetocentric Astrology or Astrology in Outer Space.
iiiCassini Lilith or LILIT VERA, the observed object.
ivOr with. Eris namely makes an exact conjunction with Algol.
vThe newly discovered dwarf planets are immediately entered into the chart wheel upon their discovery and delineated before obtaining a name. See also Dwarf Planets in the Seventh House.
viE.g. 2002 AW197 rising in Hydra, depth 4.5 miles.
