Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 12:29 AMCliff's far too ridiculous for me to get pissed off at him. My eyes just automatically glide past his posts now. Other than a couple of posts in that link, I haven't read anything he's posted in months. It's pointless.
Apparently my brain has an automatic "ignore" button.

Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 12:29 AMI'm no longer in any tribes with him.
Hip, hip HOORAY!
He's bragged about having oil stocks, and I think he has stock in weapons companies or some Halliburton lookalike.
What's sad is that despite being a bear, I doubt he could just sit on a hill and eat salmon and be happy. -

Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 8:06 AMI just pinned his mental midget ass into a corner with his own lies and then he ignored me almost entirely for about a year. It was a nice quiet year.... Until his little pal seth showed back up. If that sorry sack of shit is a lawyer he is a REALLY piss poor one. -

Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 3:04 PMThe weird thing about Cliff is that when he cites "black letter law", he's usually correct, and he's good on court procedure -- I think he probably is a lawyer.
But then he's just plain wacky on everything else. Maybe there really are multiple people sharing that account. -

Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 11:45 PMI've only been an active member of tribe for a few months, and it's only recently that I've seen Cliff spouting off any sort of legalese. What I'm reading now is COMPLETELY different from what he was posting a couple months back. He seems to slide back and forth from sounding like a pissy twentysomething guy with an entitlement complex and no real experience...to an honest-to-Gods educated lawyer whose been around for a few decades.
Comparing some of the things I've seen him post recently with some of the first things I was (un)fortunate enough to read from him--namely his anti-warming crap, I don't see how there's NOT at least two people behind his moniker.
Hell, even his personal attacks vary in style and content. Sometimes Cliff takes half a page to eviscerate someone's character, usually by taking pot shots at their level of education...other times its "OMG UR A #T%*@(#)%*@)%(*% KTHXBAI" -
-
Re: the bear strikes again
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 11:58 PMI really doubt Cliff is more than one person... I've been on tribe since around April 26th, 2005, and he has always been Cliff. He has always spouted lawyer speak, intermingled with anti-warming nonsense. He can be fun sometimes when he gets into "bear-mode," pretending to eat salmon, etc., but most of the time he just calls anyone who is on the right track a moron or a mental defective.

Thu, August 30, 2007 - 1:08 PMActually, Cliff filled me in recently. He's a lawyer, but he's just a collection agent for the most part. He "practices law when he feels like it," he said. He pretty much shuts small businesses down for a living. -

Bite me. We both know she let those assholes get away with everything but murder, but she banned or suspended several of the more rational and intelligent people for not even doing 1/10 as much. That's what we call a "double standard." She used to be on my friend list, now I couldn't care less. I used to even like her and think she was fair. Obviously I was wrong. -

Thu, August 30, 2007 - 7:43 PMThat's what I said - Spas, Seth and Andrew are Waterboy. They were pulling the whole TOU Guy bullshit, was it Wendy or was it Doug? Or whatever their names were? It was neither one, because TOU Guy was both. They thought that was clever and original, but we used to do it in chatrooms back in '95. I figured we'd have grown out of it by now, I guess not. -

Nope. Never.
I DID everyone once in a while pretend that I was Waterboy in threads, just to fuck with y'all. I do even believe that, after being blamed for being Waterboy by all y'all wishful thinkers, I started a "I am Waterboy" thread. But.......that was just for fun.

No, they're not. And I say this with much experience. For one thing, Seth has given me a hard time about weed, and Spastic digs weed. I'd go on, but I try not to waste my time thinking about trolls.

Re: the bear strikes again
Sun, September 2, 2007 - 2:07 PMYeah, but this is what they do! They take a personality trait and stand it on their head to avoid detection. She's got plenty of experience with alt'ing up here, she's been here for... forever. She's been on Tribe practically from the day the doors opened. And I came in here fairly late - ca. 2002 the first time. She and her posse - most of them - had already been here 3 to 6 years prior to that. She's admitted to me on more than one occasion that she's trolling and she loves it. In fact, once she told me that she can't help it if the Politics tribe prefers the trolls, and that pretty much sums up her entire attitude towards tribe in general. -

Sun, September 2, 2007 - 2:11 PMWhich is... that would all be good, clean fun. The problem is, if you attempt to play along she'll do anything and everything in her power to get you booted. She goes ballistic. Now, what differentiates the jokesters and the pranksters from the trolls on the 'net? Mostly the fact that the trolls can't take their own medicine. This is Sastic Freakazoid in a nutshell. It's ok for her to get your goad and drag you along, but don't you dare try to do it for her, and don't you dare say one single, solitary word against Israel. Well, if you can't take it, don't dish it out. And when I told her that this past week - she went ballistic again. That's a troll!

Tue, January 1, 2008 - 12:11 AMCliff,
Tribe is a place where illogical, irrational mobs of people represent the prevailing view. Tribe is a place where people who really need to be on medication (and who are probably so mentally unstable as to not even legally competent to give testimony) act as if they are renowed, internationally recognized experts on varied subjects they know absolutely nothing about. In short, bullshit rules here.
So, if the tribe people hate you because you understand the law and have a rational mind, take that as a compliment. You'd have to be worried if all this rabble was applauding you. Take their laments as evidence that you still have a viable mind and a keen intellect.

So, I went to that thread. Guess what? What Cliff wrote was intelligent and just about the only enlightening, useful information on the copyright issues that were the subject of that thread. He wrote some good stuff. So naturally you hate him for it.
And some of you who are now talking shit about him were the ones who were flamming him, trolling, using foul language and otherwise behaving badly.
I think a lot of people on Tribe hate those who actually possess some real authority and expertise on a subject or two. So much of tribe.net consists of ignorant people debating with equally ignorant people. It spoils all the fun when a non-ignorant person steps into the debate, doesn't it? -
