This is pretty last minute, but I just realized I'm going to be in Anchorage for the Bioneers next weekend - October 19-21 - and was thinking maybe I can pull a hooping workshop together for then too! I was thinking of a two-hour workshop during the day, probably on Saturday, and then a hoop jam that night.
Would anyone be interested/available?
What time might work best?
Any ideas what spaces might be available?
Let me know what you think, and maybe we can make something happen!
Thanks!

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 4:21 PMIt's an awesome idea, the only bummer about doing it on the 20th is that there's a big bellydance Halloween hafla that evening, so I think a big chunk of your audience is going to occupied with that.
Also, on a more selfish note, I'm busy with another workshop during the day on Saturday so wouldn't be able to go. So just speaking for myself, Sunday would be better, preferably after 2.
As far as spaces go, you could check into the local rec centers -- Fairview Recreation and Spenard Recreation. They have multi-purpose rooms and gyms that could work. -

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 8:41 PMI could do Sunday just as easily, i think.
I'll check into the Rec centers - that's a great idea.
Anyone else interested or have thoughts on timing? -

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Thu, October 11, 2007 - 4:42 PMHi Kammie!
I would be able to make it on the 19th, but will be out of town on the 20th. If you do get something going on for the 19th let me know. Im so there! Even if you dont get anything organized, or cant get anyone else on board, we could still get together & play. Im excited just to meet you & pick your brain about a hoop biz & teaching.

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 10:27 AMYeah! This sounds fun. I still don't have a hoop, but I should have time to make one (or buy one from you) :) Are you bring some to sell? I checked out your website and they are great! -

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 11:05 AMI think it will be really fun! I hope you can make it.
I think I will sell any of my "Down-To-Earth" practice hoops at a discounted rate at the workshop $20-$25. If you want a sparkly glittery one, better to order it online and give me a few days to make it as I am restocking all my supplies right now, and won't have those made by the time I come to Anchorage.
ps - I think the workshop will be at UAA, but I will let you all know when I know for sure. -

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 11:25 AMI'm in :) Probably won't be there right at 2 (I have Nomadia practice at 12:30, we usually go right til 2 or a little after), but I'm assuming the beginning will cover basics, which I pretty much already have. Can I make a special request? I've been trying for the life of me to learn the "beam me up" trick, and canNOT get it. Can you teach this one???

Re: Workshop in Anchorage?
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 11:43 AMAwesome! That's fine if you are running a little late. The first fifteen minutes will be introductions, intention setting and warm-up.
Yes, I can teach you "Beam me up" I just taught that trick last week in my HoopGirl Class (and I think we will review it again this week because it takes a while to get it) I'm still working on making that one look graceful myself.
Can't wait to see you there!
