I accidentally got some sun on my tattoo today. I try to be *very* careful about that, but I screwed up. How big of an issue is this likely to be? How much sun can one get on one's tattoo before it starts to fade? Anyone know? (I got the original tattoo about nine years ago, and had a touch-up perhaps three or so years ago.)

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 10:29 PMI think you're going to be okay, Enrika. The tattoos that I have haven't faded, and I've had 'em about as long as you've had yours - AND I occasionally sit out in the sun (don't tell anyone). ;) I'll admit though, sometimes I put extra sunscreen on 'em. -

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 10:35 PMI'm sorry, Deborah, I simply don't believe that you *ever* sit out in the sun. You look 15-20 years younger than you are. I'm more inclined to believe that you sleep during the day, in a coffin. ;)

I will never admit to having seen Deborah in full daylight.
Never.
(and no burning or screaming! She's very impressive!)
Oh, oops... -

Thu, October 29, 2009 - 11:05 PMHA!!!!! That was a laugh out loud moment for me!
You've *both* seen me in the daytime. Of course, I may sleep in a coffin, you never know. ;)
(and thank you, Enrika, for the compliment, you've made my day) -

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 11:18 PMWe have wee bats here who come out every evening at dusk and swoop and flap around quite battily, I assume catching insects midair. They're very cute. :) -

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Thu, October 29, 2009 - 11:21 PMI really do like bats..... They're really cute....
There's a huge bat cave not far from where my parents live. The bats are all protected, so you can only go in the caves at certain times during the year. It's amazing when they all start flying at once.

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 1:22 AMI got to spend a couple of days around a famous bat cave (Tumbling Creek Cave) which is also a lab au naturel for studying bats. One evening we sat at the cave entrance during the evening bat exodus as thousands of bats zipped past us so close that our hair blew but never once were we touched. It was most gratifying also to hear a mosquito approach then suddenly - no mosquito - courtesy of bat legerdemain.

Re: Sun on my tattoo
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 1:56 AMwe have lots of bats here, there is a huge colony under a bridge just up the street.
unfortunately there is a terrible plague attacking bats that is wiping out colonies called white nose or something like that.
bats are valuable friends making a huge dent in the insect population. . .often they each eat their weight every night. . -
