I am over it !!!! I hate school !!!! I hate studying !!!! I am beyond burnt out!!!! I wish I'd never done this and I only have 1 more of my 4 years to go. I'm disillusioned :(

I wish I had some advice, but I'm not even through my first year yet so I dont really know what to tell you. But you've made it this far. You must be a very strong, intelligent person to get through 3 years without quitting or flunking out. I truly hope that you can find something inspiring to get you through your final year. -

Sat, July 5, 2008 - 5:00 AMI want to update this post because I just started my official 3rd year (though it took me 4 to get here) and OMG it's WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cried on my way home from clinic Thursday night because I was so happy. This is what we kill ourselves for - this is it!!!!!!! Being an intern is incredible!!! The classes this quarter are fantastic!!! I'm finally taking electives and I LOVE dermatology!! I love my clinic supervisors and I love being able to do everything on my own. So yes, it was absolute HELL to get here, I won't lie, but THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL and it's shining bright!!!!!! So stick with it if you are in a slump like I was, it not only gets better - it actually gets GREAT :) -

Sat, July 19, 2008 - 11:26 PMMulberry - yes I know the boards are no fun (no tests are) but according to at least a dozen people who have taken them from my school I was told by them all (and these were people of different classes and years) that the boards were easy compared to 2nd yr comps at ACTCM. I don't test well anyway so I can't imagine thinking that but I have been told this and was again told the same thing by yet another girl last week! We are so heavily tested (even our grad exam is a killer) that apparently by the time people get to the boards they say they aren't stressed anymore. Again, I dunno if this will be the case with me but i can say that after all the practicals ACTCM puts us through I'm just thankful to never have to do another one (besides clean needle tech) again! And - I had to retake 2 of them but I passed all my comps, am an intern now and actually graduate in JUNE! WOOT!!! Again, the hell I've gone through to get here has all (finally) become worth it. Yet I still feel, knowing what I know now that if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't. Luckily I had no idea what I was getting myself into :) -

Tue, August 5, 2008 - 6:31 PMI do not have a paid job. I do volunteer work and have throughout but it's not weekly, more like a few hours a month. My first school year took me 2 years b/c of prereqs. I have been going f/t since then. I graduate in June - woot!
I don't envy those who work and go to school, I personally could not do that now. I'm sure I could have done it 20 years ago, which are the ages of the majority of students there - but I've found that my energy has waned along with my memory :)
The one crazy thing I have been doing this quarter is taking weekend classes along with my 20.5 units and 16 hours of make up clinic shifts. I have yet to have a weekend (or a day during the week) where I'm not in class. Next quarter I'm going to take it a lot easier! So far I've only signed up for 1 weekend class ;)
