Acupunture school

topic posted Sat, May 6, 2006 - 11:37 PM by  Amondala
I wanted to start a Tribe for those of us who are "in it" and hopefully those who have gone before can comment too.

As a "first year" I realize that there is nothing like being in the thick of Acupuncture school. Longer than Medical School and we have to learn all that and so much more.

Difficult to wrap our heads around entirely new concepts and ways of healing. The constant tests, the pressure, the intensity....

I would love to hear people's comments about where they're at, their process, their study skills/habits, their likes and dislikes and anything else you'd like to share!

I hope this can be a good support group for us all !!!!

It's not easy, but it's what we all want to do and helping to heal others is an amazing thing to strive for :)

i'm excited to share and chat!
had to move to a new city to return to school and haven't met anyone yet. and with tcm it's a way of life, total shift of view on everything...my desire to converse about every aspect is intense.
here's a good place to do so...
    thanks kim.

Juli - You're welcome!! I know we are all super busy with classes and it's hard to make time. I appreciate all posts and shares here!! Did you move to that city to begin acupuncture school or are you a transfer student? It's hard to move to a new city and start over, I applaud your courage and would love to hear about your school and your experiences!!!

      :)

    HI.

I'm full of excitment. I'm about to embarque in Acupuncture school and i've never felt so ready. I am so greatful that my path has become clear. Its been a few years of intense debate. But deep down I knew it was about to submerge. And here I am living in Toronto and a month away from moving accross the country to Nelson BC to study Acupuncture. So this is the beginning of a new journey and I'm glad to have found this tribe!
    Thank you,
    Sophie

I graduated Five Branches about a decade ago. I went to OCOM for a yr. before transfering there.
I think of TCM as a life-long study so I joined this tribe. If I was going back to school I'd probably pick
Five Branches, ACTCM or maybe Tai Sophia (my emphasis in tx is diet and herbs).

I go to ACTCM and I really like it. I visited the Berkely and Oakland schools but found this one to be best for me as it's the strictest and I need that. I heard 5 Branches is awesome and Emporer's College in LA and there some really good schools in Vancouver Canada as well !!!

              Hi everybody,
I am enrolled in ACTCM to start in January. It seems like a really awesome school. Anyway, I am still trying to find housing in San Fran and I was wondering from ppl who go to ACTCM where would some accessible neighborhoods be to get to the school?
My friend found a place in Sunset, but that seems far, what do you think?
              Thanks!!!
              - Liz

                Liz,

Welcome! I look forward to seeing you at ACTCM !!!!!

Re: housing..... I commute from Sausalito which is farther than the Sunset district and I will not move back into the city, that's just personally. I lived there for 20 years. the neighborhoods closest to ACTCM are Portrero Hill (expensive though) and the Mission (cheap, noisy). However, people live everywhere. There are some good places near Hayes Valley. The Castro is my personal favorite neighborhood to live in, but it's expensive and hard to find places there - but can be done. The good thing about the Castro and the Mission is that they are sunny when the rest of SF is shrouded in fog. If you're bussing it, the Mission is probably your best bet. it is the closest and most reasonable.

                :)
