Hi, I just moved to New York City and I am searching for others who do acro-balance here. I'm not super serious about it but I had a group in Olympia WA where I'm from, who used to get together and practice. I am an ex- gymnast, caporista and am in to other circus arts so acro-balance was a natural step for me. If any body knows where I should go here, whether it be a person, studio or circus let me know.

Re: Acro in NYC
Wed, November 15, 2006 - 9:19 AMHi morgan,
I dont know if there is any acro in NYC, but check out www.acroyoga.org as they have just updated their website with lots of new teachers around the place. Its like acrobalance but with more of a stretching focus!
All the best

Re: Acro in NYC
Mon, March 5, 2007 - 12:06 PMHi Morgan,
I'm from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY about an hour and 15 minutes from the City by train. There are a bunch of us in my circus troupe who balance. We do a lot of partner balancing and are currently getting into some hand balancing. I LOVE balancing, and I love to share my passion for it with other people. If you want to come up and play with us, PLEASE do!!! Or perhaps myself or some of the other balancers can make it down to NYC sometime soon.

Re: Acro in NYC
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 9:25 PMHey there - I'm currently at Evergreen and wondering if you did acro with the Circus Resurgence or another group? I would love to find some serious acro folk to practice with. If you can put me in contact with anyone, that would be fabulous. Preferably not classes - I'd rather just find a group of fun people, perhaps interested in performing.
Thanks, and I hope you found a group in NYC.

The New England Center for Circus Arts is just 4 hrs away by train, in Southern VT. (www.necenterforcircusarts.org). We don't have any acro groups, but do a lot of special lessons with people who come up for training sessions. Bill Forchion and Serenity Forchion are the coaches, and they did Cirque du Soleil, and trained with Lu Yi in San Francisco.
Cheers,
Elsie
