Informal and Unofficial Campin Fun

I know as burners we like to think big, plan big and throw the kind of parties that people love to talk about. The problem with all that is planning and prep. I propose a light camping trip in the near future that we can use as both planning mission for a larger event and a chance to meet up with other burners. (I've only met three others since I've been back up here.)
I know we are rather spread out in this state but if someone has a favorite camp area I'm open to suggestions. Once we get together, it will build the excitement and momentium to other events.

Good plan. I've had grandiose ideas of a solstice happening but thinking now that it might be best to do what you're saying - a smaller camp out that would lead to bigger things.

Any ideas for a date and place? I'd still love to do a solstice camp out - there are some areas north of Fairbanks that are great, as well as off of the parks and out there - perhaps Tangle Lakes or something like that?

Also, it would be good to plan for the Burn, perhaps plan a caravan of Alaskans that will be driving down (as I am this year)...

Hello to all, I am tagging along on this thread for a jumping point to introduce myself. My Playa name is Daisy and in the default world I am known as Melanie and I am also the newly appointed Regional Coordinator for Burning Man Alaska Chapter.

A few things I would like to point you to...
Go to Burningman.com and you can see my profile in the regional contacts or you can e-mail me at freezerburner@gmail.com

I will not be attending Burning Man this year and have a ticket for one worthy soul. I am working up a small artistic competition for the ticket for all Alaskan resident who are interested. Send me a line and I will get you hooked up. Check on Craigslist Alaska for info on that too. I will finalize by the end of the weekend and have dates and guidelines for those interested.
I would love to do a compression camping trip, but as I and a few other interested parties are located in Anchorage, and not Fairbanks, could we meet more in the middle? Say around Talkeetna? My dad has some property and it is fairly easy to find.

That's it for now, I just wanted to introduce myself and get it out there that I am here representing Burning Man.

Thanks for sharing that contest idea with everyone in here.

It would be cool if we could have a campout - perhaps next month sometime? If your dad's property is available that would be awesome! Halfway pretty much for those of us from Fairbanks as well - sounds good to me! And Talkeetna is a nice area.

Anyone else in here interested? We could pick a weekend in July sometime - maybe later in the month and have it be our compression campout or something of that nature.

Hopefully, next summer I will have myself a little more in place to start planning for a true Solstice celebration that you will all be invited too - if anyone wants to help me start planning or contribute ideas or resources please let me know - I'm guessing I'll probably get started on the brainstorming and logistics shortly after the Burn so I have ample time to be ready for next June!
