I had a great time at the hoop workshop yesterday! It felt great to be in the hoop again, and also to share it with so many other people.
Hope you can come back and teach us more soon!!

Mon, October 22, 2007 - 4:02 PMKammi is a really excellent instructor, and keeps the class super light-hearted and fun while STILL cramming in a ton of info :) By the time it was done, people who couldn't even hoop at the beginning were dancing with their hoops.
Yeah, you guys definitely need to hit the next one!! -

Mon, October 22, 2007 - 11:41 PMThanks Joanna! You're so sweet!
It was so beautiful to see you rockin' the hoop with your momma belly. Thanks for coming to my workshop!
I had a great time at the hoopshop, and definitely learned a few things in the process!
Next time I will find a much larger space with high ceilings so it doesn't matter when the hoops go flying.
I will break it up into 1-1.5 hour classes over a period of a couple days.
For example something like:
Class One: Waist and Hip Hooping
Class Two: Chest, Shoulder and Neck Hooping
Class Three: Off-the Body Tricks
Class Four: Angles
Class Five: Putting it All Together
Then, you can come to the class or classes you are most interested in learning.
And then, at the end of the series, in the evening, we'll have a large, fun, unstructured hoop jam!
How does that sound?

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 9:24 AMThank you!! I was so surprised at myself. I think you are an awesome teacher and I felt very comfortable trying new things. My friends had a great time too. We really want to get a hooping club going in Anchorage (hint hint Joanna) :) I can't wait to learn more!!

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 10:52 AMThe Spenard Rec. Center may be a place to check out for next time. They have a big room on the main floor which my troupe has used for practice. It doesn't have mirrors though. And I think it was just $5 to get in. I think 20 or more people could easily fit. Let me know if you need me to look into it! -

Re: Thanks Kammi!
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 11:11 AMyeah, that room would be ideal! Or even the gym itself at either of the rec centers.
Hooping club?? Hell yeah! Except I really have no idea how long I'll be able to comfortably hoop...I guarantee I'll be ready to go come summertime...hooping in the park, anyone? -

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 12:21 PMOh yeah, i forgot to mention, Marla - you were ROCKING that hoop. Ooooh, maybe it's time to think about choreographing a hoop/bellydance group number! Wouldn't that be a hoot??? -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Thanks Kammi!
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 5:19 PMWhy thank you! I would love a hooping choreography... it might be dangerous though :) The spring/summer would be a great time to start the club and hooping in the park. (And maybe work off the winter or baby fat!). Belly hooping, I like that.
