Yet another loser from Chris and Eric -- Awesome

Someboby tell me how these two guys keep getting a new show. Tom Goes to the Mayor was bad enough, but this new awesome show dug new ground in bad with the same jokes. I would say last night's show was Strike Two for these guys.
Help me out here.

Nowhere in this thread can I find the name of the show you're talking about. What's it called?

--Oh, *that* turkey. Yeah, never bothered after I saw the teaser. Looks like they've hit rock bottom; I wonder, with all the kewl stuff that's come out of other sources, other times, if they maybe don't spend a whole lot of effort on research. Or maybe they have a bad case of 'not invented here' syndrome...

Well, no one else on the planet would admit this, but I think its funny as hell. Of course, im not much for fitting in with other peoples ideas. I figure if the majority of people dont like them, they must be doing something right. (Let the lynch mob commence...)

Parts of the episode this past Sunday were amusing, but for the most part all I could think was "Well there's 15 minutes I'll never get back...."

Tim Heidecker isnt gay. Bob Odenkirk isnt gay. I for one find thier approach refreshing. Im so tired of the same old shit. Speaking of shit on sundays episode thiers a sketch about a boy who sits down to pee, and its basically a rap. I saw it on adultswim.com and I almost died laughing. For those out there who DO like "chris" (tim) and eric. DOO DAH DOO DOO!

liking them simply because a large number of people hate them isn't necessarily a stirring endorsement, it just means you enjoy being contrary.

Sure enough Tim and Eric aren't gay, but one of the recurring themes of TGTTM was a thinly veiled and poorly handled combination of gay subtext and emasculation themes that could have been funnier if handled by people who didn't seem to be constantly patting themselves on the back for their own perceived cleverness.

I remember thinking that TGTTM looked interesting from the early preview teasers that [AS] ran and then being alternately annoyed, bored and vaguely insulted by it. I remember reading a lot of condescending defenses (if i don't like it i'm either somehow not quite smart enough or hip enough to "get it") of the show by people who seem intelligent enough and sure enough the same is true for Tim and Eric's Awful Show (Shite Job!) - although this time, forewarned of their awkward and stilted brand of ironic and post-modern anti-humor, i was compelled by a measure of curiosity and masochism to check it out. It was every bit as lame, dorky and self-satisfied as i expected it to be, yet oddly, the only thing i though was funny about it was the thought that anyone might actually find it funny

I've noticed, though, that most of the same people who can't stop fawning over this show are the same people who had an inexhaustible supply of praise for Napoleon Dynamite...as for me, the "sitting down to pee" sketch was just so much lame-ass visual roadkill and that was ostensibly the high point of the show
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Nope. Your psycho babble is pretty much cancelled out there. I dont like Napoleon Dynamite at all. And I dont just like them because no one else does. Actually, they have so many fans their tour is selling out around the country. I find it so weird that not only do people criticise fans of T and E, they actually HATE them! Andy Kaufman fans got the same trouble when he was alive. People dislike what they dont understand.

I can see comparisons between Sascha Baron Cohen and Andy Kaufman, but there is no way Tim and Eric merit that sort of comparison.

Cohen and Kaufman share a thread of confrontational satire, Tim and Eric are just obscure and awkward for the sake of being obscure and awkward

and seriously, what is there to understand? score another one in the category of "condescending defenses of T & E" which is why i generally don't like their fans because they continually imply that non-fans are somehow "missing" something instead of merely allowing those of us in that non-fan category to chalk it up to a matter of divergent tastes.

it's like someone calling me ignorant and uncultured because i prefer sashimi or ceviche over caviar
                      • so, having said all of that;

gauche and oblivious bastard that i am, i will drag my knuckles off of this thread and comment no further on the subject
                        • And I shall do the same.
                          • I've been taping all of these shows on VHS. sometimes late on sundays i'm nodding off
and can't fully appreciate these until later. also have all Soul and the Mole Men.
Both of these shows were made to be bad. that's why I like them.
Tune into "That 70s Show" for your mainstream shit folks.
                            • --"Tune into "That 70s Show" for your mainstream shit folks."

and there it is to prove my point, the condescending suggestion that somehow, those of us who fail to find The Funny in Tim & Eric's televisionary abortion are either too banal, pedestrian or just plain dumb to "get it"

and the comparison between T & E and Saul of the Mole Men is a serious case of an wildly inaccurate, apples-to-oranges comparison. I don't always find "saul" funny, but i understand it as a really bent spoof of the old Krofft shows and it does have it's moments, where T & E, on the other hand, just seem to be going out of their way to create some bizarrely ironic anti-humor, where the whole point seems to create more and more obscure and totally wanky sketches.

I've asked this before of T&E and of TGTTM, but am i supposed to be laughing at how awkward and unfunny the sketches are? is that where the joke actually resides? I've tried over and over to figure out where why and how me and my fellow non-T&E fans come up short with this stuff, i want to understand it, but i still can't put it together

"Here She Comes" - repeatedly whispering the words "here she comes" while a parade of various confused and uncomfortable looking old ladies with bad make-up jobs is paraded to the front of a room... yeah, comedy fucking gold right there

                              "Limp-lip" - WTF?

                              "Salame" - huh?

I will admit i did think that there was something vaguely appropriate about Heidecker being shat forth by a cat, but it was more of an editorial moment than an appreciation of the "humor"

Uncle Muscles Hour - Heidecker in bad make up making constipated faces and mumbling to bad Casio keyboard noodling while Wareheim dances like a doofus in a series of stupid costumes....positively side splitting, so bloody hilarious i fell out of my chair ... (...i lie)

Hey! as someone fiercely gay and fabulous I take extreme exception that this pile of steaming crap is being called GAY. If anything, it's an example of how talentless, pedestrian, and un-funny two het guys can be.

      The show is fucking STRAIGHT.

I'm wondering why this show is still around, and now, how the *hell* they managed to get Jeff Goldblum. Have they gotten any other big names? Is one of these guys married to a big movie studio exec or something?? Their ratings have got to be in the tank.
