I've read and heard so much about the debate on whether TCM is really "traditional."
From my understanding of chinese culture/history and the development of confucianism vs daoism, this article really seems to ring true.

Re: TCM Reconsidered (An Article)
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 10:01 AMthank you for posting this donna! i also hear so many debates in school about how this teacher is more traditional or that teacher is more traditional -- I recently went to an awesome lecture given by Dr. Wang Ju Yi from Beijing who teaches channel palpation which he says was written about in the Nei Jing but completely overlooked - I wonder how many other techniques are overlooked! Channel palpation seems very important!!! -

Mon, July 30, 2007 - 12:33 AMFrom what I know, channel palpation is very important in Japanese meridian therapy. Very often, the location that shows a more obvious sign of defic./excess is used instead of the textbook location.

Re: TCM Reconsidered (An Article)
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 4:00 PMI wanted to re-state my favorite part of this piece:
"As my teacher Li Wei always said to me as a student, it is *the way of thinking* that is revealed in the classical formularies that is their greatest value, more-so than the formulas themselves. A formula is an idea developed from experience, never used in exactly the same way. It should be such ideas that guide us in practice; one should avoid rigid use of both words and herbs."
The way is wild and freshly filled with untold mystery, beauty, and joyous awakening at every step.
Blessings.
