Hoops in the Nutcracker

Wow I noticed that some dancers in the Nutcracker are using hoops...white with red stripes like a candy cane. I don't know where in the show as I can't see it from the orchestra pit, but I saw some dancers warming up with them..jumping through them and twirling them around. Looked very cool!

I went to the show yesterday and they don't really hoop. :( It is more of a prop. The lead male performer did spin it around and jump through it pretty impressively. Morganna, Icouldn't see you, but I am sure you are a great addition to the orchestra. It sounded wonderful!!

Thanks Marla! I wasn't sure what they did with the hoops. When I saw the hoops backstage I thought of all you hoopers :-)

That~s funny - I was trying to get them to hoop in the Nutcracker in Homer this year! It proved to be too much this year for them, but they said they were interested for next year in incorporating hooping into the show. Wouldn~~t it be great if it caught on all across the country with a Hoop dance a part of the yearly Nutcracker performance!
