Attention Span

This year I have been told by two doctors that I more than likely have Fibromyalgia. There is a little problem that goes along with the disease that involves confusion, forgetfulness and short attention span, known as "Fibro Fog". So add that to the life-long overstimulated "scatterbrained fool" problem, and I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Do I turn right?
Do I turn left?
Do I search high?
Do I search low?
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
What's for lunch? I'd rather have chicken.

But you know what, I'm working on it. I'm not going to make too many excuses for myself. These days I am struggling harder than ever to get focused and stay on task with anything I take on. What would be simple simon for most folks can seem overwhelming to me, but on days I don't have much pain, I get to work. I look around this place, this home sweet cluttered home, and say to myself, "Baby steps." What About Bob, ha, I loved that movie.

Anyway, I'm learning that some things are not impossible, especially with reminder notes. My mother had Alzheimers, and I'm not as crazy as that yet, so there is hope.

Iggi sweet sugar pop, wow. A dx cocktail. It's said that glucosamine is good for fibro.
That thing doesn't seem to have side effects and might be something you can do
      to ease the symptoms.

You sound good, you know you've got a good mind. Overcompensation will probably
be your game for awhile until you get used to overcompensation and then it won't be such
a gap between what you need to do to stay on track and all the others around you.

In fact, now that i'm in my 50s, i see that everyone who went from point A to B to C to D in 9 seconds
without thinking and now find themselves lost after the first thought, have nothing on me.
When they forget, they are in shock. I'm used to it. No biggie. That's why I've got notes glued
to at least 2 locations and one on the computer for when i lose theother 2 notes.

In other words, overcompensation really helps in life. It's a lifeskill everyone should learn.
It's harder to learn when old age fog sets in.

best of everything to you. You sound strong and ready.

No, I don't take A.D.D. meds. I've never seen a doc or psychologist about it; for myself, anyway. I had 2 children with the obvious problems. I was just always told that I had the "creative temperament" typical to artists, haha. Never mind that I threw myself into everything I loved and would stay up all night doing it, for years and years and years... I just never considered the A.D.D. for myself, seriously, until this past year. I was going to go see a psychologist but I got sidetracked by other medical problems. I am uninsured/ self-pay so I had to prioritize.

Judih, thanks for the support and reminding me that it's OK to overcompensate. [~whew~] I need to stop worrying about being perfect. Or normal. We've all got our crosses to bear, don't we.
