THE A.U.M FESTIVAL
July 25 - 30, 2007
Converging on the Day Out of Time and Culminating with the Full Moon

Eureka Springs, Arkansas
www.aumfestival.net
Choose Your Own Adventure
2007 Festival Survival Guide

VISION
The A.U.M Festival will establish a safe gathering space that facilitates the exploration of consciousness and connectedness
through inspired, underground psychedelic trance music and culture. It will encourage the growth of the North American
psy-community; emphasize our ability to heal ourselves and each other; embrace an open, multi-generational perspective;
and promote an earth conscious, leave no trace ethic.
The A.U.M Festival is a conscious co-creation and experiment in radical community and psychedelic art. This festival would
not exist without YOU! This survival guide contains important information that is vital to making A.U.M a positive experience
for everyone. Please read it carefully. The A.U.M Festival can be anything we want it to be, let’s make it beautiful!

“THE BIGGER PICTURE”
The dates for AUM Festival were carefully selected to enhance the manifestation of this communal vision.
Day Out of Time
From www.13moon.com: “On the 13 Moon calendar, this day is no day of the month, and no day of the week. Around the
planet, this day is reserved for festival and community. Central focuses are: Stop business as usual and attest to the truth
that “Time is Art!” Planetary Peace through Culture, forgiveness, atonement, freeing of debts, purification, the Art of Peace,
the freedom of being alive. This is an opportunity to experience true timelessness and loving kindness. Whether public
gatherings or private circles, this day is a catalytic launch-pad for the year to come”
Full Moon in Aquarius
“the moon in aquarius teaches us to value our community: we learn from our circle, rather than intimate relations, politics
and group dynamics become part of our sacred path. now is the time to search for new allies and ponder practical applications
of the metaphysical. the path of the soul born under aquarius moon is to tend to the web of community. she needs
to respect true emotions, hers as well as others, but helps us see our interconnectedness and explore theory behind our
experience.” – From Wemoon Calendar

CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE!

Radical Participation
You are invited to be a full participant in the A.U.M Experience! Think about how YOU can enhance the festival vibe. Individual
art projects are encouraged! If you have a large-scale art project or if you will need on-site resources, please be sure
to contact us ahead of time. Costumes and other modes of self-expression contribute to the festive and liberating atmosphere
we will create. Even making eye contact with other participants is a small gesture that goes a long way. Explore your
own personal boundaries; attempt to break out of your comfort zone. Please recognize that everyone’s level and type of
participation is different!

Leadership / DIY
Although this festival is largely a community creation, there are members of the community who have assumed positions
of leadership in order to ensure the safety and well being of all participants. Please acknowledge the challenges that come
along with leadership roles and show them your respect and support. Additionally, there may be times when it is appropriate
for YOU to assume a leadership role. For example, if you notice a problem with the festival site, if there is a conflict
between campers, if you see trash on the ground – take a proactive role and find a solution for the problem. Be conscious
of your environment, if something needs to be done, don’t be afraid to take the initiative and Do It Yourself (DIY!!!).

Respect for Diversity
As a diverse gathering of the tribes it is important to understand that we all come from very different backgrounds. Please
be respectful of all of our differences. It is our differences that make us unique and beautiful shining beings. I mean, imagine a
world were everything was only one flavor... say, banana... after a while, you’d really want to eat some Indian food... Diversity
inspires growth and learning. Violence in any form will not be tolerated!

The “Info” Booth
The “Info” Booth will be a centrally located area where you can find the answers to all of your questions, yes, all of them!
Information will be posted regarding the lineup for the day and the workshop/lecture/healing arts schedule. This is also the
ideal place to meet up with other AUM participants and plan day trips and other adventurous excursions. There will be a
community message board available for you to send love notes to all your crushes, as well as network with other campers.

The Psychedelic Trance Floor
The trance-floor music will begin on Thursday and continue until Monday evening. Sunday night is the full moon and the peak
of the week’s intensity, so make your travel plans accordingly, you won’t want to miss the last night and day. The complete
timetable will NOT be posted in advance; the lineup for the day/night will be posted at the info booth and by the stage
each day.

The Chill Out Zone
The music on the Chill Stage will begin on Wednesday evening and go continuously until Monday morning. The chill zone will
provide constant aural guidance throughout the festival, offering dubby goodness to celebrate the sun and providing an
introspective space at night for those who feel the need for deeper contemplation. We encourage you to lie down and be
counted!

Workshops/Lectures/Healing Arts
There will be a large dome for workshops and lectures. Smaller areas with more privacy will be set up around the workshop
dome for people to share healing arts such as massage and energy work.
The A.U.M. Workshops area has flowed together to create a space based on Aquarian ideals of decentralized community
coming together in tribal gathering while maintaining traditional aspects. This has manifested in a series of symposiums that
gather many of the psychedelic trance communities brightest stars in a panel format to share knowledge they have about
subjects such as music, art, and organizing events.
Ever wanted to learn from long time veterans about how to create these things? This will be the opportunity to come together
and share in the greater community to learn and bring back to your community back home -wherever that may be. In
addition to this, there will be smaller circles on such subjects as spiritual paths, gender relations, even a “free school” where
you are invited to share some of your own knowledge in 10-minute segments flowing from person to person! Please visit
www.aumfestival.net for more info on the workshops.

RITUAL
~ Healing Ritual ~
Community led ritual
Friday Afternoon @ location TBA
We will be creating a safe, protected space for group healing to take place. If you are a healer, would like to receive some
healing or if you want to hold safe space, please come and participate. This is a very powerful group ritual and unique opportunity
to heal each other and send healing vibrations out into the universe. Everyone is welcome!!

~ Daily Ritual Circle ~ Elemental Alchemy of the Soul
Led by KFire
Time: 5-7 pm (Thursday – Sunday)
Location: Main dance floor (subject to change)
Enter the laboratory of the soul and experiment with ancient alchemical processes to reveal the golden truth of self. In
this workshop we will work ritualistically with the essence of the five elements (Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Spirit) in order
to undergo positive personal transformation and to deepen our connection to Spirit, the planet, and each other. In the
crucible of sacred space we will trance, conjure, sing, drum, get crafty and become a Transformer of worlds as well as the
Transformed. The ritual foundation for this circle will be rooted in the Reclaiming tradition of earth-based spirituality and
magick but will make room for other traditions in harmony with the group’s intention. No previous experience in anything is
necessary, but an open mind and heart are essential. If possible, please bring drums or other instruments and a journal.

Daily Elemental Altar-Building & Invocation
Time: 7:30 -9:00 pm (Thursday – Sunday)
Location: Main dance floor
Join us on the main dance floor to construct and decorate an altar for each of the five elements and their unique powers
and gifts. Please bring items you have brought or collected (flowers, crystals, pictures, statues, candles, etc). There will be
an invocation for each altar before the music begins each night…. everyone is invited and encouraged to share music, words,
movement, or anything else inspired by and in honor of the Element.
CHOOSE TO BE AWARE!

A.U.M. Festival Guidelines
Please abide by these simple guidelines, if you cannot, you will be asked to leave.
Safety
You are responsible for your own safety!! Use common sense and keep yourself and others safe!
Tickets
- Presale tickets are available until July 21 at www.aumfestival.net.
- Presale tickets are ELECTRONIC, you will not receive paper tickets! Bring valid id!
- Tickets at the gate are $85, $40 for Arkansas residents with valid id.
- Children under 14 are FREE. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted without a parent or guardian.
- If you have not been confirmed as a crew member, you MUST purchase a ticket, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Camping/Parking
Please camp and park in designated areas only. Rustic camping is available throughout the festival site and is on a first come
first serve basis. Camping with electricity is reserved for crew, vendors and RV’s. Please let us know in advance if you are
bringing an unusually large vehicle! Car camping will be available in designated areas.
Prohibited Items
In the interest of the safety and comfort of all participants, please do not bring the following:
- Weapons or ammunition of any kind.
- Fireworks, flares or other explosives.
- Pets (yes, that means NO DOGS).
- Glass.
- Prolonged negative attitudes with a black hole nature.

Leave No Trace
This is a Leave No Trace event! That means that you need to be prepared to pack out everything that you pack in. Some
Tips for successful! Leave No Trace! camping
- Bring less stuff! Remove excess packaging before you leave home. * For instance, if your peanut butter cracker sandwiches
are from the store, take all of the packaging out, at home, and put all of the crackers together, into a renewable storage
container.
- Please do not bring little disposable water bottles... they create administrative levels of waste. Refillable bottles are
more sustainable and very helpful at dance parties**
- Don’t let anything hit the ground! Bring trash bags and clean up as you go.
- Say something! Encourage others to do their part to Leave No Trace. * You can use direct language, such as, “hey, perhaps
you are not thinking about recycling your waste, mister.”...Or even subtle forms of propaganda, such as perhaps emitting a
high frequency beeping sound when someone starts polluting. Either way, you are helping do your part.*
- Respect the Earth and yourself; leave it better than when you found it.
- More Leave No Trace info available at www.aumfestival.net
Harm Reduction
We will be spending a prolonged period of time in an intensely interactive and stimulating environment, that is very different
from our day-to-day lives (for most of us!). Please use common sense and take good care of yourself! Sleep when
you need to sleep, eat when you need to eat, celebrate responsibly and drink more water! (You can even start by taking
extra-special care of yourself the week before the festival). If you are feeling overwhelmed from your experience, for any
reason, please consider visiting our sanctuary space that will be located near the workshop area. There will be volunteers
available to help you out and to provide information on harm reduction.

Fire
This is a forested venue; it is essential to our safety that we follow the rules about fire.
- No open campfires are allowed. There will be a nightly ritual fire located at the trance stage.
- No candles, tiki torches, or other open flames.
- There will be a designated area for fire performance and fire arts.
*** Absolutely no fireworks, explosives, or fireworks or explosives ***
Vending
All vendors must register with the festival. Please contact Aumfestivalvolunteers@gmail.com if you wish to vend. There
will be a designated marketplace area for all vendors.
CHOOSE TO BE PREPARED!

Food/ Water
There are taps with drinking water available onsite. Please bring a refillable bottle!
So far, there is only one confirmed food vendor, so please plan to bring enough food and water! The food vendor will be
serving veggie pizzas, veggie burgers and a variety of other foods. Please prepare accordingly if you have a specific party
diet... meaning, if you want to have ahi tuna poke, it is best to have it flown in from Maine, yourself, and not rely upon local
vending...
Weather

thunderstorms. The temperatures drop a bit at night, but generally will not get too cold. (Bring a good sweatshirt just in
