I need an energy worker/shaman for my mom. She is western trained doctor and has finally agreed to humor me but letting me arrange some energy work. She has A.L.S. and I believe it is due to a lifetime imbalance between heart and thosrt chockras. If anyone can help please let me know (she might change her mind-- so the sooner the better!!)

"War Games" IN THEATERS! One night only.I think

I think we should make THIS our July outing!

The following is basically a cut & paste of the thread I started in the Atlanta tribe:

In November 2006, pre-production began on a sequel to War Games called "WarGames: The Dead Code"

MGM will release the sequel directly to DVD on July 29, 2008 along with the 25th Anniversary Edition DVD.

To promote the sequel, the film is returning to selected theaters as a one night-only 25th Anniversary event on July 24, 2008.

well here's a sudden thought for a july activity. it seems i'm gonna celebrate the advancement of my age into an "old" category at my place on friday somewhere round 8:00. Prolly earlier if you'd like to go swimming ... and prolly later if you'd like shuffleboard. so let me know if you'd like to come over and play gumming for apples, have *walker races*, and hear endless myths about "when i was your age ..." plz let me know if you'd like to attend this rite of passage into anility ... and if you'd like directions to the whereabouts of my unassisted living facility.

Alchemy, the georgia burn, art FUNdraiser party at the Blue Tower Gallery

My band, Half Black Lit Shack, will be playing at the Alchemy art FUNdraiser party so I figured I would put out the official notice that was sent out about it:

Come get your groovy art on at the Alchemy Art FUNdraiser to support the art installations at Alchemy this year!
You will have the opportunity to look at the artists proposals, talk to them about it, get an idea of what it will look like, how you can interact with it and what you can do to help make their vision a reality at this year's event.

The fund-raiser is going to be held at Blue Tower Gallery (www.bluetowergallery.com/) on June 21st, 2008, 4pm until Midnight.

To get into this awesome party you pay $10 per person at the door, which will grant you two art shares to put towards the installation of your choosing! Additional art shares can be purchased at $5 each. Children under 10 years of age get in free.

*The proceeds taken in at the party will be given directly to our artists at the end of the night!
Come help make their installation dreams a reality!

This is a family friendly event. Children are definitely welcome! We are going to have a special activities area set aside just for the kids!

Tornado Debris Art this weekend

Art show, raffles, bands, DJs, and drinks with Monet!

Some local artists have collected debris from the hurricane, primarily collected in Cabbage Town. Then we made art out of the debris, which will be auctioned along with all the other fun to raise money to help Cabbage Town recover from the twister. Somehow I have more sympathy for the little bungalows that blew away than I do for the windows on the downtown skyrises.

Anyway, I made art for the show, come out and chill! I probably won't be there super early but I'll be there.

Like I mentioned in another thread concerning the murder of Meredith Emerson, Mellow and I've been talking about going up to Blood Mountain for a hike and we've decided on Saturday, February the 16th... sound good?

Mellow brought up the idea of going to Blood Mountain to bring some positivity, burn some sage, and cleanse the place out a little bit. I'd like to go so I can further restore my faith in humanity by getting together with my dirty-hippy brethren for a celebration of all that's beautiful in life. Heh! Radio Om TONIGHT (Jan 10)

Tonight my friends DJ Swivel and Sharaab are having the 10th anniversary of Radio Om. This used to be a regular event a few years ago and they're trying to revive it. Come out and support and we might get it as a monthly event!

The location is the elegant Bazaar on Peachtree next to the Fox theatre.
Time is 9ish.
Music is the best east-west fusion you'll find in Atlanta. I can't get enough of this stuff. Swivel and Sharaab will make you feel like Shiva himself is mixing on a soundboard next to you.

Please call 706-439-6038 if you have any information about missing University of Georgia graduate and fellow North Georgia hiker, 24 year old Meredith Hope Emerson.

Meredith is an athletic, experienced hiker and has a blue belt in martial arts. She is a white, blonde, woman, stands 5-foot-4, and weighs 120-pounds. She was last seen on BLOOD MOUNTAIN located in UNION COUNTY, Georgia on Tuesday, January 1st.

She left a note for her roommate explaining that she went hiking with her black Labrador retriever, Ella.
Meredith is originally from Colorado.

A PERSON OF INTEREST HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED

A 61 year-old white man, identified as Gary Michael Hilton (approximately 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with grey / white/ or silver hair and having either bad or no teeth) was last seen with Meredith along Freeman Trail on Blood Mountain inside VOGEL STATE PARK. He was wearing a yellow jacket with a large, older backpack and had a sheath of some sorts attached to one leg.

On multiple occasions, Hilton and Meredith were seen talking together by several eyewitnesses on Tuesday, January 1st and were also reported to have been letting their dogs play together. Hilton was seen with his own dog, believed to be a "reddish" colored Retriever, most likely going by the name of Dandy (or possibly Danny).

Hilton has two white, Chevrolet Astro minivans both registered in DEKALB COUNTY even though Hilton is not believed to live in DeKalb County according to Union Country Sheriff's investigator, Kimberly Verdone.

Police say Hilton was last spotted driving a white Chevy Astro minivan.

He is registered as owning TWO WHITE, CHEVY ASTRO MINIVANS. He has a 2001 model with the license plate number AFQ 1310 and a 1996 model with license plate number 76 APZ.

I'd love to do it, but I'd much rather go with someone whose name I actually know, even if I've never met you in person, and even if I am required to call you Santa.

For those not in the know:
Santacon (aka Santarchy) happens everywhere from San Fracisco to Atlanta to London. The idea is that everyone dresses up as Santa (unconventional Santa, elves, and reindeer are also accepted) and proceeds to pubcrawl through the city and make with general silliness.

Departure time for the Playa is coming up quickly and I'm guessing that you're as concerned as I am about how to get a pile of cr@p out and back. Dreaming about your beloved bicycle with the fuzzy seat? A shade structure to keep your tent from transforming into an oven?

We've got a solution! We are renting a massive 26 foot Penske truck and transporting whatever we can cram in out and back. So in the spirit of "The Green Man", it should save on fuel and waste (no more coolers in the dumpster), let us bring large art pieces, and allow us to bring out all of the luxuries that makes the desert enjoyable. Here is a chance to save some cash.

This email communicate the rules (which will be strict to protect the group and those fronting the $$), and describes the timeline. Please read this thoroughly and respond ASAP if you are interested in this group endeavor. The space and # of people will be limited -- so it is first come, first served. Feel free to pass this along to friendly burners. Let's make this an amazing burn!

Leave ATL - Aug 19 (Sun)
Arrive BRC - Aug 23 (Thur) -- Unload gear at Sparseland -- Esplanade & 2:30
Loading BRC - Sept 2-3 (Sun-Mon)
Leave BRC - Sept 4 (Tues)
Arrive ATL - Sept 9 (Sun)
Unload ATL- Sept 9 - 12 (Sun-Wed)

COST OPTIONS:

We are offering the following options with estimated costs. Depending on the # of people interested, these costs may fluctuate. We are defining a "Crate" as a container sized 30"x23"x21" (LxWxH) for a total of 8.5 cubic feet. And a "Block" is sized 61"x46"x42" (which is 5.1'x3.8'x3.5'), for 68 cubic feet. Please measure your gear. Don't worry too much if your gear does not exactly fit within these dimensions -- you are basically paying for volume.
a) One Bike -- $75 (each subsequent bike = $60)
b) One Crate -- $60 (each subsequent crate = $50)
c) One Crate and one Bike -- $125
d) One Block -- $275
e) One Block and one Bike -- $310

RULES:
==> You must give notice that you are "IN" by Friday, Aug 10th
==> You must provide full payment by Sunday, Aug 12th. I will tell you my pay pal acct address when you express interest. THIS IS NON REFUNDABLE (unless the truck is not rented).
==> You will have ONE day to load gear -- Sat, aug 18th.
==> All gear must be adequately packed and labeled -- this is up to the standards of the Cargo Nazis (Scott Dupree and myself) -- and generally requires that it be in a nice plastic crate or sturdy box, be padded, covered, etc. Imagine a bunch of junk bouncing 5K miles across the country and back. And consider that we will have to unpack the truck, so your gear may be sitting unprotected on the playa until you pick it up. BIKES MUST BE PACKAGED AS FOLLOWS: Pedals must be taken off and tied to the frame, and the handlebars must be loosened and turned 90 degrees. This is much more space efficient and keeps our costs down. The cargo nazis can assist if necessary.
==> We will not accept responsibility for the cost of damaged items. Sorry. We're going to make all efforts to pack carefully and ensure that someone else's gear does not crush yours, but Burningman contains an element of risk. Don't pack Grandma's china.
==> All gear must be loaded back into the truck on Sunday Sept 2nd or Monday Sept 3rd.
==> All gear must be unloaded and removed from the premises within 3 days after the truck returns to ATL.
==> If your cargo exceeds the volume that you have purchased, we will charge an extra $6 per CuFt.

Hittin' the road

Sorry I've not been more ummm... 'active' here as of late - but I've been doing a lot of things in my life and in my head and one cool thing I'm about to embark on is a trip across the country. well - at least UP country.

I'm headed out Monday afternoon to Lowell, Massachusetts but in a pseudo-interesting way and for a very cool reason.

I've already started a blog about it over on MySpace (click the link below) and I'll be updating it as I find WiFi access while on the road. I'll be putting photos and journal entries up as I am able.

So basically, I'll be out of town for the next 10 days or so but I'd like to get together and do something in the first week of August or so.

White Water Rafting Outing the first official weekend of Summer - Sunday June 3rd

Since a few of us did the MS Walk in Piedmont Park with Hoopla, it is time to get a little crazy and possibly intoxicated. What better way than to do it white Water River rafting on the Ocoee River for a half day (4 to 6 hours) with people who hardly know? The goal is to actually get the Active Atlantans to be active and get to know one another! The price per person is $43 for 1 -11 people, if we have more to commit, it will be slightly less. Anyone up for it on Sunday June 3rd? We will meet for breakfast in the am then car pool to the river launch site. Who is in?

OK. So this may be a little OTP for most of us. Heck who am I kidding....Buford is waay OTP. But a friend of mine has a band called the Fried Combo. A. Well...we blow glass. Off hand Art glass to be exact. We don't blow bongs, pipes or dildos so find another glass studio for that :-)

I just had to post a review. I decided to go to this show by myself last night while waiting for my man to get done with his evening obligations. He'd been hesitant go to with me on the basis that it was ok for kids (12 and up)--so I went by myself. And honestly, I think me as a 12-year-old would have been a bit disturbed. Something about a puppet with a mangled, oozing face may have screwed with me. Or maybe the disfigured cat strung up by a noose in the moonlight.

Anyway, my point is that this show blew my socks off. At first I was a little put-off by the fact that the puppeteers were more like visible actors playing dolls, but after a few minutes that fact just lent to the creepiness. Like deranged adults acting out their sadistic fantasies with little sunken-eyed dolls in a messy attic. It was beautiful. I was so impressed by the amount of creativity that went into this show. Go See It! It runs through Febuary 11th with shows Wednesday-Sunday. Well worth your $22.

Also, the Center for Puppetry Arts is having a couple other shows in March I want to go to.

Bob Margolin, who played guitar for many years in Muddy Waters' Blues Band, will be at Blind Willie's this Saturday (Jan 27). I love Blues, and will definitely be there. If you too are into the Blues, come look for me there Saturday night (822 N. Highland Ave.)

While it primarily is a place for Blues and Booze, they do offer a few really great sandwiches if you bring your hunger with you.

Dear, all….

I am just beginning to learn about Chaos Magick. From what I understand of it so far, it is about tapping into your subconscious to get what you want out of life, like self-therapy. I think we've all in some way practiced Chaos Magick with positive thinking. It's not as hokey as I thought it would be, but really practical knowledge based on psychology, science, paradigms, etc. It's chaos so there are no rules, as far as, how you want to approach it.

Skidaway Institute of Oceanography

I just read an article about the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography. UGA runs the institute on Skidaway island just south of Savannah. The SABOON project has some great underwater video.
