Late night cycling....

Well, the results are back and I am confirmed to have strep throat.....and pink eye. I have received my stern talking to about my late night adventures and I feel compelled to report to you that my late night excursions are over, at least temporarily. I am not opposed though, to daytime pub crawls. I wonder if this weekend day drinking thing might be more attractive to some. Think about it; no darkness to impair your already impaired vision, less risk of bicycle theft, plenty of time to sleep it off, possibility for a sun tan, the perks really seem to be endless. So, if you are interested, please let me know and I'll start trying to think in another direction for the next couple of months, years, etc...

    Hope you get better soon.

Is there a story on the way you got that by riding at night? And does this include night time alleycats?

The theory is; since our children are so small and their wake-up time is so early, my riding late in the evening doesn't allow my body enough time to properly recover from the previous nights exertion by the following morning when it is time to put a full work days worth of energy into following two children under three around a house full of tall tables, dog food, electrical outlets and poisonous under sinks so, when something like Pink Eye or Strep Throat enters the mix, my immune system is down and wammo, I am sick and getting sicker while the kids are still getting up early and screaming to see who is louder (the screaming hasn't actually happened, but it seems like it sometimes). Whether any of that is accurate should probably be left to someone a little more qualified, but unfortunately having the kids and a love for bicycles doesn't allow a lot of extra money for a dietitian or some other health analyst who could answer all of my life questions for me. I cannot say that I will not ride at night again as I find it rather relaxing, but my activity will certainly slow as I had been riding at night quite frequently in the last two months or so.

        bummer - speedy recovery.

I've been taking the kids with me. I got the tandem rigged so my 3 y/o can pedal along. She did 30 mile with me that other day!
