I must agree with you here.
I have issue with those that encourage individuals to live from "ebo to ebo" and keep devotees dependent upon the diviners. There are issues in the lives of the person that must be addressed. There are reasons their lives may be out of whack and that is because they are out of alignment with their own destinies.
A Priest does a great disservice to say, "come get your ebo before the end of the year",when there are more pressing needs for the devotee. What is the great hurry any way for the end of the european calendar year anyway? Especially, as you say when there are ancestral issues that must be dealt with first and foremost. Or more importantly when the Ori is out of alignment and there is no other way to work it than to get it back in sync with iponri and ori innu. Living from ebo to ebo just does not work for some when what is needed is grounding and a place to call a "spiritual home" where the ebo is the first step of many to bring everything into alignment and a spiritual family who will teach the devotee how to work what they have been given. Someone who will teach them how to go to their ancestors to lead and guide them and to propitiate Ori who is above all else.
The truth of the matter is that Ori will lead the devotee to whatever it is that they have need of no matter what time of the year it is. The cleansings at the feet of Orisa is what is needed, and I agree that Ifa must be consulted in what the destiny of a person is. And Egun must be supportive of what a person does. However if Ori is not in agreement with any of it, then it all fails.
The entire picture must be looked at by a competent diviner prior to paying any monies to anyone.
I'm with you and Iya Blair, and Yeye on this.
Much respect to you all.
