Welcome to the Alaskan Political Parrot Tree, a place for lively discussions on a number of topics, especially (though not limited to) topics of a political nature.

In that vein, the labels of Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian, Hawk, Dove, Leg-Humping Poopyhead and others are lazy shortcuts for quick, and often inaccurate, characterizations of other parrots in the tree. In fact, these labels represent just a handful of the variety of slider controls on the audio mixing board of life; we all have aspects of these in ourselves, to one degree or another, even the Leg-Humping Poopyhead.

Everyone on this tribe is part of a community life. One of the purposes of the Alaskan Political Parrot Tree is to have a group of people who chat and bullshit amongst themselves. This community soap box is open to any member of the Alaskan Political Parrot Tree. While I don't expect everyone to participate in everything discussed, I encourage people to post as often as they can. From time to time, we may also convene in Real Life, face-to-face activities and events, such as Coffee Drinking, Food Consumption, Pie Throwing and Leg Humping.

I don’t expect everyone to agree on every topic and walk into the sunset, through fields of wild flowers, with Bambi and Thumper, singing Kumbaya while weeping at our good fortune.

I do expect lively, RESPECTFUL, debate. Swear words are allowed, but please, at least TRY to be inventive.

Anyone who decides to set their “I’m An Asshole” setting on HIGH and repeatedly post contrary, nasty, pointless, overtly harassing comments, or verbal attacks, will not be asked to leave, they will just be pushed off their perch and not allowed back in The Tree until they decide to be part of the flock instead of a fungus among us.

This decision of perch ejection will be solely that of the Boss Macaw, the Chief Parrot, the Moderator of this tribe. I will try to not be capricious, will listen to private complaints, but if the time comes for a flock member to get the flock out, it will simply happen, with warning if possible, but perhaps not if the problem is particularly severe.
