Hi in my Vedic chart Dhumavati is my ruling goddess. I know she is one of the Ten Mahavidya's and some further info. Yet very little in depth is available. I would love to hear from this tribe on the Goddess and her worship here. Thank you!

Dark shadow and shaking bed

I get up to get some water in the middle of the night. My wife also comes out to get some water. I was sleeping with my 3yo and she was sleeping with our 6mo. She says that she woke up, felt a cool breeze waft over her and there was this cloud over her and the baby, a dark black cloud that she felt was demonic and was just laughing at her. And that she felt she couldnt talk. She prayed and it went away. So I got some water, sprinkled with mantra, did arati to devi and siddhas and everyone individualy asking for clearance and protection, applied bhasma to everyone and lit dhoop, and said some prayers such as Shiva raksha stotram and devi kavacha. Things were fine for the rest of the night. I did same as a preventative measure the next night and everything was fine. I did nothing the next, but the night after that, I sat down to meditate a little before sleep (not sure how much was meditation and how much was sleep). I did feel a cool draft go over my feet. At first I didnt even care to look, but i remembered my wife and children, so I looked, but saw nothing and didnt feel anything negative. but my wife woke me up in the middle of the night to say the baby wasnt sleeping well, which happens alot anyway at his age, and that she started having nightmares again. she said the bed was shaking (something i have also experienced). So I put this before you good people for comments/knowledge/expreince/advise? Thanks to all in advance/

Fear or energy?

Ive been noticing, more and more during meditation, that I've been getting these feelings like fear. Except it isn't fear, I'm not afraid, but my body seems to go into the process of fear, like goosebumps on my arms. What is this? Ive noticed that this has been happening randomly at other times, like during school or just walking somewhere, I'll feel it, when I breathe in. But it always happens during meditation. I've searched for some answers on the net, and all I've found was that it could possibly be me sensing spirits around me, but the thing is, I'm not mentally afraid, its just my body. Any thoughts?

Meditation experience

The other night I was meditating and instead of the usual dark room, I closed my curtains and shut off my computer lights as well, also putting a shirt in the crack under my door. Not completely dark, but really close to it. I could sit in one spot and depending on where it was I could close my eyes and open them and not know the difference.

I was doing my usual meditation, sitting cross legged, back straight, looking into the dark trying to clear my mind. I usually focus inside, but after a while of my normal meditation I began to physically look outward into the darkness. I felt the need to breathe in and out, didn't think this was out of the ordinary since during meditation my breathing becomes very low. I started to breathe in and out of my nose. The keywords became, in and out, I repeated them in my mind. I started to feel a little fear as I was breathing, the light specks that you always see in your eyes became clustered like when you rub your eyes hard and open them. After a couple breaths these cleared away and I saw a few white specks in front of my, kind of like looking into the sky at night. Then I stopped the breathing (not entirely, I returned to my normal breathing). The I felt like everything in front of me was in a circle. But within that circle was, kind of another world, one god (if there is any) could see into. It was like I was in a vacuum. I could hear and was still away of the outside world, but I felt like it couldn't possibly affect me in any way. My body kind of melted away, I was still away of it but it's importance wasn't apparent. I visualized the world and some other things.

I stopped because my leg was feeling numb due to my posture. I didn't have to stop but I felt like I should. What felt like a little numbness was half my leg being almost completely numb. Many people try to say during meditation to visualize the openness of the darkness within and such, but only until now did I really see how far that can reach.

Was this a trance? Questions? Comments? Similar experiences? Any experiences during meditation you'd like to share?

Find out how to use your voice to save your life

What if you had a device that would reliably produce peace of mind, elevate your mood, and support your growth into who you most wish to be?
Good news: you have just such a device. It's your voice!
The ancients understood that our voice is the steering wheel of our thoughts and feelings. When you focus your attention on the sound of your own voice while repeating time-tested mantras ("mind-protectors"), you lead your mind and heart in an Ultimately True, Beautiful, and Healthful direction. And because we all live in the atmosphere of our thoughts, your quality of life will be dramatically improved.
Kailash (Kurt Bruder, Ph.D., M.Ed.) provides you with the tools you need to take up or deepen a life-saving practice of devotional chanting in his groundbreaking book & CD set, Following Sound into Silence: Chanting Your Way Beyond Ego into Bliss (Hay House).

Starting Kali worship, Bhairava worship, etc.

Ive been doing research on Hinduism and the aghoris for about a year now. But I'm lost. I feel a definite connection especially with Kali. I'm lost though. I feel that Aghora is right for me, I hate western occultism, where people evoke demons to get what they want. Why would they do that, you're doing giving them anything in return. I believe to get closer to the gods, you must prove yourself, and in that process you also become strong and fearless, this isn't any more apparent than within the Aghora sect.

I was just wondering, how can I get started? I live in America and I'm 17. I would go to India, but Ive only just begun to learn Hindi (I mean really just begun, i've only started recognizing the characters, I have a long way to go) and my place in society doesn't allow me to simply go off and do what I want.

So please, help me. I live in a wooded area, so fires and privacy are abundant. I could walk outside naked around the entire property and the only thing that would happen is I get numb feet and shrinkage :) (new england).

Ive read Aghora by svoboda and i have the other two books and am in the process of reading those. I was just interested in finding out sadhanas, pujas, mantras (with specific pronunciation), yantras, etc....any information is appreciated. I only joined recently and ive been reading all the topics, this is a great group, hope to enjoy being part of it.

Dear Friends, can you help me?

I am Oliver Boldizar from Slovakia, grown up in Canada. My first Guru is the legendary yogi of Tibet, H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, and his primary lineage holder, Lama Padma Drimed Norbu. I have been practicing in the Chagdud Gonpa tradition for the last seven years, during which time I taxed my brain working as a translator, translating Tibetan texts into English, for about six years. Getting frustrated with the intellectual speculation of my job as a translator and practices without any accomplishment all these years, I set out in search of a siddha tradition, and ended up in a yogic asylum at the base of the Himalayas of north-eastern India. Though I am humble outside to my new master, I have huge inner agitations against him, being highly confusing in maddening mad behaviours. He is a renowned scholar among academicians of Vajrayana, who extends his friendly charming ways to the outer world while torturing every member of his asylum-ashram by rejecting them every moment, every now and then telling all of us, his so-called disciples, to get out from the ashram. I am not sure what type of cult this is. Now I am working for him as a scribe. I don’t understand most of his dictations, but he asks me to correct them as a punishment for my karma of an intellectual speculator; and if I am not correct in my understanding of what he dictated when he later questions my understanding, he beats me severely and threatens to kick me out. My most recent great problem, which I am unable to solve, is that he, while being furious about my behaviour, which was IMHO by no means wrong, ordered me to answer this question:

What is the difference between the lineage holders of the oral traditions, and the heretics, those who follow hearsay?

He also remarked that one who does not know the essential answer should not enter an Aghori’s inner circle.
If I can’t answer this within seven days, I have to leave the ashram; I will be freed from this maddening cult, but I don’t want to leave this asylum. Can you people please help me answer this question? I am confused on the point that in both these traditions, the oral lineage holders and the heretics, the teachings pass down from mouth to ear!

In desperation,
Padma Namgyal
a.k.a. Oliver Boldizar

Meat and Alcohol in relation to devotees of deities with a tamas nature.

Let me start out by saying I do not want to start up a thread that is a fiery debate between those who hold orthodox vedic views on meat and alcohol and those who have transcended orthodoxes and taboos.

I have heard it mentioned many times that if you are a devotee of Mother Kali or Mother Durga it is acceptable either on ritual occasion, through prasadam or at any time to eat meat and drink wine. Mother Kali and Mother Durga both have transcended this taboo and are often said to be fond of offerings of flesh, blood, wine and alcoholic spirits... There are also other Goddesses and deities who are fond of other taboo offerings. For example Mother Mathangi is known for favoring offerings of leftover food, menstrual blood, and other taboo substances from devotees in a state of pollution.

i'd like to discuss the transcendent nature of Mother Kali and other deities who are not bound by strict morally structured worship and how that relates to those of us who are devoted to them. It is well know that Maa Kali will start a funeral pyre for your karmas. Mother Kali also wears the belt of severed arms which indicates her ability to sever right handed AND left handed karmas. Whether your karmas are benign or not, she has the ability to sever you from your karmas and your ability to create more. I have heard it explained in many similar fashions that a devotee of Kali or other such Goddesses does not have the same karmic ties to the world if he or she is successful in their devotion. Non-attachment is one thing amongst many that Kali teaches as well, but also to embrace all levels of existence and the reality behind each level of existence. Such deities also encourages destructive behaviors and is known for living in the cremation grounds, battle grounds, desolate places, and other destructive places on the edge of society where the taboos of society do not exist. There is also a form of Kali who was worshipped by a band of thieves who lived in the forest and were said to offer humans to her. Stealing is also not morally correct, but that does not apply to a person who is without societal shame.

I'd also like to discuss that fact that it is said to be successful in many tantric sadhanas, one will absorb the shakti and essence of the targeted deity

There are also practices that offerings made mentally and physically to the power of the deity within you can sometimes take the form of feeding one's self physically to feed the deity inside so to speak through the fire of digestion and devotion both. It is well known in many cultures that a deity and/or spirit entity can consume energy through favored offerings through a favored devotee who has absorbed the energy of the deity or has become possessed by the entity or deity.

I am not here to discuss the phenomena of possession or the process of absorbing a deity, per se. What I would like to discuss in a suitable fashion is the consuming of taboo substances when one is a devotee of a deity who is fond of them. Of course when you offer a physical substance to a deity that is edible or drinkable then one will take a bit as prasadam. I feel that taking prasadam is also part of the offering in that not only are you absorbing the merciful shakti given by the deity but it also feeds and empowers that deity that is more powerfully present within our own selves.

In many true Kali temples there is blood, meat, wine, and cigarette smoke all in abundance to create the atmosphere fit for such a Mother who is fond of destructive behavior and breaking taboos.

Do you think that these taboos that she likes to break should be a model for her devotees who can often be stuck in such taboos? Do you ever get the desire to offer or consume taboo substances? Is it part of a regular sadhana for you to do so literally or metaphorically? Has any of the socially or morally destructive tendencies of your deity rubbed off on you?

A lot of people who practice benign methods of tantra shun such activity. They often share the view that such physical consuming of meat and wine is impure with their brothers and sisters who practice the orthodox Vedic Dharma. And while I see the wisdom in this, I also see the wisdom in PHYSICALLY facing taboos like wine and meat in order to break them away. If you are meant to do so. Mother Kali and other wild natures of similar tantric deities shows that she is one to experience all flavors of life, especially the dark and taboo flavors of flesh, blood, and wine. How does that apply to us as devotees who are following these deities as guides, or raising the power the represent within ourselves?

I see the metaphorical values, but since I have a body, a mind, and a spirit, I can see how this can translate to all three levels. A lot of times the physical side of nature is neglected. We are still embodied beings, and if we live life thinking "all is a metaphor" and that we should shun taboos, what benefit can be derived when facing one's fears and taboos on a physical level? I think that a true spiritual process can be found on all levels of the body. It is true that one passes physical limitations, but how can that be possible without working on a physical and literal level in the beginning stages? Just like any external worship and ritual that helps our body also be part of the process, as well as the mind and spirit and other subtle levels. There are many spiritual sciences that include physical practice, such as certain asanas and gestures, or the Aghor tradition of eating certain types of meat and foul substances to overcome disgust, etc. So why should certain practices that have a face value neglect that face value and physical aspect? I am one to believe that it applies to all levels. The face value, and the inner secret values on subtle levels.

I am not one to neglect my body in the transformation process. And as I include it along with my mind and spirit, I see the changes on all three levels.

There was a previous thread concerning meat and alcohol, but it turned into a big pissing match about the guru principle, and orthodox views vs. Unorthodox, how things like meat and alcohol are metaphors, etc. I am asking as the starter of this thread, let's not let this become a discussion of morals on the Aghora tribe... I don't personally care for much moral values, they are only limitations and rules to be broken, and I don't want to discuss them. I have already heard and read enough of orthodox morals to not only know them thoroughly but to be sick of them as well. After all has anyone ever met someone practicing Aghora who condones following moral and social structure?

YOGA

a small list of well-known (to many ) facts about Yoga:

1.) Yoga means Union, it is the spiritual science of the soul, it has nothing to do with massages, theories, reiki, witchcraft, or philosophy.
2.) Yoga originated in Ancient INDIA.
3.) Gautam Buddha, formerly known as Prince Gautam Siddharth, like Yoga, is also INDIAN in origin. He fully-realized Total Enlightenment through the Immortal science of Yoga.
4.) The Shaolin Temple of Ancient southern China, where Kung-fu, and therefore ALL East-Asian martial arts, originated, was founded by an Indian Brahmin from south India named Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma taught the Chinese monks meditation, martial arts, and many other Spiritual Sciences. All these martial arts have Raja Yoga as their foundation. Bodhidharma is also a direct disciple of Gautam Buddha.
5.) Bodhidharma spread the spirituality, lifestyle, and Enlightenment of Ancient India throughout most of Asia.
6.) Martial Arts also originated in India, one such commonly known one is called "Kalaripayattu."
It is all based on the eternal science of Yoga.
7.) From India, the science of Yoga took over the world, yet very few actually know what true Yoga is.
8.)Yoga's aim is to unite ("Yoga" = "Union") the person's individual, localized (in space and time) consciousness with the Supreme Non-dual Consciousness that animates and permeates all Existence yet is simultaneously Beyond ALL.

Aghora and vamamarga are synonyms

'Left hand' . A variety of explanations are given as a explanation but what in fact is this vamamarga is , as i think, a way back towards nature ( i.e gross).
The tamas ( Principle of inertia_ as ramakrishna defined the term) ,as i percieve, is the gross prakriti.
The rajas is lighter than tamas. ( the principle of activity).
The sattva ( the principle of goodness) is the lightest of all.
In fact the normal vidhya is of renunciation ( khadi vidhya..Ka ai ee l hreem .....), the process is like getting beyond these three modes of nature.
But as the tantra( web) means that there is nothing beyond these three modes of nature, all are thou that exists. Trying to get beyond nature is like destroying the self.
When a onion is peeled of layer after layer, in search of source of smell, we reach the empty inside. That means the smell was one with the onion. So, after realizing this fact the yogi turns back towards nature .......And this is called ' Vama marga'.

I tried my best, if im getting the concept wrong please discuss.

THE THREE IMPORTANT SIDDHIS OF LORD KRISHNA

Hello everyone. In this post, I'm posting THE THREE IMPORTANT SIDDHIS OF LORD KRISHNA. They are KARTUM, AKARTUM, ANYATHAKARTUM.

Kartum: that which is difficult to do but is doable, which refers to Krishna's mastery over the mundane world.
Akartum: that which is impossible for ordinary beings, which refers to Hi ascendancy in the spiritual world.
Anyathakartum: that which, being beyond both the spiritual and the mundane, is inconceivable to humans. Anyathakartum refers to the astral world, the world of the mind, of subjective reality. These three siddhis gave Lord Krishna unlimited power in al three realms: mundane, spiritual and astral. Prakriti Siddhi is in the realm of Anyathakartum, that which is not only impossible but also unimaginable. Prakriti Siddhi is the ability to change the innate nature of any part of the Universal Prakriti, which means the ability to alter the consciousness of any being in the universe.

GREATNESS OF MOTHER EARTH

Hello friends, I'm writing this passage from the book "AGHORA III : THE LAW OF KARMA". This passage tells us about MOTHER EARTH. It is told by Aghori Vimalananda to his disciple Robert.E.Svoboda. He tells about MOTHER EARTH as "How can human beings be so blind as to fail to offer the greatest respect and love for Ma, for our MOTHER EARTH? We spill urine, feces and toxic wastes onto Her, we walk on her and spit on her, but She never objects. We tear her skin and extract treasures like gold, silver, and precious stones from Her, and She gives them freely. Even though we pump Her own life's blood up from the depths of Her body She still supports us. And when we die She welcomes us into Her lap. ONly Ma has such magnanimity. But even She cannot save us from the Law of Karma, because She looks on all her children - every mineral, plant and animal - with an equal eye. What we do to Her children we have to pay for. "

Mercury is very dangerous

Use of mercury is mentioned in One of the Aghora books.I think its the first one.Its very dangerous so i wanted to make sure everyone knows this. Some of the stories in the book are folklore and not meant to be taken literally
Whatsthe Big Deal?
Coughing Swelling Irritability
Shortness of Breath
Flushing Shyness
Chest Pain Kidney problems Itching
Vision Problems Loose teeth Joint pains
Erratic Behavior* Hearing Problems Weekness
Vomiting Nausea Rashes
Diarrhea Impaired Judgement Mouth sores
Fever Memory loss Increased heart rate
Tremors Increased blood pressure Sleeplessness
Mercury is highly toxic. Mercury accumulates in body tissues and organs and causes adverse health problems. It enters the body through inhalation of mercury vapors or by skin absorption when handling the substance. Depending on the level and frequency of exposure to elemental mercury, it may take long periods of time ranging from months to years to rid the body of it. This is an ever-evolving threat given the ways that magico-religious mercury is used. No correlation has been made yet between mercury poisoning and religious practices, and once individuals experience mercury exposure, their symptoms, upon fist examination, are most often attributed to other maladies.

Mercury poses extreme health hazards to young children who spend a considerable amount of time crawling on the floor. Sprinkling mercury on the floor and mixing it with soapy solutions to wash the floor liberate mercury vapor into the room air. This exposes the inhabitants to elevated levels of mercury vapor. This affects not only the current inhabitants, but any future inhabitants who will live in that particular dwelling because mercury is highly absorptive and remains in the cracks of High level mercury exposure can result in severe neurological damage and alter the functions of the nervous system. Human lungs readily absorb 75-85% of inhaled elemental mercury vapor, allowing it to diffuse across the alveolar membranes and attack red blood cells and the central nervous system. High temperatures play a crucial role in mercury vaporization. The boiling point of liquid mercury is 356.9*C, so when mercury is burned in a candle, whose flame is hotter than 500*C, harmful mercury vapors fill the room and seep into peoples' lungs.

Fetuses, infants, and small children appear to be particularly at risk. A fetus's exposure to mercury may not be apparent at birth but may reveal themselves in later childhood as learning diabilities, deficits in language, cognitive, and motor skill development. Since mercury poisoning can also be spread through breast milk, breast-fed infants may be at a higher risk.

Hi again everyone.. im posting this so i can get your views on intoxicants, im not sure how many of you are already on a left hand path.. i would say i am not, but i do have leanings... once after a very heavy salvia divinorum experience i could see prana everywhere, so since then i have been vegan, my question is .... i know the left hand path is fraught with danger, its too easy to fall into that comfort blanket of being intoxicated and thus thinking your on the path so to speak....does it take a certain amount of time or a certain experience till you can " take the plunge" so to speak and partake in intoxicants, do you wait for a guru to guide you? or dive in yourself? i have a hard time envisioning myself eating meat again, unless its human flesh . i have drank in the past though and for some reason that seems less of a "headfirst"...what are your experiences with left hand and intoxicants? do you wait for guidance or what do you wait for ????( if anything) once again all thoughts appreciated
A blessed Spring time Vasantha Navarathri.

It is now the Ashtami of Vasantha Navarathri... Or the eighth day of the nine night celebration of Mother Durga and all her manifestations. Spring time is a very auspicious time for many things. With Holi, you can use this time to clean out your mind, body, and house. Through the sacred vratham of fruit and milk for 9 days, the body is thoroughly cleansed in the digestive areas and other areas of impurities. By making the house spotless and organized every day before night fall so that Mother can come to her devotee in a clean house. Through worship and prayer of Maa you cleanse the mind and karmas. When you meditate Maa, and when you pray Maa, as a baby child crying for her mother she comes to you like came to Shiva when she was dancing the Universe to dust with her lotus feet. When you pray Maa, and take her sacre vratham during the three auspicious occasions for Navarathri throughout the year, one cleanses the body, the house, the mind, and destroys all kinds of Karma loads. Even if one celebrates three days out of the nine, one for Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Sarasvathi one can obtain benefit. For the ardent devotee who cries out with tears for Maa, she will come. For those who really stick to the vratham and perform pujas mentally and physically for Maa, so many auspicious things happen! It is the best time of year to draw close to god. These nine days are filled with Shakti and the blessedness of Maa Jagadambe. If one takes the Navarathri Sadhana of Nava Durga, or nine forms, one for each day, with proper guidance, and whoever chants the ancient shlokas and mantras of Maa during this occasion, one will most likely attain liberation and Siddhi without any sort of hinderance. Everyone who prays to Maa during this time will be victorious with her in the battle against your asuric tendencies that may hinder you.

There is no other relationship better in any world than the relationship has with mother. Whether it is your physical mother, or Mother Jagadambae... When you pray to God as Maa, she will take compassion and pity for a helpless child like any good woman with mothering instincts. She will take you into her beautiful arms and auspicious lap and show you everything you need to know.

And pay special attention to any women, and especially little girls who may come to you during this time. Whether it's a small girl or withered elderly woman, you never know when Maa comes in disguise to surprise her devotees! She is so beautiful and so playful, and so very auspicious. You can be sure that if you pray Maa, you will succeed in life.

So a very happy and blessed Navarathri to all who love Maa. Jai Jagad Ambae Maa, Jai Ambae Bhavani, Jai Lalitha Ambikae. Always victory to the mother who is the cosmic empress of the three worlds.

so I was dreaming last night of just arriving in India and going straight to the ghats where i was digging up skeletal pieces from the dirt. Finding different parts and then wandering off to find a place to meditate and possibly find someone who could show me how to eat flesh. Very nice dream I'll tell ya. I felt very comfortable there.

Best wishes and blessings on the day of Mahashivaratri —

As Pashupati, The Shepherd,
He tames the animal mind
Into disciplines of righteousness
Turning fights into sports.

As Virupaksha, The Opposite Observer,
He pulls the human mind away
From flowing into desires
Turning the downstream up.

As Tattpurusha, The Suchness Holder,
He teaches the divine mind
All-Knowledge to enlightenment
Turning ignorance into quest for Truth.

As Aghora, The One Beyond Illusion,
He dissolves the realised mind
Into the depth of Nothingness
Turning specialities into indifference.

As Sadyajata, The Newborn,
He plays the Nirvana Mind
In the celebration of Life
Turning all identities into Non-Identity.

The five-headed Compassionate Wisdom
Dissolves the five elements into The Void,
Alert in changefulness, aware in Oneness,
The Lord Master shows the way.

In the dance of changefulness
He maintains the tranquil bliss
Forgets all sins in forgiveness
Pulling hostiles into friendship.

Shiva The Spirit of Existence
Dances the dance of Bliss
Celebrating the night of Voidness
Let all reside in peace.

Kapala information

Could people post whatever information about the use of the kapala that they find interesting or useful? I'll start out by posting this.
The Kapala practice and its function in Tibetan rituals.

Having chosen the right skull, it is important to handle it with due care and circumstances. The "Jewel-bowl" (rin chen thod pa) should never be left empty or lying upside down, otherwise the beneficent qualities of the skull will be useless for the bearer.

Should the practitioner have been lucky enough to find a skull still attached to a corpse before the rig pa, or consciousness, has left the body, he should wrap it immediately into a piece of human skin. For the cleansing process the head may be buried in mud or clay, put into hot springs for three days - according to a modern method - boiled in hot water with plenty of soda. When the skull is such freed from all flesh, the top of the cranium is cut off with a bone saw above the sutura squamosa. After washing it in alcohol, the skull cup should be polished and anointed with a fragrant essence such as saffron. It is now ready for ritualistic use. Silver inlay, lid and pedestal made of precious metals which decorate many items in museums and art collections are not specifically mentioned in the texts. Such appliances made by silversmiths were originally reserved for very rare one-piece skulls and only became fashionable in the seventeenth century parallel to the expansion of monastic power in Tibet.

More important than any decoration is the proper treatment of the skull for which one requires dam ngag, religious instructions. As according to Tibetan belief, every skull has protectors (srung ma) and Dakinis but also evil spirits (gnod byed), it could be dangerous to possess a skull without instruction and only the right treatment will generate the Siddhis and further the Four Kinds of Activities (phrin las bzhi).

According to the gTer ma of Sangs rgyas gLing pa, a Kapala should be consecrated on an astrologically very auspicious day. Then all sorts of obstacles are removed with smoke and wrathful Mantras and some alcohol is poured out to the "Three Roots" (rtsa gsum). The skull needs to be dried and anointed. After that the Kapala is filled with small images of "Three Roots", with Mantras of deities, of the god of wealth, of protectors ect. The names of all members of the Guru Lineage are put in as well as personal whishes. Pieces of gold, silver precious stones, medical ingredients such as camphor, nutmeg, sandalwood, musk, consecrated Dharma medicines, ring bsrel of Lamas, different kinds of wheat, fruits, flowers, pieces of tiger - leopard skin, silk as well as an essential text on Mahamudra or rDzogs chen ect. are placed into the skull bowl which is then wrapped in cloth. After an invocation of the Ye shes pa into the Kapala, it is sealed and hidden in a shrine closet, with the rang sa side showing to oneself. If one continues to make proper treatment the Kapala will certainly qualify as a "Whishfulfilling Jewel" (yid bzhin nor bu). Special Mantras are connected with such skull practices, for instance OM RATNA MAHAKAPALA SARVA SIDDHI PHA HUM HUM or - according to Grags pa rGyal mtshan the Mantra OM KAPALA BODHICITTA OM AH HUM, which ought to be represented 900,000 times in retreat. In this case the skull turns into a support (rten) of enlightened motivation, Bodhicitta (byan chub sems).

Through these rituals the Kapala is turned into a direct object of worship. In other cults belonging to the classes of Tantra human skulls are used as offering vessels. According to rites on the levels of Kriya and Caryatantra such as an Amitabha and Amitayus offering feast, the skull cup is filled with sweet fruit juices as a symbol for "lifespan, wisdom and merit increasing nectar".

In rituals of the highest tantric order (Yogatantra and Anuttaratantra) the skull is filled with alcohol as the "Inner Offering" (nang gi mchod), symbolizing the "Five Kinds of Fleshes" (sha inga) and the "Five Kinds of Nectar" (bdud rtsi lnga). Within this system of Anuttaratantra skull cups are used as well for offering in two seperate vessels "Blood" (rakta) and "Semen" (bdud rtsi) to the Protective Deities (chos skyong). While strong black tea added with special "Rakta pills" serves as a substitute for "Blood", white alcohol mixed with "Dharma medicine" (chos sman) transforms into "Semen".

During empowerment rites into Higher Tantras one could receive the "Secret Initiation" (gsang dbang) by means of nectar out of a skull cup which clears all obscurations of energy, bestows the experience of "Great Bliss" (bde ba chen po) and qualifies one for Sambhogakaya. In certain meditations belonging to the category of Anuttaratantra class one's own skull serves as an essential support (rten) during the visualation process (skyes rim). During the practice of gCod for instance, or in the visualation during the empowerment rite for the Sadhana of Milarepa, one's own skull serves on an immaterial level as a cooking vessel in which one's own corpse boils and transforms into limitless nectar which satisfies high and low. Or in another context one's own skull is visualised containing the Organs of the Five Senses objects as an offering to wrathful divinities. Further the Kapala is meditated on as an important implement of many protectors and divinities belonging to the Highest Tantras. Filled with blood it is the symbol of wisdom (shes rab) and matches the hook knife (khri gug), the symbol skillful means (thabs).

In the esoteric Tantric tradition, a carefully chosen and prepared skull is much more than a ritual object. A powerful Yogi will be able to use a consecrated jewel skull for all kinds of visionary and prophetic purposes. He may read in its lines the state of his own inner realization as well as his kkarmic obstacles with greater clarity than in his palm. According to an oral instruction given by a Tibetan sNgags pa one can use a skull for prophetic purposes in the following way: The vein imprints inside the skull signify obstacles by which the person whose skull one bears, was affected during his lifetime. Positive marks in the skull demonstrate the qualities of the deceased. Bone is considered to be alive, therefore the good and bad marks of the deceased will influence also the bearer of the skull and could be of dire consequence to him. A tantric practitioner however will use the karmic power of the skull as a means to enlightenment by mentally transforming the Kapala into his own Mandala. The tree of life corresponds now to his own lifespan counted as hundred years starting at the root, his year of birth. The branches of the tree turn into the four elements which are connected to the five wisdoms and five passions. Any negative mark in the skull is then analyzed and identified in the Mandala. By drawing lines to the trunk of the tree, the year of occurrence of obstacles can be detected. Further by connecting the mark to the nearest branch its element is discovered. The nearest bending twig on that branch signalizes the dominating passion of the obstacle. The position of the nearest uprising twig on the same branch indicates accurately the year in which the obstacle transformed in wisdom will be overcome. In such a way a skillful Yogi is aware of his outer and inner obstacles by using a skull.

On quite a different level oral tradition knows of the use of skulls for black magic purposes. So for instance, in order to generate a dispute between two parties, one could avail oneself of two skulls from men who both died in a quarrel, fill them with appropriate spells and tie them up with string. When these skulls are buried on a path trodden by the two parties, they will certainly turn against each other. As a counter-action the skulls need only be turned in the opposite direction.

A whole skull is used as a medium for entering into contact with the shi 'dre, the ghost of the dead. For this the sorcerer recites particular Mantras which make the ghosts of the dead speak. Then the sorcerer may use the shi 'dre as his servant for all sort of destructive magic.

Human as well as animal skulls are also used in connection with exorcism and protection against evil: in order to avert or to counteract the harm caused by all various classes of sri demons, the most efficacious method is to perform the Great Rite against the sri. For this one has to bury or set out a nine-sectioned Kapala at a crossing, filled with slips of poisonous paper inscribed with magic spells and the drawing of a lings, which contains all evil and harm caused by the sri. The paper must be tied up with a five colored ribbon. In case a nine-piece Kapala is not available, nine different kind of animal skulls must be provided: of a yak, dog, camel, vulture, marmot, cat, fox, jackal and a mouse.

Summarizing the essential points, human skull cups are used in three different ways:

1. It is used as a direct object of worship as a "Jewel bowl" or "Whishfulfilling Jewel" representing the "Palace (gzhal yas khang) of the "Three Roots". In this connection it is also used as a support for Bodhictta.

2. It is used as a ritualistic implement

a) as an offering vessel in rituals of the four Tantra Classes: Kriya and Caryatantra: for nectar increasing lifespan, wisdom and merit. Uttara and Anuttaratantra: for the "Inner Offering", for offering "Blood and Semen", for bestowing the "Secret Empowerment".

b) as a medium for prophetic purposes

c) for black magic

d) for exorcism and protection against evil

3. It is used on an immaterial level as a support for visualization.

a) as a cooking vessel for one's body offering

b) as an offering vessel for the Organs of the Five Senses

c) as an implement of wrathful deities and protectors

As for the symbolism of the skull: It symbolizes Wisdom (shes rab), Great Bliss (bde ba chen po), Self sacrifice (lus sbyn); its symbolism embraces the Absolute (don dom) beyond all dualistic concepts; on the level of relative reality (kun rdzob gi don) it is a symbol of impermanence. A skillful Yogi will use it with transcendental awareness "out of which he drinks with self-abandoning pleasure the one taste of Samsara and Nirvana", to speak in the Doha language of Siddhas.

Norki79 posted a link to the Bedi Brothers' documentary on YouTube, which I'VE been looking for for years:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BmEitZupV8

it is in segments.

a caveat:

Dolf Hartsuiker (who wrote the Sadhus coffee table photo book which probably many of you have seen) said to me, 'the "documentary"of a few years ago by the Bedi brothers, is absolutely and totally fake.'

I have not watched it yet but am about to, so long as my internet doesn't go down!

From some of the other posts, it seems that there is a misunderstanding concerning the panchamakara ritual. Some linked this practice to simple transgressive behavior, overcoming taboos, and things along these lines. While there are some practices that sadhaks perform to gain a true realization called "One Taste", that might be considered transgressive or defiling, the panchamakara ritual is not one of them. This ritual is an offering, an internal homa with the mandala having been established in the subtle body. The liquor is transformed through mantra and devotion to amrita. The sadhak should not have the concept that he is offering defiled things, but supremely purified things. To say it is about transgressing norms, like the sadhak is some pimpled rebel pre-teen giving the finger to society, is a gross misunderstanding. The Tibetans have the same thing in the Vajrayana tradition, but since it is in some ways a more formal system, you don't have people who have never performed it running off about it.

With the proper understanding of the ritual, the sadhak can perform complete purushcharana within the inner body, and be able to skip the worship of external fire, tarpana, abhiseka, and the feeding of batukas or bhramins. Mastering the ritual is mastering power. The sort of practices that are considered transgressive and defiling, are often given to sadhaks who are extremely pure having already gained some realization, or they are performed by those who have already transcended those concepts. Just because one can do a traditionally defiled or transgressive act or worship without concern, does not really mean they have transcended the concepts. Maybe they are just defiled, so why would it bother them. To do these things, and to have success at the panchamakara ritual takes an even higher degree of purity and sincerity then with strictly satvic worship.

Admittedly, I am a complete dilettante and dabbler in both areas, but...

I have a question.

Do you think there's a connection between the two belief-systems? If not, then what do you think of the question itself? And if you do think there is a connection*, what do you think it might be?

(*By connection, I don't neccesarily JUST mean "direct line of contact", but also similiarities in thought-processes, general concepts, you name it.)

The Way of a Vajrayani Yogi

Dear friends,

On the auspicious day of Swayambhujayanti, historical birthday of Lord Padmasambhava the Buddha (Shravanishukladashami, the tenth day of the waxing moon of the month of Shravan), according to the Indian Tantric-Buddhist calendar, I wish you all The Balance of The Paradox in the way of sharing my bliss of translating The Great Guru’s teachings on suchness of equality.

With Love and Friendliness………Kulavadhuta Satpurananda………

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Teachings of Padmasambhava assigned as Padmavajrapada, a translated version, excerpted from Advayavivaranaprajnopayasiddhi (The description ensuring accomplishment in oneness of Wisdom and its Means), the completing chapter of Guhyashtasiddhisamgraha (The compilation of the eight secret accomplishments).

[The lines within quotation marks are word-to-word translation from Sanskrit maintaining the original syntax. The lines starting with a dash are the literal translations of the lines within quotation marks. Translated by Kulavadhuta Satpurananda.]

“At present, the two sections as Wisdom and Means are to be judged/analyzed.”

— The two terms Wisdom and Means are to be analyzed here.

“Why is Wisdom so called?”

— What is Wisdom?

“(It is), according to discipline (dharma), marking the eternal flow (of) thoughts derived out of listening [the teachings] one with the analysis of experience. (There are) two types of Wisdom such as:
Probing (analytical)
Non-probing (experiential).”

— When the discipline of Dharma flows spontaneously in the thoughts of one who has listened to the teachings of the Buddhas and analysed one’s own experiences, one gains Wisdom. There are two types of Wisdom – the probing (analytical) Wisdom and the non-probing (experiential) Wisdom.

“To probe each and every (state/thing), to search, to know, to get through infallible observation; ‘she’ (such) is Probing Wisdom. To be as it is without probing; ‘she’ (such) is Non-probing Wisdom. ‘She’ (such) Non-probing gradually clarifies the truth of nothingness of the ‘self’ of all entities of all living beings as such, (through/by) realizing makes the knowledge [understanding] (of) not enjoying [meaningless to probe]; also makes (one) ‘victorious’, makes (one) invincible.”

— Analytical Wisdom is to probe into each and every matter, which is to search, to know, through the practice of infallible observation.
The experiential Wisdom does not need analysis. Experiential Wisdom gradually clarifies the truth of Non-Identity of all identities. Realisation is the understanding of Non-Perception which is beyond just analysis. One can be enlightened by just experiential Wisdom through winning victory over sensual bondages.

“Means are also described as fourfold by infallible realization. (It is to be understood such) so long as illustrated by the infallible Buddha-Mind.”

— A Buddha-Mind realises the fourfold Means, and only a Buddha-Mind can illustrate such.

“First is the rule of service, second is the alternative practice;
Third is the (direct) practice and great practice is the fourth. (1)
[Guhyasamaja. folio 162]

Another inference:

First is the realization of Voidness, second is the assimilation of the indestructible;
Third is completion of the reflections and fourth is the indifference in inequality.
Thus by the indestructible square (Vajra-Square) is said to be the completion of
knowledge.(2)
[Guhyasamaja. folio 163]”

— [literal translation not required]

“So thus:
Marked by no thought/no emotion/non-existence is Wisdom, marked by thought/emotion/existence is Means, so it is.”

— Wisdom is recognised by Non-Perception, immovability of mind, and Voidness. While Means is recognised by pure perception, pure emotions, and Existence as it is.

“So it is also said:
Marked by non-becoming is Wisdom, and marked by becoming is Means, so it is.”

— Wisdom is Being without Becoming, while Means is The Becoming of The Being.

“Out of it, by the applier, the seed of samsara expands;
five enjoyments, the attributes of passion, are for child-awakening thoughts. (3)”

— Samsara is the expansion of the Being in Becoming through the sensual enjoyments regarding physical-vital-mental-intellectual-identity crisis. The sensual enjoyments originate out of passion. Passion of sensation grows perception through recognition, like a newborn passing through sense-experiences grows habits to sensuousness leading to attachment to sensuousness and produces perception.

“That is why the yogis never try again to practice Buddhahood by dharmas;
blissful desire (aspiration) in such case is loving friendship and thus Compassion. (4)”

— The yogis practice Buddhahood through the direct experience of the blissful desire which is the aspiration itself and teach through loving friendliness known as Compassion. The yogis do not follow the doctrinal teachings of the dharmas prescribed for followers.

“Neglect and also acceptance, power and also inspiration;
enlightening, heroic and wrathful, equating character, courage etc. are
Self-same Nature and the other-nature (both) to be equally traversed, by Self-existence.(5)”

— The Self-realised nature of a yogi is marked by the balance between the inner and outer nature equally traversed by Self-existence. The inner nature of the yogi in correspondence to the outer nature or material world works out as a Guru (enlightening) through non-attached love (neglect and acceptance), compassionate Wisdom (power and also inspiration), saving others winning over their ignorance by persuasive Compassion (heroic and wrathful), balancing minds in equality (equating character), and courage to show the right path to people. But the yogi at the same time does not get fixed to the inner character of Wisdom working out Compassion as a Guru. This is how a yogi lives as a compassionate Guru and at the same time as a simple human being in perfect balance of Wisdom and Compassion in Non-Duality.

Mucus, blood, bile, stool, hair, bones, all these are spiritual, I have understood this from coming to this tribe. I can't wait to roll around in mud like a pig, or go to a funeral home and grab a skull for a drink. Thanks Saul for all this enlightenment. You are my guru here at Tribes.
Jaya Durga Mata the greatest demigod! I am her bhakti yoga devotee! All glories to worshipping dead stuff! It's soooo spiritual! Jaya!

about Eating meat

When in Africa .. I had willfully followed some odd man that was seemed to be coverd in piss .. But it was shinning as if the piss had an effect of making him Crystal like .. I hoped in with him on a bike before isort of visualised killing my family and doing the most god forsaken thing .. Then I enterd his house there .. Had the most fucked up and somewhat interesting experince in my life .. heard Wolfs howl and my ability to control eletricity around me .. Also was able to look into the Crytal ball There and see a star move .. Nice stuff .. the ball was white ..

Well then I meet his wife I was very ready to have sex with her but it seemed it woudl not work .. hmm the best way I could describe this person was he was liek an Ape .. Seemed to do everything I wanted him to do and was like a pet to me oh not to mention my Magical Rituals of the Past and Freaking Sai baba deevotes .. One hell of a bastards they are .. anyways ..

He put the food in front of me and told me if i Wanted to eat .. I accepted and we both ate from the same bowl .. After eating the Rice and sappose Cow meat .. I went out with him for a stroll.. as i walked i could see shadows flicker and odd stuff .. We ment to a dark place and he removed a joitn and we smoked it .. So then what seemed like some sort of massive Energy Vibe coming from him and me and him controlling it to keep shadows from coming close to us .. Nice stuff .. and yes a big palace was there to .. Perhaps to much Drugs eh ?

Well .. I then went back to his home and he put on a tape of a pastor taking about thundar .. everyone was laughing this wasnt the sort of hol;y church you would think of .. here except one lady that looked lieka skeleton was sitting Quite and had a very boney structure ??!

Dont really know .. As the pastor exclaimed thunde ri could feel my self being struck with it .. funny them .. but then he went to sleep and I watched it after the whole thunder thing .. I was resting and felt as if air was all around me .. There was no place this air could come from buit it came from someplace and was a very different Air ..

Nice feeling .. anyways .. I stood up light my cigy and went out into the Hood .. The place was called Ajah it has nothign to do with the Indian terms Ajah meaning 'come' ... so as i walked i dance din spiral forms and notice seeing odd Drawings .. well as a walked like azombie .. A complete dead man towards I dont know .. seems lieka call that was calling me .. I could see Goats running around and cats while the shadow took alittle white to follow them as they went of ..

then I was ambused by some men and the first look they looked at me .. i had the feeling i was very feirce .. They ask me what are you doing here and who brougth you here ? I was liek i dont really know .. just named some name out of memory .. Then they wrote abbasador below in the sand and the phone numbe they needed to call .. which i told them and was a complete random number .. So they called up the number and spoke with the guy ..

Suddenly a guy came out from one of the Rooms and said what is he doing here ? They guy seemed masonic to me .. Because I happen to meet a Grand Master once .. i sort of know how they are .. He said do you want to come upstair and sleep ? Then he said its all about respect .. I wel backed off and dint go to his room .. Then this dude comes out with Open eyes and a well Strcutured body .. As if he had been molded by hand and made into a Brute .. He comes and tapes me hard on my shoulder .. and I feel a powerfull panic .. like dark dust rise and fall within me ... Then he said relax man Relax .. and he rubed his hand on my chest .. I was walkign without any Slippers .. So they brougth me slipper to wear and then I walked and they all followed me .. As I walked i could feel as if I was killing everyone behind me ..

very odd stuff f.. Well then at a moment Io felt as if I had grown 2 eagle head ?!?!? This is interesting I will speak of this after wards .. and as I walked I realsed about Geburah or Mars in its Shadowy Aspect having a symbol of 2 Dragons or Eagle Headed creature that the Good God of Marsd would join togheter and so it happened .. and people were happy and said thanks to the people behind me ..

I dint liek it one bit .. Well I forgot to say somethign .. They gave me a name .. so i knew this was some sort of Initation into a certaunb cult of some sort .. Amon they said .. i belive this Amon isnt the Amon of Egypt but the Demon called Amon ..

Wel;l anyways .. the whole thing ends in my parents picking me up and i looked like afeaking zo,bie and they were so worried .etc ..

I noticed after when i woke up in the morning that i had noticed while i was eating the meat that it had a human ear in it and that was just the time i left eating the gfood .. but must not have realsied it then .. .

So well .. My days after that were very different .. I was a man eater who had developed an inner beast that garled .. Funny thing yea ?

well i thought for the one moths as this happened .. I slapped my mom and begged her for forgivines .. not to mention my mom was goign out with some other guy .. and my midn told me she is a bytch .. Go slap her .. she sleeps with others .. Interesting eh ? now my fathe ran dmy mom are seperated .. coxz my dad found out truely she was goign out with someone else ..

Tacky .. hmm the mother figure ? Non fuckign sence .. Get down you asshole .. The mother figure is the Supernal Mother int he heaven . This mother must mimic some qualities dont get attached to your mother youw ill take your self down itno huge chains not being able to get it off and plus maddness .. and when that happens you would always run to your mother and your mom would become liek a God nanny to you ?see ..
okay anyways .. this is just my experince .. I fyou are seeking the LHP ? Liek I did and do soem crasy shit liek I did and still think its somethign worth doing ?

Be my guest .. My only Idea in the First place to do Tantra and Western LHP is coz of experinces different modes of the mind .. Hgiher ofcourse .. perhaps the lower hells are cool to ? I could be there ...

anyways ... I had a trip and the pastors and the people wher ei went to school called me a Demon and Satan Worshipper and blah blah .. I am not a type of person that would want someone to be hurt .. but certainly the chriatins dont think its so .. sooo ..

well never mind .. lets get to the Point .. I happent o meet Sethian most probably or a luciferian that was great to me.. He gave me a Sigil and a name to which I could invoke this Mysterikous Dark Diety .. Most probalby kali as one Yogi mentioned to me in Rishekesh .. My Arabic Magicians Friends say they are spirits that help you out .. Most of these figures are dark .. and no face or anything .. just dark .. but at time sI have felt and seen rbight illumination .. Most probably a Luciferian or sethian thing .. coz of the Snake anfd the Dragon also being certain Astral entites i have ahd encounter with .. but all in all friends .. it was a trip and now I am lookign forward toward being an Aghori coz I just might have alot to speak with them Devotes of the Great Mother .. The Bearer of True Sorror .. well and hopefully enjoy the Tao and not wanting to go get my hands on the Spear of wisdom and repeat the mistake that Lucifer /satan or like Rakshas of India had done ..

To gain ultimate power and miss use it .. this is true that only a Women Archetype can keep you in control in a LHP or vama marga circle ..
thats my experince anyways ..

you can notice in christainity its only baybalon that controls the beast .. so forth ..
Meeting Aghoris in the flesh

So, our tix are booked for the month of Oct-Nov - gonna mainly be in West Bengal to start with, as my Ishtadevi is Kali Ma.

Certainly we are going to go to Varanasi - any suggestions as to where I might find Aghoris? I hear rumors of Rishikesh but also many stories of hippy travellers going there to guru hop and getting exploited.

My three main things I want to acccomplish in India are these:

1) Darshan of as many Kali (and Mahavidya) Murtis as possible

2) Meditate at Manikarnika Ghat on the impermanence of life and the reality of death that so few of us in the west experience firsthand.

3) Interact with Aghori Sadhus.

any tips from people who've been? If it is meant to be, it is meant to be, I think, but one has to be proactive as well.

this is all so comforting

i was thrilled a few nights ago reading though posts speaking about what is profane..
when i work with plant medicines there is a particular skew on the type of energy that works with me through me that i have given in to very little.
i told one of my shamans' apprentices and they said they'd never heard of the medicine offering these scenarios before .. so i felt somewhat isolated in my experience.
however the last shaman i sat with, i expressed my experiences to him and he said i might seek out this sect although he didnt know the name and saul and myah directed me here.
i am not very well versed in hindu history, philosophy or religions and dont know much about the aghors except that i am oddly compelled and resonant.
in the beginning i was instructed to do small things like pee on altars (the instructions come from various plant medicines/altered states of conciousnes)
most often they ask me if i will just desicrate myself with feces , urine or vomit and allow my mind to have whatever experience it is having without having to attend to/manage the physical, it is often a struggle for me because i have no agreement with those around me that i may smell badly or be disgusting if they see it that way
and there was much expressed to me in these (i call them) negotiations about what becomes available for me and my community via my conduction of these acts.
sometimes they speak to me of the value of being repulsive and what i gain from repelling others
i am more or less spouting here but just grateful for a place to speak of the unspeakable that's been going on for the past.. in may it will be a year since it began.
can someone suggest whether i might read or visit or what one might do if it were their own experience...?

Dattatreya

In Aghora II , Vimalananda states that Shiva was in fact a disciple of Dattatreya, But other sources state that in the Nath tradition he is an Avatar?

Taken from
http://www.avatara.org/dattatreya/dform.html

Commonly seen in modern posters is the triple-headed form consisting of the heads of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva mounted on a single body. The Vedic literature, however, gives no description like this. Rather this represents the misconception of certain philosophers that Dattatreya is a combined form of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva

And

The Bhagavata-purana and the Markandeya-purana, are the most authoritative sources on the Dattatreya-avatara and they identify Him exclusively with Lord Vishnu.

Can anyone clairify further?

Has anyone been to the aghora ashram in Varanasi? I believe it is called Baba Kinaram Aghori Ashram and , the current lineage holder is Satguru Avadhoot Siddharth Gautam Ramji. What is it like? What kind of experience did you have?

I've been traveling around India for the past five months. I'm currently in Tamil Nadu and thinking about heading north to check out the ashram. I don't have a lot of information to go on, so anything that you know about it would be helpful.

Here are the details,NB the Saturday and Sunday workshops are expensive (and more ayurveda based so i wont attend) but for anyone who would like to hear him talk on friday night talk it is free.
Im assuming that he will be there for Shivaratri till 5 am , and then starts his workshop 5 hours later.

Anyone in the UK who is going drop me a line, and i will see you there! :)
The influence of cosmic rhythms and seasonal cycles on individual well-being. “Rhythm is essential to life. Establishing a rhythm in each cycle is to physical health what satisfaction is to mental. Only when the body’s metabolic processes function with the proper frequency and intensity is physical happiness and health possible, and the mind remains in balance when it is pleased.” - Dr. Robert Svoboda

Sunday | February 18 | 10.30am - 3.30pm
Workshop: Ayurveda for Women
In modern times the life of women has become increasingly stressful due to the numerous demands placed upon them. Society’s health requires men and women alike to learn how to preserve a woman’s well-being and promote her natural spiritual development.
This workshop will cover the following topics: Life as relationship; Maintaining balance during stages of life - pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood and menopause; Finding your spiritual centre; Common remedies for problems specific to women.

Hello Everyone-Aghora this community??

I just joined this community today so Hi to all. I went through all the posts. Save 2 or 3 posts the rest talk about some book or website or documentaries or something similar.

Why?? Why not discuss the finer aspects of what aghora is and what it means to each of us.Why not discuss if we understand what the 5 elements are or what the gunas are. I joined with great anticipation, but all I get to see here is just something else.

I am sorry my friends, my intention is not to critisize, but lets make this place more interactive and a place where in we can share some knowledge 'if we possess'.

Thanks

14 Chakras

hi, i would like to ask a question here.
I read somewhere that aside from the 7 main chakras,
there are 7 other chakras as well,
and that these 7 chakras are below the muladhara base chakra,
and that they go successively down,
each of the lower 7 chakras
corresponding to a plane of existence
that is lower than the earthly plane of the base chakra.
and that the soles of the feet
are the physical counterpart of the lowest chakra,
associated with very sinister demonic realms.
has anyone ever heard of this?
thanks,
Om

that the origin of Aghora was a way that one who has killed priest
can burn off their sins by living like an aghoir
outcasted , begging with sculls and living in cremation grounds

i havent yet read all of aghora volume 3, law of karma, but i know from previous books he states that 3 things cannot ever be forgiven, murder of guru, rape, and gambling, this does seem contradictory, as svoboda always mentions how much vimalananda loves horses and the track, my question is.... "has he or does he already accept the fact that he will never escape what some may term as " maya" by indulging in these activities", or is it just a way for the rest of us to to be aware of the fact that these limitations exist ? once again i havent read #3, so all thoughts and comments appreciated
Voyage Into Hindu Madness of Cannibalism
Monday June 02, 2003 (1613 PST)

TAMPA - Washed-out posters of missing Western tourists were everywhere in India, Mike Yon noticed during a trip last year.

The 39-year-old Winter Haven native and former Green Beret was gathering ideas for a book as he traveled through Asia. He found ripe material one day in front of a funeral pyre.

Yon watched an Indian holy man meditate before a burning corpse. It was his introduction to the Aghora sect of the Hindu religion.

Some members, he learned, practiced cannibalism to gain magical powers. Yon was hooked when he heard Aghoris speak of a member from Houston. Born Gary Stevenson, the man went by the Aghori name Kapal Nath.

India, Yon was not the first to notice, is a destination for seekers. But this was something else.

``Like the skeletal remains of the Vietnam War, all these Americans and Europeans who went there seeking enlightenment or running from the draft have gone off the deep end and never come back,'' Yon said. ``India's market is spirituality.''

On Sept. 5, 2002, while Yon stood on the shores of the Ganges River, upriver from Rishikesh, an Israeli tourist, Ori Yelinek, fell off an inner tube and drowned.

An Israeli team sent to recover the body finally pulled a Caucasian from the river, though it was not Yelinek. As the recovery team and Yon watched, an Aghori walked to the bloated body on the shore, placed a coin on the man's exposed liver, pulled off a piece of the corpse and ate it.

``It's a very open society,'' said Yigal Zur, 48, the Israeli who led the dive team. ``But to me, it was a surprise.''

Zur, who searches for missing persons throughout southwest Asia, said 10,000 Israelis visit India annually, many seeking brief adventures before mandatory military service. Some disappear.

Though Zur knew of the Aghora sect, it wasn't until he spoke to Yon that he began wondering if some of the missing became sacrifices for Aghoris.

``When you see them eat someone dead, yes, it's disturbing. But I don't see them as killers,'' Zur said.

Yon wondered, too. ``I heard rumors that European and American tourists were being taken,'' Yon said. ``It sounds ludicrous, but where it is in India, anything goes.''

Foreigners are viewed as powerful, Yon said.

``If you sacrifice a rich or powerful person, they have more Shakti,'' he said, referring to the creative energy Hindus believe flows from God. ``Children have more Shakti because they haven't lived long,''

::: Dark God

When he reached Nepal, he again heard of the American Aghori, Kapal Nath.

::: The sect uses whiskey to mimic the Aghora version of Shiva, the last from the divine trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the Hindu god of destruction and reproduction. The Aghoris also worshiped Kali, the destroyer, the dark god of Hinduism.

Yon decided to seek Nath to interview him for his proposed book.

After several months of searching, Yon found Nath, 52, in a restaurant in Varanasi, a sacred Hindu city. He told Nath, who lived near steps leading to the Ganges where corpses were thrown after a purification burning, that he was a writer interested in Aghoris.

Aghoris often live near ghats or cremation sites on the banks of the Ganges, where the bodies of Hindus have been burned for several thousand years.

::: Swathed in dreadlocks and branded with tattoos, Nath told Yon his story. Only three teeth remained in Nath's mouth, and his health was poor.

The American Aghori spoke of wishing to return home. But he feared the cultural reaction to him.

As he spoke, Nath drank from a human skull in the Aghori custom. He carried small drums made from baby skulls.

::: As they sat in the restaurant, Nath talked of how humans should be prepared.

``I like to take a fresh body, you know, maybe even an Israeli, cook 'em barbecue,'' Nath spoke into Yon's tape recorder.

Nath described his technique, using a ``big, big bucket of barbecue sauce, paintbrush, roller, you know.''

Crimes In The Homeland

Yon spent the next 11 days with Nath. Cannibalism, Yon said, was taken as a part of Indian culture.

``The amazing thing is they are doing it there in the open,'' Yon said. ``A policeman was burning the body of his neighbor and cracked open the skull to release the soul. The policeman gave Nath some of the brains to eat.''

::: ``He talked about barbecuing people, like emu Texas style, with a big bucket of barbecue sauce,'' Yon said.

``He said human meat has the same taste as pork.''

What Nath gets from eating human flesh is ``extraordinary energy,'' Yon said.

The Extreme Side Of Hinduism

The Aghora sect is far from traditional Hinduism, which values cleanliness and harmony, said Parimala Nathan, an adjunct lecturer on Eastern religions at the University of South Florida.

``It must be a totally extreme sect,'' Nathan said. ``The peace and nonviolence of Hinduism would be totally opposed to this.''

Aghori ascetics believe that by consuming human flesh, they can break the cycle of life and death and avoid reincarnation, according to a description by the British St. Martin's College Religion Department.

Aghoris typically live at cremation grounds, smear themselves with the ashes of corpses and eat from a cranial begging bowl, the top part of a human skull. Some Aghoris eat the flesh of corpses only rarely. They meditate by sitting on the corpses, believing they gain control over the corpse's spirit.

Within the caste system of India, traditionally only the lower castes handle the dead. Nathan said Aghora is a primitive form of spiritualism, closer to tribal religions.

``This is a deviant ritual that has nothing to do with mainstream Hinduism,'' Nathan said. ``Nonviolence is how you find freedom from the circle of birth and death. Eating human flesh is nowhere close to attaining that freedom.''

Historical records kept by the British indicate Aghoris have long been accused of practicing human sacrifice because sacrifice was a part of cults that worshiped Kali.

Hello everyone ,I am new to the Aghora tribe and hope you guys accept me as a member.I have gone through almost all of your articles and have loved all of the stuff.I have found new knowledge from all you guys. Now a little about myself,I am Omkaar, just 20 years old,I have a long way ahead,I am a Saraswat brahmin by birth, and so a Shaivite.About my community ,Saraswats are brahmins who are shaivites and have had lord Bhavanishankar as our primary deity,Bhavani is the godmother parvathi and Shankar is as all know shiva,in this form we have both shiva and parvathi together. We,by saying we I refer to saraswats,my community, have had a very long enduring guruparampara. We have had the fortune of having highly enlightened swamis or gurus in our community all of whom have achieved the state of mahasamadhi, there were 10 documented gurus ,before which we or my fellow brethren have known not much of our older gurus. Our last guru swami parijnanashram 3rd achieved mahasamadhi, after which we have our 11 th guru swami sadyojaat shankarashram. Now to the present, I am intrested in the aghora and tantra rituals because I have been studying these from afar as I belong to a community which have had similar practices in the past but were abandoned, or discarded and the adi shankaracharya's ways were embraced. Now after I read Akshay's post on aghora the left hand of hinduism and after reading saul's post on the pisha ' chyas and yakshini and so on ,I would like to know more about these supernatural beings. As many people have mentioned the significance of a guru and the fact that mantras need elaborate rituals is true but I'd like to narrate an incident involving a certain member of our saraswat brahmin community, his name was Mr.Chidanand and he was a great singer of indian classical music ,another aspect attributed to his mantra siddhi. The thing goes as ,when this Mr. chidanand,I'll refer to him as chidu henceforth, chidu was it seems a normal child from his childhood living in rural karnataka,he had a paying guest or a renter at his home when he was a child and this renter used to teach chidu some mantras ,his mother was quite happy knowing that the guest was teaching her son mantras, being from a brahmin family, she was elated, the glitch was that no one in the household noticed what the guest was teaching the child,it was some mantra on it seems a devi.Chidu got through his childhood without any problems, but when in his teens he began noticing that for all the past years he had been reciting the mantra he never knew what it was, what it meant. But at the age of 12 or 13 he said he would have dreams in which he would see a woman clad in a white saree, these he thought were mere dreams, but these started turning into visions, this time the same woman would appear in front of him when he would just shut his eyes and meditate,he soon found her to be friendly, she would speak to him,and so on.But these visions started getting more intense as he would say that the woman started appearing completely stark naked in front of him, whenever he would meditate. He said that he was tempted to spend more and more time with her as he was just a teen in his 15 th or 16th year.He never knew what was happening,by then the paying guest had long left his home and was untraceable. He amazingly started gaining powers in ways as the art of singing Indian classical music, locating lost objects for other people he had never seen in his life before. To test his power we went to him with an empty glass bottle from home and asked him to show us his power ,it was unbelievable as he without opening the cap of that bottle filled it with Bhasma or ash with one tap on it, right in front of us.He could do many amazing things like this but soon he found out there was a price to pay as his life became miserable he turned into a drunkard, and craved money and other physical pleasures. At the same time he told us that he could not get rid of that yakshini, finally he came to visit our guruswami who at one glance said that he had been practicing something that he souldnt have had done.Upon which chidu broke down into tears and told the guruswami anandsahram his plight, that he was not being able to get rid of that siddhi, upon which the guruswami gave him a jaap which he started reciting 24hrs a day.One fine day after itseems some 40 -50 years the same paying guest who had imparted upon him the siddhi came out of nowhere asking what chidu had done ,because now that yakshini itseems started bothering him and started making that mans life miserable ,he said it almost ruined him.Chidu passed away a long time ago he even predicted his own death simply amazing, his memory still lives on as a lesson, power should not be used without the guidance of a guru. And yet it raises the question that is it possible for a child or an immature person to attain such power without the guidance of a guru, without knowing the purpose of the mantra or without knowing what it is just by reciting it for a period of years...? the above narrated incident is 100 % ture including the names of the people involved.Since this and past incidents we have been forbidden the practice of using and gaining this power by all of our gurus.guys please shed light on the subject,I know another person by name prabhakar who lives and uses this power still,he has gems and ungents by which he is practicing he learnt the art in kerala. Saul is very knowledgeable I hope he can elaborate more.Akshay also help, your previous post was an inspiration.I want to know more about the supernatural beings.

My experience with an aghori guru

My tantric guru Jagud Baba of West Bengal, could probably be classified as an Aghori. He lives in a small mud hut at the edge of a shmashan. More acurately, he is a Shakta tantrik and a vamachari. He has been very generous with me, and is usually quite layed back. He is quite different and very powerful at night when doing sadhana in the smashan. While doing a homa in the smashan (right on the spot where the bodies are burnt) with him, a man came out of nowhere and handed him a human skull which in one whack of the fire thong he split in three. There were three of us there! So we had a nice patra for our drink.

We have made pilgramage trips to Tarapith and Varanasi, but have spent most of our time in rural West Bengal. There are ladies there that go into trance and get taken over by the Goddess. It is something to see. There is one lady that I met that is Kali incarnate. The people in these villiages are absolutely amazing, such great hearts.

When you start doing left hand practices, you must continue and be very dedicated. You have to be bold without being disrespectfull or flippant. Many obstacles will be thrown up. There is a real possibility that your life will turn into shit for a while. ...Keep going! I suffered for three and a half years when I started. When you deal with power you must be contained. This is a problem that i see with some. They get a little shakti or realization and they blow their load(pardon the expression). Don't talk too much about what your doing, and don't talk about inner experiences. Let these things ripen.
My Best to All,
Mazu

Was Gour Kishor Das Babaji an aghora?

I am not sure of the definition of an aghora but there was a Hare Krishna guru named Srila Goura Kishora Dasa Babaji Maharaja who used to live near a crematorium. He ate out of a human skull. He would place his rice in their. And I think he used ot cover his body with ashes?
Why? All in an attempt to keep people away who wanted to become his disciples. He never accepted any disciples except one, that one disciple was Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja, who founded sixty-four temples, or Math's. He only accepted Srila Bhaktisiddhanta after Srila Bhaktisiddanta threatened to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge if the babaji didn't accept him. He was so determined.
Before he left this mortal plane Gour Kishora Dasa Babaji said,"When I die I want you to drag my dead body through the streets so that people can see what becomes of such a great sinner as me" and feed my body to the dogs, or something like that, to several people. So when he left they tried to do it. Many people came to claim the body for their temple to be used to attract people to give donations. But Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Maharaja, a celebate all of his life, claimed the body for himself.

Author: Verma, K. Krishna
Title: Aghor Tradition and an Aughar in India

I just ordered it, seems to be long out of print. on a similar note, anybody have "On Aghoris and Aghorapanthis"? that would be something to scan and make into a pdf, since it's so long out of print and was written at the beginning of last century, so I suppose there would be no copyright issues.

so I saw Aghoris in the oddest place - on the MTV show "Wildboyz", which is basically two of the guys from the Jackass show being, well, jackasses in other countries with animals and locals.

if you thought the national geographic show was sensationalistic, you'll hate this one. not very respectful - but then the show isn't respectful of anything at all. and the Aghoris kinda seemed like they were just acting weird for the cameras.

URINE DRINKING
BOOK
You’d probably have to be mighty thirsty to drink your own urine, but millions of people do it every day. Recent research shows it might not be such a crazy idea - and this research could lead us to the “jet lag” pill.
People have been drinking their own urine for thousands of years. A few Prime Ministers of India, Morarji Desai and Mahatma Ghandi, did it every day. According to Paul Keating, Queen Beatrice of The Netherlands actually drank a glass of pig urine on Dutch TV, to “prove” that Dutch pork was of the highest standard.
Some supporters of urine-drinking claim that it is mentioned in the Bible. Proverbs 5: 15 says “Drink thy waters of thine own cistern” , while John 7: 38 says “Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters”.
However, some old Indian documents are very definite about the benefits of drinking your own urine.
The ancient yogic text, “Damara Tantra”, refers to a technique called “shivambu kalpa vidhi”, which means literally “urine revitalising technique”. In this text it says “a sensible man gets up early in the morning when three quarters of the night has passed (about 3 or 4 AM), faces east and passes urine. The initial and concluding flow of urine is to be discarded. The intermediate flow is to be consumed. This is the most suitable method”. In other words, drink your own mid-stream urine, very early in the morning. They called this habit “amaroli” - and it was supposed to help them meditate.
But other people claimed medical benefits from urine. As recently as 1863, the habit of injecting urine was mentioned in a book called “The Physiological Memoirs of Surgeon-General Hammond, U.S. Army”. He recommended using a hypodermic needle and syringe.
Today in alternative medicine, the healing use of urine is called “uropathy”. It is claimed to cure everything from cancer to AIDS. It’s used in every form imaginable. Patients are supposed to drink it, squirt it into various body orifices to use it as an enema or a gargle or a douche, dribble it into their eyes and ears as drops,. If they’re a little shy, they can start off with just sniffing urine. Certainly many athletes claim that washing your feet with urine heals blisters very rapidly.
Normally, your body makes about 1 ml of urine per minute - about a small glassful every hour. Urine is about 95% water and about 5% solids. These solids include vitamins, proteins, enzymes, salts, uric acid, prostaglandins, and a recently-discovered hormone called melatonin.
Melatonin is the probably the reason the ancient yogis drank their own urine. Melatonin is made by the pineal gland, which the French philosopher and mathematician Descartes called “the seat of the soul”.
As a drug, melatonin has a wide range of effects. If you eat it or drink it or sniff it, you can get everything from mild sedation, pain relief, sleep, a feeling of “emotional balance”, increased visual imagery, and feelings of elation right up to an alteration in your ability to estimate time. Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland only when your eyes are shut. In your blood, the levels of melatonin peaks around 2 AM, but there are significant quantities made between midnight and 6 AM.
It turns out that beta blockers, a drug commonly given for high blood pressure, prevent this night time release of melatonin. This might explain why beta blockers sometimes cause nightmares.
Now the yogic ritual is to get up at 4 AM, drink your own urine and then meditate. Any urine made after 2 AM is loaded with melatonin, and this melatonin might relieve some of the physical pain of sitting motionless and cross-legged for two hours. It would certainly make your meditation easier if you also had increased visual imagery, and feelings of elation. Also the melatonin helps to reset your body clock, and it fools your body into thinking that it has had enough sleep. In fact, scientists are looking at using melatonin as a pill to protect you against jet lag, by re-setting your body clock.
The yogic texts also say that the urine of children is superior to that of adults. The pineal gland in children produces more melatonin, and this is why children sleep longer than adults. The urine of children has much more melatonin than the urine of adults. The extra melatonin would help the meditation.
The yogic texts also say that you should drink your own urine every day for over a month before you get the full effect. Studies have shown that you need to take melatonin for about a month to lock in your sleep cycles.
So the ancient yogic texts were right. A glass of urine a day could keep the stress away. Drinking your own urine could be very handy if you have a big project coming up, and need to burn the candle at both ends. If urine becomes really valuable, maybe recycled lemonade will cost more than fresh lemonade.

PINEAL GLAND - BIOLOGICAL CLOCK

The pineal gland is a small white gland buried nearly in the centre of the brain. It is shaped like a tiny pinecone, is about 8 mm long, and weighs about the same as a house spider - about one tenth of a gram.
Parts of the pineal gland turn to calcium quite early in life. Doctors who see this calcium on X-rays have long called it “brain sand”. They found it useful as a marker of the mid-line on X-rays of the skull. Brain sand is found in 30% of people aged 10-20 years, and in 80% of people over 30 years old.
During the day, the pineal gland turns tryptophan into serotonin. At night, it converts the serotonin into melatonin - the chemical that helped the early yogis meditate. So the pineal gland turns information about light (and how many hours of light there are each day) into the hormone, melatonin
The pineal gland is quite small in animals that live near the Equator - where the days are always 12 hours long, and the timing for breeding is not so critical. But near the North and South Poles, the timing is more critical, and the pineal gland is larger. In the newborn elephant seal, the pineal gland takes up 50% of the brain weight!

THE HISTORY OF THE PINEAL GLAND

Practically all animals with backbones over the last 500 million years have had a pineal gland. The pineal gland feeds information about the length of the day and the season to the “master clock” elsewhere in the brain.
In the tuatara, the primitive New Zealand lizard, the pineal gland sits just beneath the skin on the skull. In some lizards the pineal gland is exposed to daylight through a clear window on the back of its head. Perhaps the pineal gland is the famous “third eye” of the mystical East.
Herophilus, in the fourth century BC, claimed that the pineal gland was a “valve” that regulated the flow of thought out of little storage bins in the brain.
René Descartes, around 1640, believed that the rational soul lived in the pineal gland. He claimed that information about events in the real world entered the eyes, and then passed by “strings” in the brain to the pineal gland . The pineal gland reacted by sending “humours” down hollow tubes to various muscles of the body . He was very close to the truth.
In 1918, a Swedish anatomist, Nils Holmgren, found that some cells in the pineal gland of the frog and the dogfish were surprisingly similar to the light-detecting cells in the retina.
In 1958, melatonin was isolated by Lerner and his colleagues at Yale University. The chemists took 4 years to extract the melatonin from the collected pineal glands of 200,000 cattle.

MELATONIN - THE DRACULA HORMONE

Scientists call melatonin “The Dracula Hormone” because the blood levels are much higher at night. They also call it “The Hormone of Darkness” for the same reason, and also because we know so little about it.
Daytime blood levels of melatonin (in people of all ages) are 17-43 pmol/l. Nighttime levels depend on your age. They are around 1080 pmol/l in children aged 1-3 years, 520 pmol/l in children and adolescents 8-15 years old, and they gradually drop until they reach levels of about 86 pmol/l in adults aged 50-70 years.
Melatonin production is completely switched off by very bright light (about 2,500 lux). Typical indoor lighting is around 250-500 lux. Outdoor brightness ranges from 10,000 lux (cloudy day in northern Europe) to 80,000 lux (sunny day near the Equator).

JET LAG AND MELATONIN

“Jet lag” is the disruption of your internal body clock. You want your breakfast porridge when everybody else wants dinner. About 15% of travellers never get jet lag, 15% will be bed-ridden by it, while 70% can get by, but don’t feel great. You need about one day to reset your clock from the shock of crossing one time zone. So it will take you 12 days to recover from flying halfway around the world over 12 time zones.
The standard advice depends on which way you are flying. If you are heading EAST over six or fewer time zones, expose yourself beforehand to natural morning light for about 3-4 hours. But if you’re planning to cover more than six time zones, avoid the morning light and get the midday light. If you are heading WEST over six or fewer time zones, expose yourself to natural afternoon light for about 3-4 hours. But if you’re planning to cover more than six time zones, avoid the afternoon light and get the midday light.
But this could all change when the melatonin pill becomes available. If you take melatonin in the morning, it delays your body clock. If you take melatonin in the afternoon or early evening, it advances your body clock. So adjusting for jet lag could be as easy as taking a pill at the right time!

URINE - CLEANER THAN SALIVA?

Most people think that urine is full of germs. They’re wrong - urine has fewer germs than your mouth, or the water you get out of a tap.
Normally, urine is “sterile”. This medical jargon means that there are no significant numbers of bacteria. If you were to take a few millilitres of urine, and add some germ-free food-for-bacteria, no bacteria would grow. But if you were unlucky to have a Urinary Tract Infection, then there would be bacteria in your urine. These bacteria would grow in the presence of bacteria-food. A microbiologist could recognise these bacteria, and test to find which antibiotics would kill them. Then your doctor would prescribe the most appropriate antibiotic.
So while your urine might not seem very delicious or tasty to drink, at least it has fewer bacteria than your own saliva.

URINE-DRINKING IN TAIWAN

About 200,000 Taiwanese drink their own urine every morning. This movement began when Chen Ching-chuan met an old war friend, after 14 years separation. To his surprise, his old friend had not aged. His friend said he had been drinking his own urine - so Mr. Chen followed his example.
Mr. Chen ran into trouble with the local police, when he recently had to apply for a new identification card. He looked 44 years old, not 64 - but luckily, a friend gave the needed identification. The urine-drinking movement is now so popular that it even runs a Urine Therapy Hot Line.

by Dolf Hartsuiker, who did the Sadhus photo book.

Not much on Aghoris, but still interesting stuff about his encounters with Sadhus. There is a section on foreign Sadhus, and this makes me think - besides that wanted-for-murder character, does anyone know of any western Aghoris?

so I've been reading "Aghora" by Robert Svoboda

I just bought this book yesterday... and it has been very fun reading...here's a clip, have any of you read this one? Im sure you have..

"How does a mother know when her child is hungry?

It cries. Whenever it cries in a particular way the mother knows,"Yes, time for feeding." I know this from my own experience. When I am really angry, disgusted with the world, Ma comes to me and taps me on the shoulder, as it were, and says, "Forget all about that. Do you know...?" And She proceeds to teach me something new, something I had never dreamt of, something so amazing that I become speechless and forget my anger completely. What compassion! Was there ever a mother such as She? "

this paragraph was from a book that I'm reading right now.. It's called Aghora, by Robert Svoboda. I really felt this part alot, as i am with much of this book. I hope you like it. And I hope Ma has tapped you on the shoulder recently.

There are many parallels and intersections between Hinduism and Buddhism. This tribe has started of the acknowledgement of similarities, as well as differences between these two traditions. In a society and historical time where so many cultures are all coming to meet one another at the dinner table, many practioners may feel drawn to different aspects of Hinduism and Buddhism. This tribe has been created in honor of both traditions as a space where discussion can occur respectfully and freely about these spiritual philosophies, as well as what its like to draw one's practice from these two different paths. Feel free to bring up teachers and sources of inspiration to you in Buddhism (all its forms....Tibetan, Zen...), Yoga, Martial Arts, Ayurveda, Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Shamanic practices, modern day teachers such as Eckhart Tolle and David Deida, science of Siegal and Goleman, Zen Therapy, Transpersonal Psychology, Somatic Psychology, Carl Jung. Where do we all draw from and how does it all fit together???? Let's meet at the intersection....

During the eclipse on Oct.2nd/3rd. reciting the following Aghor Mantra will give it's Siddhi. I shall try to make it as simple in English ( the pronunciation included). Should be recited RHYTHMICALLY. Sit on any asana ALWAYS esp. Red if possible.

"aum hrong aghore ghore hungm,
ghortare hungm; (tare pronounced not as in 'tearing tare...but as ta-re)
aum hreengm kleengm, sarvatah sarvaange,
namaste rudra roope hungm."

To be recited at least 108 times....

undoubted mr schreck has his critics, however i found this book a well researched "journeyman" level attempt to explain the more extreme left hand paths---both east and west.
