Exciting news for '09!

So 2009 is starting to look like it's going to be a good year. I am now a teacher at a fun new studio in Berkeley, CA called Hipline check out www.myhipline.com. So that's really exciting! I'll also be in the next installment of By Dancers for Dancers woo hoo!!!! AND, I will be working with cheeky girls productions for my very own instructional dvd series :-)

So, what I would like to do is ask what topics do you think I should teach? Here are some of my ideas:

-Modern Egyptian Technique and Combos
-Raks Sharqi Chorgography
-Saidi/Assaya Combos or Choreography
-Melaya Luff

Is anybody out there?

I know Tribe has been pest lately. One day it's up, the next 3 days they're doing "maintenance." So... I wanna know what's going on with you!? :-)
What are you working on? New choreography? Are you planning a hafla? Taking an interesting workshop? What's inspiring you right now?

I'll start.

~Right now I working on about 5 different choreographies and I have a few shows coming up. The first show is a cane dance for a documentary called "The American Belly Dancer." We're shooting that this Friday down in Monterey. The next project is Cairo Couture's Raq the Runway in SF! I'm so excited about this event! I can't wait to see the new line of Eman Zaki costumes :-)

~Lets see... after that I'll be performing in the Luna Guitana evening show down in Santa Cruz. This should be fun because Aziza's the featured dancer and I looove watching her perform.

~Lately I've been watching a lot of Cirque Du Soliel's "Dralion" dvd. It's so inspiring and amazing the things people can do with their bodies :-0

~My dvd project is on hiatus until I move and get settled in.

~And I'm going back to Egypt next spring! Woo Hoo!!!!!

Raq the Runway

This event was awesome! Shaunte put together a wonderful show. The line up was to die for!!! Lotus Niraja, Samar, Haifa Wahab the list goes on. I was so honored to be in such good company. This was the first Raq the Runway but it isn't going to be the last. I will keep you updated on future events.

Bra: 36 B (can fit a small C)

** Comes with a veil, head scarf and arm bands. The waist strap is missing a stone. I was dancing in it one night and it fell off. I can't remember where I put it, but it's not noticable.**

Updates

March was a really busy month for me. Between school, traveling, teaching and performing I felt like my head was spinning! (But in a good way) Mexico City was so much fun! Ramah Aysel's was a great host and her students were vey fast learners :-) The weather was wonderful in Mexico but the weather in Spokane was the polar opposite, literally.

I arrived in Spokane, WA on Friday March 28th and as the plane landed I noticed that the ground was totally covered in snow! Besides the snow, Spokane was beautiful :-)

Now, I have less than two weeks left of school, and I'll be leaving for Dallas early friday morning to attend Fifi's workshop event and i'm soooo excited. I have no clue what I going to do as far as performance, but I'll work it out ;-)

So if anybody's out there, what are you up to?

Ahava's performance on my new Shape Up N' Hip Out DVD is stunning. I had the pleasure of meeting her at one of my workshops and was so impressed with her beautiful style and grace. I asked her to participate on my DVD because I thought she could really bring a pure Egyptian dance quality to my project and she did just that. It turned out to be a wonderful combination of bellydance styles with Ahava doing Egyptian and cane, Denise doing double sword with her Argentinean flare, Louchia doing fusion with wings, Heather on double veil and drum solo and me, well, being Jillina - whatever that is. :) Thank you Ahava for being so great to work with!

Yellow/White Costume:
This costume was custom made for me two years ago, but I've since gained weight and can't wear it anymore.

Skirt Length: 37 1/2 inches (L.rose)
*Also comes with matching gaunlet gloves and yellow chiffon insert for the skirt*
