Re-Turning-On/Re-Directing Passions

As the relationship that has been activating me changes radically, I find that I must find new and different passions toward which to turn my attention.

What else is there, if I "believe in love after love," to do but to return to my foundations, whatever they are, to whatever was activating me before the connection was made that became this relationship? Whatever that was, I know that it had the power to activate me, and why shouldn't it still? If it was important enough to turn my attentions and my passions toward not so very long ago, is it not still a worthy pursuit?

And surely, as I have grown from this relationship--and I have--I have discovered and rediscovered other worthy pursuits...

I think of the song I know as "Return Again":

Return again, return again
Return to the land of your soul.

Return to who you are,
Return to what you are,
Return to where you are
Born and reborn again...

--Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach

As I contemplate the more difficult implications of this relationship's end (at least as I have known it), especially the possibility that "he just wasn't that into me" and was kidding himself and, by extension, me about his enthusiasm (an unflattering thought, to say the least), I must find what births and rebirths me. So many directions in the sphere of my influence: literally an infinite number, if one is to apply the geometric metaphor...

There's no hurry, *and* time is of the essence: it is one of those paradoxes.

I know that applying my energy to a cause and power greater than I will keep me from plunging into an unhealthy amount of introspection, and yet will give me room to continue to grieve and heal.
