18+?

So what are your thoughts about making the club 18+ for future events?
Dark Sparkle's crowd was always more in the 21 and up vein, but now that Margo and I are also doing Death Guild weekly we have more visibility to those under 21. So what are the pro's and cons? Do you have friends that want to make it out but can't? Think it would be worth the extra security? I can't really think of any other clubs on a Saturday that can give those under 21 a place to dance, hang out and have fun in the city. You? Any comments are appreciated. We're just beginning to think about it.
Thanks!

As a prior 18+ person, I think making an event 18+ is great, both for your event and the attendees. There's not much else to do on a Saturday night if you're not 21, the 18+ crowd seems to stick around a club even as they hit 21+ (get 'em while they're young! look at Death Guild, Popscene), and I think it adds a friendly, all-inclusive feeling to the event. Any amount of 'damn younguns' angst is misplaced, I think, especially since the event has a more mature feel anyway. Why, shouldn't the thought of an 18 year old being exposed to "I Travel" (I saw the set list from the last event - awesome!) be enough to warm any bitter heart? I'm not familiar with the cost/difficulty of making it 18+ as far as security/venues/etc., but I'd give it a hearty thumbs-up... make those 'kids' feel welcome!

There was some feedback that we received in the past indicating that some people over 21 don't like having the 18+ crowd around. Personally, I don't feel this way. In a club like Death Guild you find that all ages can co-exist, enjoy themselves and feed off of each others energy. One of the main cons is the expense of added security. Someone has to be around to make sure that those under age aren't drinking, or it could be a huge problem for the venue. We're certainly intrigued by the idea of 18+, but also care about what the people who go to or are interested in going to the club think as well. Thanks for your responses so far!
