It is with great excitement and anticipation that we invite you to participate in the first, Water Woman gathering, an all-inclusive global event on the Sunshine Coast this summer, inspired by the popular annual ‘Burning Man’ festival.

Someone captured us on Video in Ashland and uploaded it to "You Tube". The performance we did there was a spontanous gig at Wellsprings. (A hotsprings we stayed at) They wanted us to perform for their 7:7:7 Festival. The lady dancing is our belly/hoopdancing comrade and sister Jeska.

It was all Freestyle.

Terran and Hjeron are on percussion - Noah's on the banjo - Rebecca on back up vocals and I'm the one singing and playing guitar.

official data gathering update: the effects of bass on brains.

so
after three full weeks
back in the school system,
i can officially say that, i believe my hypothesis to be TRUE.

students DO learn better with BASSY beats in the background.

it's true!

i've been studying this for well over a decade, and on my current run as a public school "teacher" (read: data collector, promoter, recruiter, and educational outreach reprezentative, ACTING as a teacher), i've been doing tons of experiments with some amazing home grown beats as the basis of my re:search.

my findings thus far:

-100 percent of all high school aged students exposed to akhentek's "solar unity" felt their bodies wishing to bounce around. 100 percent of students surveyed after the first listen said they felt "some sort" of effect on their brain. i told them a bit about the brain wave generator and some of the techniques that akhentek uses, and they were all extremely fascinated.

-100 percent of all elementary aged students who were exposed to akhentek and jomega's track "plugged in" answered "yes" to the following question:

would you like to hear more of this genre of music?

the students were then asked to draw pictures depicting what the track made them "see" in their minds. i've collected the specimens, and almost all of them include space shuttles, strange planetscapes, and alien type creatures. veeeery interesting.

the entire earthdance compilation was played TONS in classrooms over the past three weeks as well, especially during test-taking times. students appeared to demonstrate increased focus and longer attention spans. during art periods, students were observed creating masterpieces that were seriously out of this world. lots of space themes, LOTS of colour, LOTS of interesting otherworldly creatures appearing. in PE classes, students showed increased stamina and strength. during one floor hockey game, while the bass rumbled the floors, a small group of students and i created a complex series of synchronized movements, along with a rhyming cheer that went right along to the beat of the music.

i will be continuing this study,
regardless of how many times the old teachers in the adjacent rooms complain about my bass.

i am determined to prove that bass vibrations can heal,
and that well crafted music can actually aid in the learning process.

this is my mission on your planet. it's a serious, one, i know, but i really feel like i'm ready for it. it's like proving the "mozart effect", but with bassbins and bad-ass galactik hyperintelligent musicians on board.

A 2 day intensive introductory audio engineering workshop ~ by artist "Akhentek"

2007 ~ Artist "Akhentek" will be instructing a 2 day intensive introductory audio engineering workshop, once a month.

Students will get opportunity to work in both a group and an individual project.
The software used will be cubase sx, ableton, reaktor plus a number of other VST plugins.

Subjects include sampling, sequencing, midi, editing, synthesis and there will also be small group discussion focusing on topics from the dimensional musik teknowledgies workshop series.

The number of audio workstations in the studio limits the maximum attendance to 2 students, ensuring a more personal and focused learning environment. (preferably a one student at a time...)

Location: ilum studios, gibsons
(13 min bus ride from langdale ferry)

re:generate was simply the best "small alternate party"
which turned out a lot bigger and juicier than anyone hoped

it marked this first time i ever mixed some
of my own music into a psytrance set... it was
really fun to finaly do that with all my friends around

every act played a great set throughout the gathering
anahata live was the highlight for me in the morning

my ears were in disbelief at what he was putting through
the speakers, while everyone sat around in meditative
positions simply absorbing the spiritual experience.

what a great cd release set on matte's part.. congratulations

Yep, we're crazy but after spending days and days cleaning up what we created on private land outside LA, we're going to do the Circus of Collective Consciousness once again this weekend on Denman Island (45 minutes north of Nanaimo and a 10 minute ferry ride away) in the most collective of Circus styles. Denman Island is about 45 minutes north of Nanaimo and a 10 minute ferry ride. The Denman Hall is a 5 minute walk from the ferry, take the first left off the ferry and you'll end up in at the little corner store. The Hall is just past that, ask anyone. It's a small island and everyone knows everyone, they're very friendly so don't be bashful! There will also be maps up at the store and Hall with directions to the Hillbury farm...plus we are going to try and have an info person to give directions at the store during every hourly ferry unloading. The scout will be wearing a top hat with a pirate skull on it or a black furry kitty hat with pink ears and pink pom poms. Makes them easy to spot!!!

Intention 7.5 Summer Camp July 7-9 (Sunshine Coast)

In the midsummer of 2006 the tribal dance network family are invited to pack their camping gear and join together at the first summer version of our annual winter Intention Retreat. Situated at our time honored Crystal Creek location on the Sunshine Coast BC, we join with the intentions set upon it, of crystallizing conscious community in balance with nature.

As with all Intention Retreats, it is less spectacle oriented and more participant driven, with people encouraged to share their talents, gifts,resources,ideas and skills towards co-creating the micro version of the world we wish to inhabit on an eventual larger scale. At the same time we are each witness and encouragers to each others growth and our collective movement towards evolution in a spirit that contains child to elder.

To increase the participatory levels and give time for the needed collaborations and projects that will be created to be ready for the camp we will be hosting a small number of local orientations in the community fold. At these working pods will be formed.Other visiting dance tribes are encouraged to host their own in preparation and will be given support to do so.

To give a loose idea of how things will flow and how you can insert your flavor into things, the weekend may contain:

THE SOMATIC WAVE

A revolutionary way of initiating movement with energy instead of
muscle!

This leading-edge style of Yoga combines aspects of Chi Kung,
Cranialsacral work and Continuum to lift you into yoga poses from the
inside out. Your body becomes self-supporting through "tensegrity" (a
Buckminster Fuller principle). Learn to surf gravity's antiforce,

Ashanti Shakti from Portland, OR has been intensively practicing Tantric and Chi energy movement for the past year. Based on her 10 years of experience practicing meditation, buddhism, yoga and tantra she has intuitively found that combining certain eastern energy movement techniques enhances their realms of effectiveness

PERMACULTURE with Peter Light

Permaculture is about permanent agriculture; permanent
culture; intentional community
"self"-sufficiency/"self"- reliance; providing for all
of human need in as small a space as possible: and
dropping out. It about making a radical break with
the dominant paradigm. It's not a hobby. It's a
lifesaver.

It's also about work and commitment.

What are the prerequisites to permaculture? How do we
get started? What needs to be in place to propel the
plunge? What is necessary to sustain that break with
the mass culture for years?

The presenter of this workshop has thought about these
issues since his first drop-out in 1962. He will lead
a discussion based on what motivated him and what has
kept him living simply and alternately for over four
decade.

TRANCE FORMATION:
The Spiritual Dimensions of Global Rave Culture

Over the course of nearly two decades, the rave scene has evolved into much more than simply an electronic dance music party. For thousands of people around the world, it has become an important source of spirituality and the closest thing they have to a religion. In this workshop, Robin Sylvan will share material from his recent book, Trance Formation: The Spiritual and Religious Dimensions of Global Rave Culture, an ethnographically rich look into the spiritual dimensions of rave culture from a theoretically informed religious studies perspective. Combining firsthand accounts, extensive interviews with ravers, and cutting edge scholarly analysis, Robin will take us on a colorful journey from San Francisco to London, from Burning Man to the Love Parade, and illuminate the deeper aspects of rave spirituality. We will also explore next steps and future directions in the evolution of the spiritual/intentional wing of the rave scene.

TRANCE FORMATION:
An Experimental Electronic Dance Music Ceremony

While many raves use ceremonies to create sacred space, unfortunately, all too often, the intense trance energies generated on the dance floor dissipate as we shift into a passive verbal mode. But traditional ceremonies like the West African possession dance or the Sufi Sema of the whirling dervishes demonstrate that trance dancing can be utilized in a ceremonial form that channels these energies toward sacred ends. This workshop with Robin Sylvan is an experiment in creating this kind of ceremonial form with electronic dance music. Using sacred intentionality, ritual practices, and specific movements, gestures, and formations, we will focus and direct the powerful energy of the trance dance experience in a ceremonial context in a specially designed hour-long sequence of music. We will trace the arc of a ceremony – creating a sacred container, generating energy, and dedicating that energy – through trance dancing to electronic dance music, so that the ceremony, like the rave experience itself, is danced/embodied/enacted rather than spoken.

Robin Sylvan, Ph.D., is the founder and director of The Sacred Center, a spiritually-oriented educational organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has taught in both mainstream academic and alternative experiential contexts. He is the author of Trance Formation and Traces of the Spirit: The Religious Dimensions of Popular Music, and has been a music aficionado and spiritual seeker for most of his life. He is now working on a major study examining the brain science of musically-induced spiritual and religious experiences.
