Hello All-
Hope you had a great burn!
For the possible good of the order, here following below is a copy of a message I just replied to over at the 'other' Alaska Burners listserve, on Yahoo Groups.
Anyone else think it would be great to get a permit for one of the parks in Anchorage (or Fairbanks, for the crew up there) and have a potluck or suchlike, share playa photos and stories, and so on sometime fairly soon before the weather goes frigid on us? Most areas hold a Decompression party after the burn; maybe there are enough of us (at least in the Anchorage and maybe Fairbanks regions of Alaska) to pull such off now...?
BTW, who is the Alaska Regional rep and how do we get in contact with her/him, anyone know? I recall someone stepped up to take that on but do not remember who told me or where I saw it.
Best,
Stevendalf

Hi Playboise-
Eden, are you the moderator for this Yahoo Groups listserve?
There may not be one. Some occasional spam comes through via this listserve and a couple of Santa rampage pub crawls have been announced here but that is about it. What little actual Burner to and fro I have found for Alaska has been at the Alaskaburners tribe on Tribe.com -there have been a couple efforts toward establishing an Alaska camp on the playa at BRC or doing a potluck or somesuch up here but so far nothing has actually come together as far as I know. You can read the history of the to and fro in msgs at Tribe.com
An excellent burn this year in almost every regard, yes? Colossal art and burns. Starhawk gave a wonderful talk, too, crowned by the appearance of the magnificent double-rainbow. Wonderful.
My crew were on the playa again this year (our sixth burn) with we old folks' RV serving as a camp-away-from-camp and feeding station for five young Alaskans in their early twenties (our son and his crew). While roaming out and about in BRC over around 3:15 and Jungle or thereabouts we spotted two old school buses all gloriously painted up for Woodstock with "Yes, we are from Alaska!" on them and flying the blue and gold Ursa Major flag. Stopped in and said hi to the bunch of twenty-somethings there; apparently about half of them drove down and the other half flew from Alaska and were met in Reno. Looked and seemed like a fun crew, but it was only 1:00pm or 2:00pm when we stopped by their busses and that early in the afternoon they were of course mainly still asleep.
So, that twenty plus our seven plus at least three other Alaskans I know were there in BRC makes at least thirty Alaska Burners on the playa this year. There are doubtless others of whom I am unaware. Together with the Alaska Regional rep (I heard a gal was stepping into that role) that is a fair number.
Best,
Stevendalf
PS: I'll crosspost this note over at Alaskaburners on Tribe.
