To quote Mutaytor, Holy Fuckin' Shit!!!
They just get better and better...
Thanks first of all to Blue, the mad scientist with the vision to conceive of such a thing, the cojones to pull it off, and the humility to step in and be a kitchen bitch when we were short-handed. Equal thanks to Saynt, the man behind the curtain and the guy who sweats bullets so we can all party down! And to Auriel, Rabbit, Kiwi, Turo, Dru(Flash), Rhines and everyone else who worked tirelessly to bring it all together! To Virginia, Ron, and the rest of the Two Harbors ranger team for providing much needed support!
Thanks to the amazing Phat Elvis team, who worked miracles with limited time and resources. Most of you cannot begin to imagine what a production this was. To Big Cheese, Squeeze, and Bruce for the awesome ride to Catalina and the gift of transporting our eggs, not to mention the stealth pirate attack. BC, you ARE the Eggman! To our hard-working advance team, Dru(ssillia), Mike, Jack, Scott, JeNat and Will, who put it all together and still slaved away all weekend. To my core Phat Elvis family, Nipps, Mark, Steve, Chris, Stephanie, JP, and Juwanna, you are always there when I need you! To all the other team members, Briana, Raplh, David and Storm(from Florida), and especially those who stepped forward to lend their skills as full-on volunteers: Rico, Ed, Buddha, Megan, Girlbob, and so many more that I haven't forgotten you, I've just lost count. Must've been 40 or 50 people working in the shack over the weekend! Let's not forget Stream for inspiring and coordinating the rum!
And last but not least, thanks to all of YOU who made it possible, who patiently waited in the hot sun while we got your food ready, who showered us with thanks and compliments that helped lighten the load, and that helped us out with financial contributions.
Thanks to everyone for passing the hat on the ride back and filling it up THREE TIMES!
When it all comes down, it still takes a lot of money to bring us to the table. Over the past three years, I've borrowed thousands of dollars to bring together the kitchen you saw before you, driven my truck into the ground, and lost more money supporting events than I care to recall. What started out as a pet project became a community resource that has become more and more in demand. From preparing a single soul food meal for 100 to feeding a crowd of 420+ nutritious, cross-cultural, meat, vegetarian and vegan fare over a three day weekend. Thanks to Blue's support and your generosity, we not only covered costs, but began to make headway toward paying back that borrowed money, the first time that's ever happened!
I know that there were some of you who wanted to make additonal contributions, and these will be greatly appreciated! Contributions can be sent via PayPal to: marc_bruce@yahoo.com. You will receive a PayPal receipt from Phat Elvis himself...
Thanks again to everyone!

Re: Phat Elvis thanks you all!
Thu, June 26, 2008 - 10:14 PMI would like to thank those that helped in making the kitchen functional. As Viagra and I first got the plans off and running, we had a vision, we knew it was going to be difficult, but amongst those that dare to dream, Viagra took this amazing feat and made it happen. For our first year, we knew that things will be tight. We started with a small budget, which looked good at the beginning, but as we discovered the challenges of shipping everything to the island, the elaborate menu, our budget wasn't enough to reward all that worked tirelessly around the clock in that kitchen.
Viagra is a true leader. His management and ethics is held mile high in my book. We made the ticket prices super cheap for this first year so our community could enjoy a real nice vacation. We love this community and all the work we put into it is well spent. However, I had underestimated a few things for Alma. By working side-by-side with the kitchen crew, I realized the constant work that was involved, night and day. Even by my own standards of hard work, I appreciated the efforts and the love that went into that kitchen. I've never seen so much love for the community.
Thanks you so much for your hard work, months of preparation and your love, Viagra. Thank you for your leadership and all the wonderful crew that I had the pleasure of working with.
It is no joke that after each event I tell everyone that it is my last event. Then I see the pictures, then I see the love and realize the importance of our connection and brining people together.
I want to thank those that donated money to the Elvis Chicken Shack. You guys rock.

Fri, June 27, 2008 - 1:15 PMThe frogs in a hole (eggy in a basket to you brits) were totally random, but one of my favorite breakfast treats. I think we should make this a featured item from here on out.
Speaking of frogs...I failed to thank Lady Frog, who came to the rescue Friday afternoon when half our kitchen crew was greeting, and helped round up more help to get y'all fed! Also Mr. E, Bad Dawg, Vixxen, Heaven, Auriel, Brenda, Lily, Coach, Samwise, Gitte, Wolfie(not DJ Wolfie), Helen, Biz Buddha, Indy, Bee, Purple Weasel, Spark*l, Veganskater, Klear, and a whole bunch more... -

Re: Phat Elvis thanks you all!
Fri, June 27, 2008 - 6:16 PMThanks for letting me lend a hand, Viagra. It was an honor to be a part of such an important aspect of that amazing weekend. I like to consider myself a hard worker but after witnessing the effort you exerted for such a sustained period of time i realize that i still have a ways to go.
I said it several times that weekend and i'll say it again here.... its REALLY not work helping out with things at these events--it is just so damn rewarding. I LOVE and adore this community and the fact that we just fucking make things happen. that being said, I realize it IS work being in charge of things for these events like you, blue, saynt, turo, dru and several others always are. it is because of this that my help is ALWAYS at your guys beckon and call. participation is what makes this shit so magical and i can only hope that more and more people will discover this absolute truth and take our community to places we have yet to imagine. I truly believe we havent even scratched the surface of our underlying potential.
Oh, and by the way, MAD FUCKING PROPS TO BLUE for doing what so many said couldnt or wouldnt be done. Your vision is amazing, my brother, and a constant inspiration to me. Take a well deserved break, but if you were to stop doing this it would be a major shame and immense loss to all of us. no pressure, of course ;-)
Love to all of you and thanks for an amazing journey. -

Re: Phat Elvis thanks you all!
Fri, June 27, 2008 - 7:51 PMThank you, Viagra and the Chicken Shack (specifically Drusilla, Ed, Stephanie and her boy whose name escapes me at the moment) and who ever else mixed up the batch of pancakes, for giving me a space for my er.... artistic shenanigans. I really love doing those cakes, and you guys set it all up for me, and bring the food, and the audience....and trust me, I think I enjoy doing it almost more than people enjoy watching it. It is fantastic to be even the smallest part of all that.
As silly as this sounds, I'm honored to pour pancake batter down my tits for you. Thank you. :)

Sun, June 29, 2008 - 5:00 PMThanks for the kind words, Viagra. It was our pleasure to meet you all and help in any way we could. I have never met a group of kinder individuals. You left your mark here. This past week went by very quickly. I was a little bummed for a few days, but now I can see what you all left behind. Your vibe lives on. Love you all!
